Work Text:

It was one of those nights. The hotel was silent, Not the awkward type of quiet or uncomfortable kind— its just quiet. Which was unusual for Kier and Dev.

The peaceful hum of the air conditioning drifted through the hotel room. The only source of light in the room came from a small gap in the curtains, letting the city lights spill inside.

Kier was sitting on the edge of the couch, absentmindedly scrolling through his phone. He was looking through fan videos of him and Dev. Some posts were.. questionable? Dev was sprawled at the opposite side of the couch, resting his head on arm of the couch.

Neither of them spoke. They hadn't felt like the need to anyway. Every now and then, one of them would try to take a glance over one another. Not because there was anything to say, but simply to confirm the other was still there.

Kier caught a glimpse of Dev shifting slightly against the arm of the chair, As Kier glanced over, their eyes met, neither looked away.

One second. Two. Three.

Then Dev burst out laughing. Kier followed with a chuckle immediately.

After a few minutes of laughing, Kier finally spoke up. "Dude, what is wrong with you." Kier wiped at his eyes, tears spilling out from the laughing. Dev tried to calm himself down, trying to form a sentence while still snickering to himself. "I dont know? Hey you're also in this, you laughed too"

"Your laugh sounds stupid, thats why." Kier said in a playful way, there was no real bite to it. This was just one of their usual banters. They both continued to giggle at each other.

Later, the room fell silent once again.

Well it was until Dev decided to break the silence once again. "Hey, you're mom watches our videos right?" Kier looks up once again from his phone. "Yeah..? Why do you ask"

"Do you think she knows about us?" Dev deadpanned. What the fuck is this dude saying. Dev can hear Kier's breath hitching before responding. "What— What do you mean?" Dev didn't answer immediately. He just stared. Then his grin widened. "What do you think I mean?" Dev laughs loudly at Kier's reaction. The once quiet hotel room was now filled with a cracking up Dev and a flustered Kier.

"Dude.. Dev theres like.. Nothing to know—" Kier stutters through his words. If Dev's laugh wasn't loud enough earlier, well it was louder now. "No, I meant like how we have a channel together, you hear me? Thats what I mean like obviously."

Kier does not calm down from that. "Whatever dude— stop saying stupid shit." Dev grins from that, moving towards Kier. He pokes and squeezes Kier's cheek. Kier whines from that action, complaining that it hurts "Awhh, why you flustered?"

Kier flips off the younger off, Dev responded by throwing himself at Kier, wrapping an arm around his shoulders and pressing his face into the crook of his neck.

Dev hugged him tighter, mumbling something under his breath. "You're so mean to me, Kier..." Kier ran his fingers through Dev's hair, gently tugging at the strands. "Now you're making me look like a dick.." Every time Dev laughed, Kier could feel it where his face was pressed against his neck. "I dont have to try anyway."

Kier immediately pulled harder on his hair. "Ow." Dev complains from the action. "Deserved." Kier offers a grin

They stay in that position for a few moments.

Once again, Dev had ruined the silence. Dev looked over Kier's shoulder at his phone. "Are you seriously watching fan edits of us..?" Kier noticed and immediately locked his phone. "No..." Dev stares at the now shut phone. "Whatever, your reaction says otherwise."

A sly grin spreads over Dev's face. "Can you pleeasee show me what you were watching?" trying to give puppy eyes to Kier. "Dude— i hope you realize how stupid you look right now. I wish i could take a photo right now and put it as our newest thumbnail."

"Aha- Your changing the subject! Didn't even deny it too." Dev beams while pointing at Kier in an accusing type of way. Kier narrows his eyes "Your so fucking insufferable."

Kier shoved at his face, trying to push him away. Dev only laughed, not moving a single inch. For a moment, neither of them spoke. Then Dev looked back at the dark screen of Kier's phone. A grin slowly spread across his face. "You know," he started. Kier immediately groaned. "No."

"I haven't even said anything!" Dev exclaims. "Lalala— dont wanna hear it!" Dev ignored him.

"Should we just say we started dating?" Dev continued. "Think about it. Give the people what they want!" Dev continued, completely unaware of how difficult he was making this conversation. "Dev, you're actually so stupid." Kier mutters, trying to hide the fact hes flustered

Kier was not backing down from this. Dev wanted to play this game? He is definitely not losing. "You know, if one of us was a girl we probably would've been married by now." He said in a sarcastic way.

Dev chuckles before replying. "Whatever you say Kier, I'd definitely be willing to choose to be the girl though." What does that mean? Kier's response came way too quickly than he intended. "Why?"

"Because I like you exactly the way you are." Dev said simply.

Kier opened his mouth, nothing came out. The answer caught him completely off guard. It wasn't the words themselves. It was how easily Dev had said them. Like it was obvious, like it wasn't something worth thinking about. Meanwhile, Kier felt like his brain had completely stopped working.

There was no teasing, no sarcasm, just a simple statement.

Kier stared.

Dev blinked back.

Then, as if realizing how that sounded, Dev lets out a cough, immediately finding an excuse. "Anyway, did you just admit you'd marry me?"

Kier grabbed the nearest pillow and threw it at his face.

The pillow hit Dev square in the face. "See?" Dev said from behind it. "Violent. This marriage would never work." He said while curling his hand, bringing it up to his face pretending to sob. "Let's get a divorce right now!" Kier immediately grabbed another pillow. "Don't even start." Dev laughed and held up his hands in surrender. "Okay, okay."

Neither of them mentioned the conversation again.

Yet somehow, long after the room had fallen silent, Kier couldn't stop thinking about it.
