Chapter Text
It took an embarrassing amount of time, approximately 2 years, for Sung Jinwoo to realize that he may have fucked up.
Well, obviously, what did one expect when they were on a random family trip to China, with his mom and sister, end up meeting and sleeping with a strange alpha?
Though he still felt the need to defend himself. Because how was he supposed to know that he would have a spontaneous heat shortly after the two of them had started kissing? At that point, they had already moved to a hotel room, so he thankfully didn’t have the extra embarrassment of having a heat in the middle of the street.
Spontaneous or not.
When he had eventually come to again, to find the unknown alpha still asleep beside him, with his very defined and muscular arm wrapped around his own small body, pressing him impossibly closer to the other's equally as muscular chest. He had been surprised to discover that the arm around him wasn’t actually holding him all that tightly, so he was able to sort of easily slip out from under the other’s arm.
Then he had quickly gotten dressed.
Not in the clothes that he had been wearing before, as the remains of them were still strewn around the bedroom.
But it seemed that someone had brought his suitcase to the room, along with some other different bags that he refused to even look at. They had all been placed on the coffee table in the living room of the, he finally noticed, very large and expensive hotel room.
Meaning that the alpha no doubt had a lot of money to spend.
He didn’t spend a lot of time pondering over that, choosing instead to quickly get dressed before he closed the suitcase back up and left the room with silent steps, almost like he was trying to hide from a dungeon monster.
When he met back up with his mother and sister, and after they had finished all their fusing and teasing, they left China and went back to Korea, at his insistence.
(He remembers distinctly that his mother had made some strange comments, but he had ignored her in favor of getting back to Korea as quickly as possible.)
(Similarly, he didn’t realize why exactly he was rushing around so much.)

And quickly, he became occupied with other things.
Specifically, the fact that his mother had ended up succumbing to Eternal Slumber, becoming his family's sole provider and the caretaker of his sister.
On top of that, after many weeks of simply thinking that he had gotten sick and wasn’t getting better, he had eventually discovered, after getting sent to the hospital, that he had gotten pregnant from that one spontaneous heat. One that he had shared with a stranger, in a completely different country.
It had come as a big shock when, after waking up and seeing the ceiling of a hospital, a sight that he had long ago become accustomed to. The doctor had just looked at him for a few seconds, in silence, before he eventually asked if he knew that he was pregnant.
It was safe to say that he hadn’t known.
Especially as it was generally frowned upon to be going into dungeons while pregnant.
To the point where the association specifically put restrictions on going into dungeons for pregnant hunters.
You could work around it, but for many the easier option was to just request maternity leave, though it was only from the dungeons. At which point you would be offered a temporary job, not unlike an internship, with the association. An offer he had ended up taking, as it was a much more stable source of income than occasionally going into a dungeon, the main difference was that most of the work was handled from behind a desk. And was therefore that much safer.
It had been chill for the most part, with his new coworkers being as excited as Jinah at him becoming a parent, except for a few small exceptions.
Which he had been told to expect.
There were the general low-level hunters, and some high-ranking hunters, who thought they were above the rules and could do whatever they wanted. The same hunters also weren’t afraid to use their mana to try and intimidate anyone lower-ranked than them.
In comparison, the few Korean S-rankers that he had managed to meet by chance were actually very nice. Despite what Chief Woo’s own opinion of them was, if what he had heard from the other workers was even the smallest bit accurate. They didn’t force their aura on him, or any of the other workers, apparently being very conscious of their effect on lower-level hunters and civilians. There were a few times that they had lost control, but Jinwoo thankfully hadn’t been around for that.
And once he had gotten farther into his pregnancy, up until he had been forced to take proper maternity leave, everything had been going surprisingly well. Even Jinah had been doing great in school, and had been getting lots of compliments from her teachers.
So when he was finally forced to stay home and actually rest, it should come as no surprise that he went into labor only a week later.
Jinah had been so excited when she finally got the opportunity to hold her nephew that she had almost started crying, while he filmed the whole event, "So she could properly remember it."
He then finally returned to work, 2 months later, as both Jinah and newly born Sung Hyeon-bong, refused to let him even leave the apartment for the first month. This resulted in his sister doing most of the grocery shopping whenever they couldn’t have it delivered directly to the apartment.
This then resulted in her being praised even more, this time by all the Ajummas and Halmeonis that spotted her helping her older brother after he had just given birth.
During all of this, and the extra time he spent working at the association after the birth, which was just until his son was old enough to be left with a babysitter, or his aunt, long enough for him to go on a dungeon raid. (Basically until his son didn’t need him to constantly be right by his side.)
(He had also noticed that his coworkers at the association were keeping something from him, which wasn’t unusual. They tended to not want to stress him out, so they kept some of the more strenuous and all-around stressful work from him.)
(All he had really gotten was that some high-ranking hunter, in China, was acting even crazier than usual. Apparently he had even asked for the details of different Korean hunters, but had refused to elaborate on why, so it had been denied.)
