Chapter 1: Soft for you only ⋆✴︎˚。⋆

Chapter Text

Minho is the bully of Levanter High School- at least that’s what everyone says. Jisung has known him for a few months now, and it was quite obvious to him that Minho would never hurt a fly.

Jisung was an outcast, a ‘loser’. He’d get bullied over everything and anything, especially the fact of him being gay, he was used to it though. Though he never understood why someone as kind as Minho was always hanging out around him, talking so freely around him, smiling so happily around him.

They’d hang out every weekend, whether it was one of their houses, a skate park, or even just the local grocery store, they’d never pass up on the others company. Jisung grew to treat Minho like his best friend too, they’d be curled up in bed, cuddled close, watching any new anime that felt right. Despite physical touch being looked down on for teenage boys, Jisung didn’t care, he loved the warmth of Minho body curled around his.

The two boys met up one morning, sharing stories from their weekends and Minho checking in on Jisung, that was their daily routine. Eventually the bell rang and it was time to head to class, Jisung waved goodbye before heading off towards his locker to collect his supplies. He directed himself to his class, but before entering the room, he overheard voices, people arguing.

“C’mon mate, you know I was just joking! Why do you care about him so much anyway?” An unfamiliar voices pipes up, sounding slightly distressed.

“We both know you weren’t, Seungmin.” The other growls back, Jisung recognises the voice, though he wasn’t used to hearing it in such a hostile tone. Minho.

Jisung presses his ear against the wooden door of the classroom, surprisingly his class wasn’t here yet.

“Please, Minho, I’m serious! I didn’t mean it!” The other voice, supposedly Seungmin, shouted out. Jisung peaked around the slightly opened door, catching a glimpse of Minho clutching onto Seungmin’s collar, snarling at him. Jisung leans a little bit too far forward, and to his horror, trips- straight into the classroom where two of his classmates were arguing.

Minho gaze immediately shoots the intruder, softening when he spots Jisung, then turning to concern when he spots the younger boy on the floor, clutching his knee as he lay sprawled out on the cold floor.

“Jisung! Are you okay?” Minho asks as he rushes over to Jisung, helping him off the ground.

“Y-yeah,” He murmurs, angry that Minho was manhandling this poor innocent boy. Remembering Seungmin was still here, he turns just to see him bolting out of the room. “Minho.”

“Yeah, Ji? Do you need something? Are you hurt?” Minho questions frantically, why does he care so much?

“Minho!” Cut off by Jisung’s yell, Minho looks at him, confused. “What was that?!”

“I-I- nothing. Don’t worry about it.” He mutters; this was the first time Jisung has ever seen him ashamed.

“That wasn't nothing, what did he ever do to you? I can’t believe I thought you were genuinely nice...”

“He didn’t do anything to me, but-”

“You know what? I don’t want to see you again. I don’t want to be around a bully.” With that Jisung turns and strides out of the room, Minho attempting to grab his wrist, but he doesn’t give in.

Jisung runs out of the room, tears welling at his eyes as Minho calls out after him, though not daring to follow him.

A few days pass and just like Jisung told him, Minho doesn’t attempt to approach him. Though he does realise that the bullying has stopped, he’s able to get to school without being slammed into a locker and being called a ‘fag’.

One afternoon, he’s sitting at his usual table eating his lunch, he looks up to see a freckled, small blond boy approaching him.

“Hi!” He exclaims, squinting as he smiles brightly down at Jisung. “Can I sit here?”

Jisung’s eyes widen; no one has ever been genuine while asking him that question, though something about this boy compelled Jisung to trust him.

“S-sure...!” Jisung mutters.

The boy sinks into the spot across from Jisung and smiles once again before digging into his food. “Oh! I’m Felix by the way.”

“I’m Jisung.” He smiles back.

“I know.” He chuckles a little before taking another bite of his kimchi jjigae.

“Huh?” Jisung begins, “Wha- how?”

“You don’t know?” He asks, genuine confusion in his expression. Jisung shakes his head. “Minho always talks about you, I’m friends with Chan, who’s friends with him, he’s always like; ‘Touch Jisung and I’ll kill you’” Felix gives an impression of Minho, obviously attempting to act funny to ease the tension, though Jisung just stares at him blankly. Felix laughs nervously before continuing. “But yeah, he’s so protective of you, I thought you knew? I even thought you two were dating for a bit. He’s definitely got a soft spot for you, I’ve seen him threaten so many kids but he’s so gentle when he’s around you. He’s been in such a bad mood lately too, it’s probably what happened between you and him recently; Seungmin told everyone already, ugh he’s a bitch.”

Jisung just blinks at him in confusion.

Felix chuckles again, “Sorry, too much?”

Jisung shakes himself back to reality before choking out an answer. “N-no! Just- I gotta go.”

Felix giggles as Jisung sprints off. “Go get your boyfriend!” He shouts. Jisung only just catches it, rolling his eyes at the blond’s teasing.

Jisung searches through the hallways, earning weird glances, though no one dares to approach, which he now knows was Minho’s doing. It only just clicks to Jisung that when Minho was talking to Seungmin in that classroom a few days ago, he must’ve been defending Jisung. “Why do you care so much about him anyway?”, “He didn’t do anything to me.”. The words ring in Jisung’s head, he only just understands them now.

Jisung searches for a bit longer, eventually turning a corner to spot Minho resting under a tree, looking deep in thought. Jisung sprints forward and jumps right into his arms, wrapping his own tightly around the older.

“What the fuck Seungmin- What- Jisung?” Minho looks down, realising that the boy that had just jumped into his arms was his crush. “What is it? Did something happen?” He asks urgently, pulling him closer.

Jisung smirks and leans up to plant a small kiss on Minho’s lips. The bewildered expression of the boy above him amusing Jisung. He barely has time to think before Minho leans down swiftly and captures Jisung’s lips into another kiss, more passionate this time. His hands find their way down to Jisung’s waist.

They’re lucky no one’s around, or Jisung would’ve been bullied like crazy for years, though he realises Minho wouldn’t let that happen.

Jisung smiles against Minho’s lips before they part, breathing heavily.

“So,” Minho starts, “Who told you?”

“About what?”

“Everything.”

Jisung giggles. “Felix did, he sat with me at lunch. He’s definitely an oversharer.”

“I already figured that.” Minho chuckles.

The silence grew between them, not awkward, but comfortable. That’s the thing about love; you learn silence isn’t something to fill, just to live in.

Eventually, Minho breaks it.

“So,” He starts, Jisung raises an eyebrow, still clinging onto the older like he’s about to disappear if he’s not held tight enough. “I think you owe me a date.”

Jisung laughs. “Only if you promise to stop beating up random kids because you want to ‘protect me’.”

“I am!” Minho defends himself. “They were being horrible; I’m not going to stand around and let that happen to my baby.” Minho nuzzles into the crook of Jisung’s neck.

“Your baby?” Jisung questions, again raising an eyebrow.

“Mhm.” Minho responds, digging his head deeper into Jisung’s neck as he tightens his hold on his waist. “You’re mine now. I forgot to mention that’s part of the deal.”

Jisung jokingly rolls his eyes, not wanting to admit he wouldn’t mind that.

They stay curled up underneath the tree until the bell rings, then walking hand in hand to class.

Of course, no one paid them any mind, they knew it was bound to happen soon, they all knew Minho and Jisung were the perfect match for each other.
