More tears were shed, the grips of the hug grew tighter, breaths once shaky slowly began to calm down. Jaekyung wasn't ready to let go of Dan, scared he'd imagined the whole thing, and that Dan would stand up to leave any second, but he didn't.
It took Jaekyung 5 more minutes to calm down, to get out of his own head and his desperate haze of losing the only thing he really knew that mattered in his life anymore. Dan just held him, almost fully calmed down too, and he wasn't going anywhere.
Eventually, Jaekyung stood up, hoisting Dan up into an arm and carrying him in bridal style whilst managing to pick up all his bags with his other arm.
"Let's go home," Jaekyung said, smiling softly at Dan, and carried him the short distance back to the apartment complex.
They reached the foyer, and Jaekyung brought them to the Elevator before hitting the button to the top floor. He set Dan down as the doors closed behind them, Dan just looked up at him happily, glad and fortunate he didn't have to go. Dan slid his arms around Jaekyung's back and let his face rest in the crevice of Jaekyung's neck. Breathing in the strong, steady scent of him, he didn't know how much he truly missed. Jaekyung let go of the bags, arms wrapping around Dan, face nuzzled in his soft hair, breathing him in.
"You know," Dan starts, "I know it was you who bought me those flowers."
"Really?" replies Jaekyung, "How'd you know?"
"Because you're the only person who would do something for me like that, and.. it was obvious."
Jaekyung laughs lightly, "Well, you deserved it," he says, pulling back a little, "and.. I hope you know I wanted to be there for you and visit, but I was just so scared I'd hurt your recovery."
Sadness filled Dan's heart. He looks up at him, "I'm sorry you felt that way.. and you wouldn't have hurt my recovery." Dan smiles softly, whilst he reaches for Jaekyung's hands and intertwines their fingers. Jaekyung squeezes his hands and smiles.
The elevator dinged as the shaft reached the top floor. Jaekyung released one of Dan's hands to grab his stuff, fingers still locked, they walked back in together.
They made their way towards Jaekyung's room, Jaekyung sets Dan's stuff down in his room and looked at Dan "We'll have to order the rest of your stuff back here" he says,
"I- hope you're okay sharing with me," Dan thought it was cute he was asking, he didn't have to though, he was already planning to move here anyway with him, he'd enjoyed those nights where they shared a bed together, it made Dan feel safe.
"It's fine," says Dan.
Jaekyung shrugs off his hoodie and flops down onto the bed, he sits back up and runs a hand through his black hair. His eyes find Dan's, they carry that look of tiredness and relief mixed in his dark grey eyes. Dan's heart melts at the sight, he takes a few slow steps towards him, and extends both of his hands for Jaekyung to hold. Jaekyung takes both his hands and lifts them to his face, closing his eyes and nuzzling into Dan's hands.
He opens his eyes slowly and looks up at Dan.
"You.. really, love me?" Jaekung asks painfully,
like he still couldn't comprehend the words Dan spoke before, his eyes never leaving Dan's.
Dan's face filled with a sad worry, his lips pressed together while his hooded eyes locked on Jaekyungs. He really didn't seem to believe Dan loved him, but he did.
"Of course I do," he says softly.
That racks a sob out of Jaekyung. "How..", he sniffs, "How- can you.. after everything, I still don't understand". Dan steps closer and plops himself down in Jaekyung's lap, thighs on either side of Jaekyung's, his fingers wiping away his tears.
"I just do," Dan starts, "you've done more for me than you even realize." he moves the silky black hair away from Jaekyung's face and presses a kiss to the crown of his head.
"So- you.. Really, truly, love me?"
"Yes.. I do"
Jaekyung lets out a shaky sigh of relief, and it takes him a while before he replies,
"Good.. because I know that I am desperately in love with you".
And that's all it takes for Dan to lean forward and close the gap between their lips. Jaekyung practically moans into the kiss, not sexually, but in hopeless relief from yearning and longing, waiting so long to get the answer he's been searching for. Jaekyung hadn't said those words to Dan yet, and it lit up something inside Dan to finally hear those words.
Dan deepened the kiss and surrenders into the moment, pouring his heart into the kiss while Jaekyung passionately kissed him back.
He breaks away, "Oh- Fuck.." Jaekyung inhales, his breath hitching,
"We're gonna have to stop," he pants, "or I might lose it on you".
"Lose it," says Dan, "show me how you love me, I know you're better with actions than you are words."
And he is, Jaekyung had shown it in the way he sent fresh bouquets of flowers to Dan in the hospital, in the way he took care of him when he had sleepwalking issues, how he taught him to swim, in the way he has showered him in numerous gifts, and how he stayed by his side as long as he could until he got scared away.
Jaekyung's face looks close to a strawberry now. He's rarely heard Dan speak like this, especially when it gets sexual, but he's not complaining. If this is what Dan wants, then he'll show him just how much he loves him.
He'd also show him something he'd been meaning to show him for a while. Something, two things, that sit in a velvet box..
