Work Text:
They came home from the park in the state of quiet excitement and arousal, accompanied, in Laios' case, by a mild allergic reaction to all the pollen floating about outside. He'd been subconsciously sniffling and scratching his nose the entire way back, and as soon as they made it home, he made a beeline for the bathroom to thoroughly wash his face, making an awful lot of noise in the process. Kabru joined him shortly to wash his hands and check the state of his face in his reflection – not that he had anything to worry about, unlike Laios, whose bloodshot eyes looked back at him from the mirror while he snorted out the water that had gotten up his nose. They dried their hands and faces with Laios' towel and made sure that the front door was locked before finally heading to his bedroom, their bodies bumping against each other in the narrow hallway.
Laios held the door for Kabru, allowing him to come in first, and closed it behind him before taking off towards the bed. They climbed onto the bottom bunk and huddled together, panting and giggling nervously while they attempted to find a somewhat comfortable position. At last, Kabru sat in Laios’ lap and cupped his cheeks, bumping his forehead against his as he looked directly into his eyes. They stared at each other in perfect silence for a few moments before Kabru burst into another fit of giggles, which prompted Laios to laugh along as he cautiously placed his hands on Kabru’s hips. It felt awesome to be able to laugh like that without ruining the mood. There was something really comforting about the awkwardness of their shared intimacy, mostly because it didn't exclusively come from Laios, which was a little unexpected, all things considered. After all, between the two of them, Kabru was the one who had been with other people before. Sure, he'd never gone quite as far as he did with Laios, but it still should have given him some kind of advantage. Despite his experience, though, he seemed just as excited, and just as out of his depth, as Laios. It was pretty reassuring, and really cute at that.
Kabru pressed a kiss right between Laios’ eyebrows, and another on his temple, and the corners of his eyes and the tip of his nose, to which Laios sniffled appreciatively. He continued to kiss his face, his forehead and his eyebrows and his eyelids, and the corner of his mouth, all the while Laios attempted to return the kisses by licking whichever part of Kabru’s face happened to be the closest to his mouth. Having moved his hand slightly, Kabru proceeded to leave a trail of kisses across his cheek, moving towards his ear, nipping and sucking on the chubby flesh along the way, before finally attacking his ear. Laios squirmed, letting out a shaky whimper when Kabru pressed his lips to his ear canal and teased it with his tongue, which had no right to feel as good as it did. Amused by his reaction, Kabru explored his ear for a little while longer, and then, without removing his mouth, he whispered directly into Laios’ ear: “Would you let me undress you this time?”
Laios gave an eager nod, instantly feeling his cheeks grow warm at the mere thought of Kabru’s hands touching his body in the process of taking off his clothes. The aforementioned hands swiftly moved from his cheeks on to his shoulders, and further down along his sides, before finally grabbing the bottom of his shirt. Kabru began to peel it back, staring hungrily at Laios’ body as more and more of it came to view, his bloated gut hanging out above the waistline of his pants. Kabru paused once the shirt was pulled up to his chest and asked, fluttering his eyelashes, in a deliberately innocent tone: “Could you lift your arms for me, please?” Laios obeyed, raising his arms above his head, careful not to accidentally hit his elbow on the bottom of the top bunk in the process. In one swift motion, Kabru pulled the shirt up over his face, and promptly got stuck. Laios nodded solemnly. This was always the hardest part. Kabru regarded him anxiously, his brows furrowed, chewing on the tip of his pinky finger, and made another attempt at pulling off the shirt, from the back this time. It helped a little, but ultimately made the shirt even more decidedly stuck than before. Laios gave it a moment before making a suggestion that he could stand up to make it easier. Visibly relieved, Kabru nodded, and helped him up. Once he was steady on his feet, Laios lowered his head, allowing Kabru to pull off his shirt without much trouble.
