Abomination project test run

Summary:

Hexside first year but focusing on how Alador and Darius became friends and other drama along the way! Alador wasn't in the abominations track at the start. Darius sees the sparkle in his golden eyes when he creates and tries to get him to switch tracks, though his parents aren't fond of that.

Notes:

I haven't found a fic that had more about these two in school and i just really wanted to make that fic i guess. So, enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter 1: Alador

Chapter Text

Taking his lunch to the abominations classroom, Alador took a seat in his usual spot and halfheartedly ate as he messed with the goo on his table. He had an idea to create an abomination that could take better orders, more competent and stronger to carry them out. Maybe one that could help the construction coven! Or one that could help the beast keeping coven! There's plenty that abominations could help with, but how to make that possible?

He forgotten his lunch as he delved into forming the purple sludge into something that resembled a more witch-like shape. The form was to attempt to imitate a witch for more precise movements, but of course, that failed rather fast. The thinner frame was harder to maintain than a bulkier mess of sludge.

----

Again, he returned to the abominations classroom, working away on his little ideas. Most ended up being a failure. When tested with a beast, it didn’t like his abomination and turned it into a puddle upon one slash. As for the construction idea, he’d been working on it, testing it with heavy materials made it also turn into a puddle. Still, he took notes in a journal and kept working on it.

There wasn’t much space for him to do so at home. His family had him in the oracle or potions track. But everything in him resonated with abominations. It felt natural. It felt good. But here he was wearing the potions yellow color instead of the purple-pink he would’ve liked. The only reason Alador was allowed here was because of his astonishing skill he displayed when he was caught in the classroom. The abominations homeroom teacher had been shocked to see he had created an abomination so well that it wasn’t runny, it wasn’t struggling to keep itself up or any other common difficulties other students displayed.

The teacher frowned, knowing it was a bad idea and could get him fired, he still allowed Alador Blight to work freely here when there was a break, much to his delight. It was also a comfortable place to be, alone and quiet. No overwhelming sounds and no one to judge him. No one to yell at him that he's not supposed to do this or whatever.

Today was the first interruption he's had since he's been to this school. A kid had entered the classroom, green eyes watched him for a second before grabbing something from a desk and leaving. Alador blinked as his heart beat fast in the sudden intrusion. He feared it was a teacher here to scold him for being here as a potion’s student.

----

Alador had arrived to the classroom at lunch again, setting up his things. Pulling out his abomination goop that was hidden. He didn’t want anyone messing with it as it was his own custom serum, so he kept it in the back of the room behind some cabinet. He even had his name written on it.

“So, that was yours?”

He jerked his head around to see that kid again. Vibrant green eyes meeting his.

“That is some good abomination goo. How’d you do it? You’re in the potions track for titan sake.”

Alador bit his lip, not sure how to answer. Was he in trouble?

The kid closed the door and crossed his arms, “Not sharing your secrets?” A smile formed on his lips, “Then, how’s this?” He summoned his abomination from a cauldron not too far from Alador and an abomination stronger than his own appeared in front of him. Stark emerald eyes, the same as the kids stared at him.

“What you think? Impressive isn’t it!” The kid beamed, “Watch this!” He made the abomination change its fists into different shapes and poses.

Alador was scared at first, but soon figured out the kid is showing off his skills, “Wow…” It was cool, this was the biggest abomination Alador had seen! Well, one from a student. The adults always had stronger and better abominations of varying shapes and sizes. But this was amazing!

“Thank you! Thank you!” The boy took a bow and made the abomination do it too prior to withdrawing back into the cauldron.

Alador clapped his hands in awe, “How’d you do that?”

The kid shrugged, “Just do. It’s like… Hm, breathing? I don’t know.”

“Oh.” Alador replayed it in his head and paused, “Wait… You didn’t use voice commands!”

“Oh yeah… I didn’t…” The slightly taller boy pondered, “I never really used voice commands. Is that normal?”

He nodded like his head would fall off.

“Hahaha!” Sliding up next to Alador, “Now, show me what you were working on! It looked like some reinforced abomination. Did you make that?”

Alador felt a flush crawl up his face, this boy noticed that he was reinforcing it. How?! No one’s ever noticed it before.

“Oh ah… sure.” He used his magic to pull the goo from the hidden spot, though this was a miniature for obvious reasons.

The boy with wide eyes poked and prodded at it, “Wow, look at that. It is stronger goop.”

“I just… kinda did it.”

“Hmm.” The boy crossed his arms, “Why aren’t you in the abominations track? Unless you do this kind of shit in the potions track too.”

Alador shook his head, “Not even close. And potions are… fun.” It sounded forced even to him.

Sure, it is.”

The bell screamed and the boy waved, “See you around.” Before sprinting away.

Alador was stunned. That was one of the few nice experiences he's had over his abominations. Shaking out of it, he cleaned up and jogged to his next class before anyone entered the room to find a potions student in here.
