Chapter Text
Leer huffed exhaustedly. He had finished beating up 2 Redcliff Knights. They weren’t as weak as he anticipated. The minor cuts on his left arm throbbed. He could only think about hydration. His severe thirst had caught up to him.
I could use a defend+ card…and some water.
Leer knew he wouldn’t ever get that. Finding those darn BUX is always a hassle. Maybe a little more health would do him some justice for the time being.
He looked around to make sure no one saw his bloody clothes before he hid the knocked out knights in a nearby sack and slipped into the shadows. That thing probably belonged to a vendor, but Leer couldn’t care less.
He sighed and tried to teleport back to base. He ended up in the meadows, his teleporting was awful. He needed more fine-tuning with his nova skills. He sluggishly walked the remaining distance in the meadows.
He found the inconspicuous cave and continued foward. A smaller tunnel led Leer down until he reached a door. and opened it, leaning against the door frame for support.
“…Hi.”
Mysterious figure was at his desk, papers were scattered all over the surface and floor. The startled man’s gaze met Leer’s. He had barged in unannounced though. And those cuts caused concern to bloom the other’s tone.
“Was it a success?”
“Nope. The Player got to the Trinity first. He screwed up a bunch of hooligans to get the wind force. The Korblox didn’t stand a chance against him.”
Leer walked over to the kitchen and grabbed a cup from a cabinet. He placed it below the faucet and turned on the water.
“Patience is a virtue that will secure our victory soon enough. Avoid rushing them, we can watch the Korblox dig their own grave.”
He hummed in approval and drank all the water from the glass in one gulp. He stood around that sink for another minute to drink more water.
“Then we strike when it is unexpected, for ambush is their worst nightmare.”
“Sounds good, boss.”
There was more deathly silence.
“I’m gonna go shower now.”
Mysterious Figure nodded his head, and Leer made his towards the bathroom. He closed the door behind and walked over to the mirror. He hadn’t even noticed a small cut on his left cheek. Well, the stinging became more prominent as time passed.
Stupid hero potion. Since when did they provide those drinks to the lower class knights?
His thoughts were all over the place. He calmed himself down and used feel fine to eliminate the remaining burn and poison.
He stripped and stepped into the shower, letting the warm water wash away his stress and dried blood.
…
He stared at the mirror with his hair dripping water. His cuts seemed to look cleaner. He searched the cabinets for medicine.
He came to terms with the fact that there was no medicine after searching for a good 10 minutes.
Leer sulked and dresses himself before walking out of the bathroom.
“Boss, I’m gonna go sleep.”
There was more silence, so Leer took it as a yes.
“Wait—come here.”
Leer paused and walked back over, concerned if something was wrong. Mysterious Figure looked back at him in the chair.
“Lean down.”
He obliged and leaned closer. Mysterious Figure whipped out an ointment and squeezed it onto his fingers. He rubbed it on the cuts. Leer felt like a toddler standing there and not doing it himself. It was awkward but he didn’t want to speak up, afraid of getting yelled at.
“All done. Please rest well. There’s lots more to come.”
“Okay.”
Leer walked back to his room and closed the door.
That was odd. He’s just helping, that’s all…
He paced aimlessly around his room, just to burn some extra energy. Eventually his legs wanted to give out, so he laid on the bed.
His eyelids slowly shut and he drifted into sleep.