Feeling a little light-headed after that manoeuvre, Laios sat back on the bed, rubbing his temples, scratching his neck and wiping his brow. Kabru climbed into his lap once again and began to grope around, his lips curling into a smile, his eyes sparkling with wonder as they scanned his body, all the while murmuring appreciatively to himself: “How gorgeous! You've got a truly impressive body.” Laios hummed dubiously as he looked down, following Kabru's line of sight, and watched his hands dance across his body, squishing and pinching and poking and kneading his flesh with curiosity and delight that didn't feel earned, but appeared totally sincere.
Laios never thought much of his own body. He didn't hate it as much as he used to in his youth, for all its disappointing unremarkability and pathetic uselessness, the lack of fur or scales, or anything else that would make it worth his while, but while he made peace with his limitations, he still remained thoroughly unimpressed by his physical form. It was a body like any other, wholly unremarkable except for the fact that it was a little bigger than average, which came with its own set of advantages and disadvantages. On the one hand, he could reach high places, but on the other, he always felt as if he was taking up too much space everywhere he went. This was kind of true in his engagements with Kabru, too, except that Kabru didn't seem to mind it at all – on the contrary, he seemed to delight in Laios' largeness and often remarked on it in terms of high praise, complimenting his musculature as well as his plumpness, comparing the size of their hands, craving the closeness of his body even though it left so little room for him on the bed. Kabru once said something about never having had a partner that would be bigger than him before, which was probably why he enjoyed all of these things so much. It flustered Laios a fair bit, especially at first, but it also made him appreciate his own body a little more, in all its blandness and unwieldiness. Anything that made Kabru this happy had to be worth something, after all.
Looking up at Kabru's face, Laios was overcome by the need to respond to his compliment with one of his own. Kabru always had so many nice things to say about him, his body, his personality, his ideas, and the compliments seemed to come to him completely effortlessly, as if it was the most natural thing in the world, which, to him, it seemed to be. Laios, on the contrary, was not good with words. Everything he said ran the risk of coming out wrong, or being taken the wrong way, and his attempts to explain himself only tended to make things worse for him.Granted, he could always repeat Kabru's compliments back at him to be safe, but that felt like a cop-out. A simple compliment wouldn't be enough to convey his feelings, anyhow. He wanted to be more thorough than that, to tell Kabru about all the things that he loved and admired about him, all the ways he found him attractive and cute, all the things he wanted to do to his body – with Kabru's permission, of course. Going this granular would definitely increase the risk of unintentionally saying something weird, though. Obviously, Kabru wasn't going to be mean about it, and he'd probably go out of his way to interpret Laios' words in the most charitable way possible, but he shouldn't have to work so hard at taking a compliment. Then again. receiving no compliments whatsoever was probably worse. Laios felt a pang of guilt. Maybe it would be better to start talking instead of worrying about being misunderstood by the one person in his life who went out of his way to give him grace.
Laios opened his mouth with the intention of complimenting Kabru, only to be momentarily distracted by a flash of green in his hair. Huh! They'd just spent quite a lot of time outdoors, sitting under a tree, so something may have gotten caught in Kabru's hair then. Laios squinted at it in an attempt to identify what it was, which proved impossible without removing it from Kabru's hair first. Well, he would have to do it either way. “Hey. Don't move,” he ordered calmly as he reached towards his hair. Kabru instantly froze, his eyes wide with horror, attempting to follow Laios' hand. Laios gently brushed Kabru's hair aside to make it easier to extract the object, caught it between his fingertips and pulled it up to the light. It turned out to be a large green beetle with a kind of metallic sheen. A beautiful specimen! “Here we go!” he said cheerfully, putting his hand up to his face so that he could admire the beetle. “It must've gotten caught in your hair when we were at the park, and came all the way home with us. Pretty cool!” he rambled excitedly, pointing at his head.
“Oh,” Kabru said weakly, touching the spot with his fingers. “...Thank you.”
