Chris - 雷德菲爾 - léi dé fēi ěr - (damn that’s a pretty cool surname! I think really cool sexy ppl have that surname): 25 years old. A palace guard sending money home to his lil sister, nothing too special about him. He’s kinda sad that his only skill is murkin’ people. He can’t read or play music very well. :(
Wesker - 威斯卡 - Wēi sī kǎ: 38 years old. A scholar official with great influence over the senile emperor. DW about the yellow hair, he’s albino. He has cool glasses because he’s cool but light hurts his eyes. Sometimes Chris sees a weird pale person in the emperor’s quarters late at night. They may be the emperor’s favored eunuch. Every guy says she’s a spy, she’s got Bette Davis eyes.

3. Sketches of Chinese Chris and Wesker. 1 - Chris is licking Wesker's neck while Wesker pushes him away, annoyed. 2 - Chris is hugging Wesker while Wesker looks away. 3 - Wesker with his long hair down, nude to show off his eunuch castration scar on his crotch. A white snake crawls between his thighs and around Chris's sword. Wesker asks “Do you want your sword back Chris?”. 4- Chris bowing to Emperor Spencer, and Wesker holding a scroll to write in. Flavor text reads: Taken at a young age by the emperor, and forced to be castrated. Shut into an enclosed room like a silkworm, enslaved into palace life. He eventually became a high ranking official advising the emperor. The emperor is confident that he would never be betrayed by his favorite eunuch.
Fu xing, rotting punishment. There are drawings of a silkworm and a moth, meant to symbolize Wesker's insectoid nature.

4. More Chris and Wesker pencil sketches. 1- Chris hugs Wesker from behind. Wesker says “We can't keep meeting like this <3”. 2- Wesker holds up Chris's chin and smiles madly with his eyes glowing behind his glasses. He asks “You'll help me into the emperor's room tonight, right?” Chris has an XD face and says “OKAY!”. 3 - Chris is mad, pointing at Wesker and saying “YOU USED ME!”. Wesker is in shadows, holding a bloody heart in his hand. He responds “Oh Chris, why can't you understand?”. There's a doodle underneath of Wesker punching Spencer through the heart to grab the organ. 4 - Large doodle of Chris pledging his sword to Wesker, his eyes cast downward because he's a lower rank. Wesker is thinking with his hand on his chin.
Yapping
This is a “no zombies” AU, where instead of Chris and Wesker working for STARS (which was funded by Umbrella), Chris and Wesker are working under Emperor Spencer. Something really interesting about both of them always working for the “bad guy”, but Chris is trying really hard to uphold law and order within this system, while Wesker is trying his dang hardest to break out of the system and he doesn't care who he hurts. 😜
Chris is Wesker's guard in the palace. Wesker does little teasing things to Chris, like glaring with an angry furrowed brow at him. Or standing 10 ft away from Chris and breathing oxygen. Or kicking peeping Chris out to undress with the door open. That drives Chris wild! Especially when Chris finds out Wesker's a eunuch. That's so interesting to Chris! So Chris ends up making very bad decisions to make his liege smile. Which ends up with Chris accidentally helping Wesker's plot to murk the emperor for kidnapping and castrating him. Woops!
I really like this AU as one-sided attraction, from Chris to Wesker. Wesker might have some feelings resembling fondness for his little piggy Chris, but he's gotta do what he's gotta do (murk the emperor), even if it breaks the little piggy's brain and heart to implicate him in a coup. Join me, Chris 💖 even if you'll never get to hit. 💖
Inspiration
Chris's outfit and occupation is based off of Ling Xiao from Road to Empress. And Wesker's outfits and occupations are based off Chen Xin (this means Wesker is a musician too! He's trained in many forms of entertainment and pleasure.) and Consort Wei of Preciousness. Wesker wears pure white like the trapped, castrated silkworm he is.
This song was in the back of my head while pondering the AU. 赤伶 Red Actor sung by Li Yugang
The song is a fable during the Second Sino-Japanese War, about a female impersonator actor forced to perform “The Peach Blossom Fan” by invading soldiers. That play is in turn about the fall of the Ming dynasty through the filter of a doomed romance between a courtesan and scholar. Back to the Sino-Japanese War, the crossdressing actor traps the invading soldiers in the building, sacrificing himself while the theatre is set on fire to kill everyone in it.
Li Yugang, the performer of the actual song, is known for performing male and female roles as a singer.
Then linking that to M. Butterfly by David Henry Hwang, about a real opera singer/spy performing as a woman to seduce a man for political gain:
In Road to Empress as well as the fictionalized M. butterfly, the mark-spy relationship ends in “I still love you” from both people, even after the political betrayal is revealed… hrrmph… why does Chris yell WESKER when cap'n gets impaled…

There is SOMETHING there even in the song's lyrics about repeating theatre cliches, but don't laugh at the cliches…
