Chapter Text
100 years ago, hybrids began to slowly gain rights. The creations of an accident, hybrids were once seen as pets with no rights whatsoever. But 100 years ago, hybrids started being allowed out of their houses on their own and gained small right here and there.
50 years ago, hybrids gained their freedom. The freedom to be their own person and to do as they please. But like with every new law people always find a way around it. Hybrid fighting rings 50 years later still pop up. And the blatant racism has never truly gone away. But they are free just like you and me, mostly.
One place that seems to not have gotten the message about this freedom was the music industry. Many hybrid based groups and bands are treated horribly from the get go. Though they tend to make money, sometimes more than human groups. They are still treated as an asset to own. An asset with a distinct problem that they can't seem to fix no matter how hard they try.
Soulmates. Something every hybrid is born with. A soulmate can be human or hybrid but more likely than not it ends up being a hybrid. Human mates are quite rare due to years of hybrid biological trauma. When soulmates are near a hybrid can smell their scent and track it down to the source of the smell. For a human it takes the physical contact between them and their hybrid soulmate for them to begin to feel the effects of the soulmate bond. Once a soulmate bond is formed via mating and marking, the bond is unbreakable and may cause changes In the human attached to the mate mark. Though it is much more common for a Hybrid to be a Hybrids soulmate.
The record companies realized that these people would cause absolute chaos to the fans and the profits they would make. Not able to get rid of them because of the hybrid soulmate safety laws, they decided to create their own industry based law that would just slide past the rules of the regular law. Every group has to make it 10 years to be able to gain access to their soulmate. If they do not make it to 10 years for one reason or another and the company knows who their soulmate is, they don't have to tell them. Making those groups who don't last that long, suffer and try the old fashion way to find their soulmates. It becomes somewhat of an industry standard for a company to try and finagle their way around the group lasting 10 years, either making members take extended hiatuses or even splitting groups up into smaller groups, which restarts the countdown.
The Kpop industry over the last 20 years has seen a rise In group soulmates. As many Kpop groups are forced In close proximity for years on end, there tends to be a higher chance of all the members sharing the same soulmate.
In this story we see Bts 3 years after their Soulmate cap was reached. Spending the last 3 years when they can In meeting after meeting with the company asking them why they have not been given access to their soulmate. A soulmate they know the company knows about based on one spill from a manager that was later fired that same day. And after all the fighting, as they make their way through their Arirang tour, they finally decide to lay all their cards on the table.
Either give them their soulmate, or they will leave the company using their friend JayB to help them dig their way out.