“It's really pretty!” Laios went on in a breathy whisper, trying not to move his hand so as not to alarm the beetle. “I wonder what kind of beetle it is. Falin would know if I showed it to her, I bet.” Just then, the beetle spread its wings and flew away, landing on the curtain before escaping through the open window. Laios sent it a wistful look, heaving a sigh. “That's too bad. I'm gonna have to look it up in my encyclopaedia later.” He looked towards Kabru, who still seemed a little out of it, and furrowed his brow in concern. “Hey, are you okay? Something wrong? Is it about the beetle? Don't worry, it's gone now,” he assured, pointing towards the window.
Kabru stared off into the distance, blinking slowly, before finally removing his hand from his hair and lightly shaking his head. “Ah, no, I'm fine. I suppose the bug caught me off guard, that's all. I didn't notice that there was anything in my hair until you brought it up. I appreciate that you took care of it for me,” he said, giving a nod, and sent Laios a smile that seemed entirely sincere. “Now then,” he hummed seductively, giving a wink, “where were we?”
Laios considered for a moment. Where were they, anyway? Oh, right. Laios cleared his throat. “Hey, Kabru...” he prompted, averting his gaze and anxiously licking his lips as he put his hands on Kabru's hips. “...Do you want me to help you take your shirt off, too? It's fine if you don't wanna,” he added quickly, feeling his face grow warm, “but I figured I'd ask, since you did it for me.”
Kabru blinked and, after a moment of hesitation, gave a nod, hiding his smile behind his hand. “Sure. Hopefully you'll do a better job of it than I did,” he joked, lifting his arms above his head.
“I mean, I sure am going to try,” Laios said, letting out a sigh of relief. Now came the hard part, he thought as he put up his hands, trying to figure out how to proceed from there. He never really had to think about what he was doing while he took off his own clothes, since he'd done it so many times before. Whenever he got stuck in the process – which happened quite often since many of his shirts were pretty tight by virtue of being a size too small, making them a pain to put on and take off (just another point in favour of going about in the nude, he thought) – he could typically land on the solution through trial and error, by slightly adjusting the position of his arms and head until they came unstuck. It was a whole different matter to take clothes off someone else's body, though. He couldn't just go through the usual motions, and he had to make sure not to accidentally injure Kabru in the process, too. Well, if Kabru managed to do it for him, then he could probably pull it off, too.
Feeling cautiously optimistic, Laios grabbed the front of Kabru's shirt and pulled it up to his chest, and, after a moment of hesitation, decided that it would make more sense to pull it from the back instead. He urged Kabru to lean forward as he guided the shirt up his back, trying not to get distracted by his bare skin, before quickly grabbing him by the collar and pulling his shirt over his head in one swift motion. Laios let out a sigh. So far, so good. Now, what? He considered his options for a moment, and ultimately decided to try tugging on the sleeves. That worked out well enough, so he kept at it, alternating between the sleeves and the collar, until Kabru was freed from his cotton prison, nearly falling over when his body was pulled forward. His hair had gotten a little messier, but otherwise he seemed perfectly fine. Once he folded the shirt and put it aside, Laios gave a cautious thumbs-up. Kabru responded in kind, sending a wink along with it.
For a moment, it seemed as if neither of them knew how to proceed from there, staring at each other with open appreciation and veiled desire. Kabru was the first to make a move, putting his hand on Laios' inner thigh and slowly moving it up towards his groin, all while maintaining eye contact. He paused with the zipper pinched between his fingertips. Laios gave a nod, helpfully lifting his hips as he reclined against the wall. Kabru began work on his pants, fully focused on the task, which allowed Laios an opportunity to admire him from up close.
