Chapter Text
We do solemnly swear
To pledge ourselves
Mind, body, soul
Through the snow, through the battle
Through our work, through our prayer
All for glory.
Glory to Blackrock
“...Glory to Blackrock my ass.” A young inphernal pressed the bud of his cigarette against a poster in the alley. He pressed and pressed until the thing ignited. “This place is a hell hole..” he grumbled, throwing what was left of the cigarette to the ground and stomping on it. He turned and looked back at the smoking poster, watching the flames whipping at it. He wanted to touch the heat…feel it crackle against his skin. He wanted everything to burn, he along with it.
“HEY!” His head snapped behind him. As the soldier came around the corner he picked up his gear and started booking it. “FOUND THE ARSONIST, CALL BACKUP.” It would usually be hard to run that fast with such a large gear, but he’d be DAMNED if they caught him. The Korblox administration could kiss his ass and then some. “Damnit, HE'S HEADING TOWARDS THE WEST WALL, CUT HIM OFF BEFORE THERE.” The soldiers screamed so loud in the walkie it feedbacked loud enough to disrupt some of the definitely not propaganda speakers.
The inphernal made a sharp turn somewhere along the path and used a fire escape ladder to scale a building. He looked behind him to check to see if he was still being persued…yes. Yes he was. When he looked back in front of him a group of soldiers appeared, he stopped running so fast he skidded across the roof and nearly fell off the edge. He looked over the ledge, more soldiers filled the alley, and others filled in his other possible escapes. He looked around him, at their faces.
“Listen to us, kiddo. Come on we're not gonna hurt you if you just comply.” The soldier stepped closer to him. He couldn't back up any further…he'd fall right into the claws of more of them.
So he made a decision. He planted his feet and lifted his gear off his back. If they weren't gonna give him a path, he was gonna MAKE one damnit. The sound of a laser ripping through the bodies of several soldiers cracked through the night paired with a faint blue glow. While the others processed what just happened to at least half of their numbers he bolted right through them. They started back after him but the snow hit hard. Covering his tracks and any other trace of him.
“PHUCK!” A soldier shielded his eyes from the snow.
“Sir, know who they are! I got a good look at them”
“Speak?”
“They're a newspawn, sir. They're registered at the orphanage. I saw them in the corner while I was with my sister.”
“Name, Soldier?”
“Hyperlaser, sir!”
Hyperlaser, wandered around before finding the ladder that scaled the side of the orphanage. He climbed up and through the window of his room and snuck back into bed.
“You snuck out again!!” One of the others called out, pointing at the window.
“...hey …shut the phuck up.” He grumbled into his pillow. “Goodnight.”
“I'm gonna tell Watcher Bellow!” The newspawn wiggled out of bed and grabbed their robe.
“HWA- No you're NOT!!” The two of them ran out the door one after another. The smaller crying out ‘WATCHER! WATCHER!' As she was chased. About halfway to the staircase Hyperlaser tackled her and gripped her by the horns.“I will KILL you! Right here right now.”
“Get of-mph!!!MMMM!!” Hyperlaser picked up a piece of loose fabric from her robe and stretched over her face. She kicked and trashed trying to push him off.
“I said shut up, Cosmic!! You're so annoying and so loud, shut UP!!! SHUTUPSHUTUPSHUTUP!!!”
A shadow whisked past the two, scooping up Hyperlaser as it did. Hyperlaser tried to squirm out of its grip, its nails were clawing into his arm so hard it has started to bleed. Cosmic coughed and sputtered on the floor in front of him crawling back in fear. He was going to kill her.
