Chapter Text
The icy breeze on the Graveyard and dark clouds in the sky didn’t seem to bother the silver haired boy sitting in front of a grave. In fact he ‘d rather sit here in the rain then in the burning heat of Konohas summers. It’s only been three months since Rin Nohara died by his very own hands and he doesn’t feel like he can take it any more. Now that both his Teammates have died in under a year there’s guilt and responsibility’s on his shoulders he can’t carry. The nightmares of Rin have been starting to torment him day and night, the only thing keeping him feeling sane was bringing flowers to Rins and Obitos graves daily.
Minato Sensai had proposed sending him into the ANBU, and honestly it might have been perfect for Kakashi right now. The ANBU Work was mind numbing, you can’t do anything wrong when you just follow orders. It turned him into a tool, a weapon for the village. He didn’t have to think, not about the guilt not about failing as a Team Captain.
But no matter how mind numbing the ANBU may be, the darkness in his heart seemed to follow every where he went. Alongside a grudge for this village that he couldn’t quite explain. Ever since he can think, he has been the most loyal Person in the whole wide Village. Following rules was his trade mark, he never was too late, never failed tests. Because in his eyes, everyone that didn’t follow the rules or went against the village was scum.
But ever since Obitos death it was like he was viewing the world differently trough the sharingan. The more he thought about it, the angrier he became. When Obito talked about Kakashis father, that he was a hero and a great shinobi, something changed in Kakashi. All these years he had been blaming his father for his death. For failing that mission and saving his comrades. Everyone in the village despised him for choosing to save his teammates lives instead of completing the Mission. They called him names, refused to sell him anything and treated him like trash. Until it drove him into suicied. All just because he hadn’t followed the Shinobi code. But Obito made him realize that people who don’t save their friends are worse than scum.
Now the eyes of the Villagers follow him trough the streets, being the son of the White fang used to be a compliment, now it turned into an insult. But they didn’t know how it was like having to leaver your comrades behind , they would never understand. This village had something rotten deep down, and he knew ever since his father’s death, he just never dared to admit it. They could shame him all they want, he would never ever trash his father’s memory again.
For the past few months Kakashi has been in a really bad shape. He never slept enough, didn’t eat properly and barely ever talked to anyone. He himself would not call it depression, it just didn’t feel that way. But still, no matter what he did he could not get a smile on his face. Even Gai trying to cheer him up with his “ Youthful Challenges” , barely seemed to help. He had to promise Rin, that he would live a happy Life, even if she died. Well that didn’t go well. He couldn’t walk 5 meters without seeing Rins face, with her petrified expression, and her saying his name before she took her last breath. Gaining the Nickname “Coldblooded Friendkiller” made kakashi fall even deeper in his hole. No matter how hard Gai tried, he wasn’t able to even talk to Kakashi normally. “ You’ve been so cold distant ever since your in ANBU.” He’d complain.
But sitting at a graveyard all day wouldn’t get the duties over with, so he decided it was time to get going. Not before having said goodbye to Rin and Obito though.
As he slowly stood up and started to walk away from the lonely grave he noticed a figure walking down the pebble path. As he recognized the long black silky hair and the sly movements, Kakashi decided to hush behind a tree and hide for now. The Snake Sannin, Orochimaru was strolling by some Graves as he finally came to stop to stand next to another man infront of some grave. The people of the village often talked bad about Orochimaru and how creepy he was. Even though he actually is a great shinobi and one of the third hokages students. Although there weren’t any actual allegations against him at the moment, Kakashi had to admit the man was quit eerie. Another weird thing was that sometimes in the hokage Tower when he came to make his report, Orochimaru always seemed to watch him intrigued when he saw him. Sometimes he even asked him a few simple questions, nothing more. Now that he thought about it , he could maybe see a few similarities between him and the Sannin. Even though he would never admit that out loud.
As he watched the pair silently whisper in front of the grave, he noticed that the man Orochimaru was talking to was actually Danzo.
A really weird feeling started to form inside Kakashis stomach. What could possibly be the reason for this meeting? And why on a graveyard? Most people knew not to trust Danzo, he’s had pretty bad reputation over the last few years. Apparently he had some weird business going on, so this meeting seemed even more suspect. But he knew better than to just chime in out of nowhere, so he decided to wait in the tree. Even though he couldn’t make out the voices since they kept them so low, he was able to understand that they seemed very interested in the grave before them. It was pretty old and the names weren’t readable anymore.
After a while of talking Danzo left, and Orochimaru remained standing with the back to Kakashi for a few seconds. "You can come out now, I now you’re here.” Orochimaru commented. Kakashi was surprised by this, he thought he had suppressed his Chackra good enough. Well Danzo didn’t seem to have noticed him. With a hop, he jumped agile out of the tree and landed on both his feet. Out of respect for the legendary sannin in front of him, he started to bow slightly. “Kakashi Hatake also called..nevermind. What is such a young foe like you doing here at this time? Aren’t you in Anbu?” He asked as he turned around to face Kakashi. "I’m on my free day Sir. I was just wondering how strange it was to see you here Thats all.”
“Hm I see well I do come here quite often, as do you, am I right? It looks like there’s something on your mind.” the sannin asked curiously. This time Kakashi had to carefully think how to put his next words, without it sounding strange. “You’re like me.” Kakashi blurted out. He didn’t even know why he would tell him that. “ And what makes you think that?” Orochimaru asked in an unfriendly sneer. There were a lot of answers to this question actually, but Kakashi decided to go with the one, That sounded understanding “ Their eyes follow you through the village too, don’t they?”. Orochimarus usually completely unreadable face turned into a surprised look, before his eyes softend and he began talking again: “ Ah I see what it is. Why don’t you come along Kakashi.” Kakashis only answer was a nod, before he started to follow Orochimaru through the now starting rain.