Laios had never seen anybody as beautiful as Kabru, in person or in pictures, not even amongst the beast-man that populated his mind. There was something distinctly feline about his features, maybe the shape of his face, with its full cheeks and triangular chin, or maybe his eyes, big and cautious, and so bright that he wouldn't be surprised if they could glow in the dark, or the shape of his mouth when it curled into a smile; he wanted to figure it out to be able to incorporate it into his fursona. Kabru's bushy eyebrows were styled into two thick, neat, symmetrical lines, complimenting the shape of his eyes pretty well. His long, dark, slightly curled eyelashes cast shade on his cheeks every time he blinked. There were dark circles under his eyes, but one couldn't really tell unless they looked very closely. His skin was really smooth, with some barely-visible fluff on his upper lip and a bit of fuzz on his chin and cheeks, and absolutely no zits or pimples – lucky.
His gaze slid down from Kabru's face onto his neck, taking a moment to admire his exposed throat, bulging slightly every time he swallowed, and his prominent collarbones whose shape he wanted to trace with his finger. While generally pretty lean, Kabru had surprisingly broad shoulders and thick arms, which made Laios wonder if he went out of his way to exercise them. Either way, they were pretty appealing. Kabru's forearms were covered in dark, fluffy hair, from his elbows all the way to his wrists, and there was some hair on the backs of his hands and his knuckles, too. His hands were especially beautiful, well-groomed and precise instruments, their movements so graceful as to be hypnotising. Kabru's chest appeared almost perfectly flat, with no padding whatsoever, a pair of dark, hard, perky nipples and a patch of fluffy hair in the middle; Laios couldn't wait to bury his face in it. Another two hairy spots were nestled in each of his armpits, their sweat-soaked smell already driving Laios crazy. Kabru's stomach was almost perfectly flat, his belly button obscured by thick, curly hair which covered much of his lower abdomen, and presumably his groin, too.
Laios twiddled his thumbs in his lap, still trying to work up the courage to speak. There were so many things he could say, should say, and wanted to say, but couldn't bring himself to. The problem was that they didn't really appear to him in the form of words, but rather sensations; pleasant sounds, delicious smells and vibrant colours, warmth spreading through his body like some kind of mysterious liquid spilling out of a non-existent organ, a tingle in his spine, like a kick of electricity, a fluttering, bubbling sensation in his stomach that he used to mistake for a stomachache, but grew to recognise as its own thing, the familiar pressure in his groin, hot flesh swelling and throbbing and twitching and squirming desperately every time Kabru was near, like some kind of radar attuned to his presence. Even if he managed to put these feelings into words, would Kabru want to know about them? Wouldn't they make him uncomfortable? Then again, given that Kabru seemed to be able to read Laios' mind, he probably already knew about all of them – in which case, he didn't need to be told. Ah, but he deserved to hear about them from Laios himself, in his own words.
He awkwardly cleared his throat. “Hey, Kabru...” he prompted, only to become flustered as soon as the pair of bright blue eyes met his, wearing a look of curiosity and preemptive concern. Laios instinctively averted his gaze, feeling his cheeks grow warm. He had no choice but to keep talking, otherwise Kabru would be concerned that something was wrong. Laios took a deep breath. “You're really cute, you know,” he said, innocently pursing his lips. That was a start, at least.
A look of relief passed through Kabru's face, a light chuckle coming out of his mouth. “You had me worried for a moment!” he said, though his tone was pretty carefree. He sent Laios a look so fond and adoring that it caused a shift in his groin, which he could probably feel under his hand. “Why, thank you. You're pretty cute yourself, you know,” he retorted, giving a wink.
Laios stirred in his seat. Now that Kabru responded to his compliment, he had to come up with another one. “A-ah, well...! That may be so, but you're cuter! And you're really handsome, too! And sexy! So sexy!” he went on frantically, gesticulating wildly as he spoke, trying to get the words out before he could stop himself. “I mean, your face...! It's so nice! You've got the prettiest eyes I've ever seen! They're so blue! And your mouth, too, especially when you smile! Ah, it's pretty, I mean, not blue,” he clarified nonsensically, shaking his head. “Whenever I look at you, my heart feels so light...” he added, putting his hand up to his chest. “I've never felt this way before. Sure, there's a lot of stuff I enjoy looking at, but you...” He moved his hands vaguely, feeling a little breathless. “I don't know! I kind of want to look at you forever. I think you said something like that before, about wanting to wake up next to me every day, right? I feel the same way, except even more, I think. When you're with me, everything just feels right, you know?” he glanced towards Kabru and found him hiding his face in his hands, breathing heavily, as if he was crying. “W-whoa, hey, hey!” he said, putting his hand on Kabru's shoulder. “Are you okay? Did I say something wrong? Was that too much? It was too much, wasn't it?” he asked rhetorically, cursing himself.
