A Simple Celebration

Summary:

Six months living together is worthy of some sort of celebration right? No matter how small
Written for Swoon June Day 16: Box of Chocolates

Notes:

Your honour, I do love them. It's true. However I cannot guarantee I've captured their characters perfectly
I am also mildly dyslexic, I've done my best to catch my errors as I went but I can't make any promises. There's probably some errors ahead. You've been warned
Enjoy :)

Work Text:

Annabeth and Piper had shared an apartment for six months now. Not the biggest of milestones, but something worth acknowledging surely. That was why on her way home Annabeth had picked up some flowers, and had the vase set up in the kitchen. They were pretty, and with meaning.

She rested on the couch as she waited for her girlfriend to return. Her day hadn't been all that tough, all in all pretty simple and calm. Still, it would be nice to just spend the evening cuddled up on the couch watching a documentary, and then a few episodes of whatever Piper wanted to watch.

Their apartment door creaked open. They really needed to sort that out, but at least it gave Annabeth ample warning to sit up so she could greet her. Piper trudged in, a box in one hand and a bag in the other. Her shoes got kicked off at the door.

"Welcome home," she called. Piper sighed, but offered a tired smile. "Hard day?" she asked. Piper nodded.

"I got takeout for dinner," Piper told her, holding up the bag.

"To celebrate?" Annabeth asked. They didn't often do takeout, though neither were that talented in the kitchen. Then again, they hadn't discussed doing anything for the sixth month anniversary of living together. A blush crept up Piper's cheeks, answer enough in Annabeth's book.

"I know it's only small, but six months living together is a milestone. It's why I got the chocolates too," she said, dropping both onto the coffee table. Annabeth shuffled up the couch, using the arm rest as a back rest and keeping her legs stretched out. If they didn't have the food, Piper would have collapsed face first into Annabeth's arms. Instead she settled with her back to Annabeth's chest, still not the easiest way for Annabeth to eat but she wasn't going to complain.

"I got us flowers, and a vase," Annabeth said, shrugging slightly as she wrapped her arms around Piper's waist. She buried her head into Piper's neck, and pressed a gentle kiss there.

Piper hummed and reached for the remote. She could have her episodes first. Annabeth's newest documentary interest could come later. The takeout boxes were balanced on a cushion on Piper's lap, and the box of chocolates could wait for after, the food would only stay warm for so long after all.

It wasn't the biggest milestone in their relationship, and it certainly wasn't the biggest celebration, but it suited them just fine. They wanted to celebrate, that didn't mean they needed to do anything big or dramatic, a night in with takeout and chocolate was plenty enough.

Notes:

I'd fully intended the box of chocolates to be more important, but I liked this as it was and didn't want to push them in more
I hope you liked it, if you did maybe consider leaving a comment or a kudos. All interactions are greatly appreciated! :)