“No, no!” Kabru exclaimed, removing his hands from his face and grabbing fistfuls of his hair instead. Thankfully, it didn't seem like he was crying. “You didn't say anything wrong, I promise. Everything you said has been quite right, and, um, very flattering. It just took me by surprise, I suppose. I wasn't expecting things to escalate quite this quickly,” he explained, letting out an anxious chuckle. “I have to wonder, though... What brought this on?”
“Uh, well...” Laios considered his answer carefully. “I've been meaning to tell you all of this stuff for a while now, and this seemed like the right time, I guess,” he explained in a matter-of-fact tone. “You're always so nice to me. I'm not really used to it. Other than Falin, people haven't had many nice things to say about me. Thanks to you, though, I'm starting to believe that there really is something to like about me. That's part of why you do it, right? You want to make it up to me, in your own way. That's really kind of you. Anyway,” he went on, idly scratching his cheek, “I know you probably don't need to hear it from me, but I want to tell you nice things, too. The thing about that, though,” he added sadly, “is that I'm not really good at putting things into words. I figured that you deserve better than... well, whatever this is. But, in the end, if I wait until I become really good at giving compliments, then I'm never gonna say anything, which isn't fair to you either.”
Kabru listened to him in awestruck silence, his cheeks gaining a warm, reddish tint. Finally he shook his head. “Wait a second. What do you mean, I don't need to hear it from you? Do you think that I don't value your opinion of me? Or, do you believe that I receive compliments so regularly that yours would not affect me? Of course that wouldn't be the case! You're my boyfriend!” He paused for a moment, furrowing his brow. “...That's not to say that I want you to feel pressured to compliment me, to be clear. I realise I may have come off this way.”
Laios stroked his chin thoughtfully. “Now that you put it this way... I guess that was pretty stupid of me, huh?” He sadly shook his head, but soon cheered up, snapping his fingers. “I guess that's all the more reason to tell you how amazing I think you are! Let's see...” He tapped his chin. “You're such a good kisser! Kissing you always feels really good. I especially like being able to taste the last thing you ate. Ah, but it's also nice to kiss you after you've brushed your teeth, too! Oh, and I like your hair! It's so fluffy, and it always smells so good. Honestly, you always smell awesome, especially when you're super sweaty. You know what else? I like how your nose scrunches up a little when you laugh. It's really cute,” he said fondly. “I already talked about your eyes, but they're really cool, too. Blue eyes are pretty rare in nature. Usually they're a result of some kind of mutation. You could say that makes them pretty special, huh?” He snapped his fingers. “Obviously, it's not just about your body, either! Did I ever tell you that I really like your voice? It's really nice to listen to. I guess that's why I like listening to you talk. That, and you're so smart, too. You know so many things, and you explain them so well! I really admire that. Anyway, I love you.” It took him a moment to realise that the words came out of his mouth, and he nearly bit his tongue off as he looked over at Kabru, who had hidden his face in his hands once again. Laios threw his hands up in a panic. “A-ah! Don't worry, you don't have to say it back...!”
His face still hidden behind his hands, Kabru vigorously shook his head. He opened his mouth, closed it again, took a deep breath, and exhaled sharply, his body trembling. Laios looked at him helplessly, unsure if he should do something to comfort Kabru, apologise for saying too much, or ask him to forget that he said anything at all. Kabru opened his mouth again and whispered something, so quietly that Laios barely heard it, but he knew exactly what it was.
