”I just don’t see the reason we need to attend this stupid gala, you haven’t done anything evil for over two years now,” Luigi grumbles his complaint again as Bowser straightens the dark green bow tie around his own neck.
“Because I have an image to uphold. If I don’t show up then someone like Boo might see it as a sign of weakness, a sign that now he can strike my kingdom down,” Bowser explains again with strained patience.
Luigi hums thoughtfully and lays back on the bed that’s nearly three times his size “Fine, but why do we have to host it? All those villains in our home, what would my brother think.” The Koopa king steps over to the pouting human and smiles warmly “I’ll never get tired of hearing you call it our home,” he hums out as Luigi sits up to match his smile. “We could call it off y’know, stay up here and play,” the brunette purrs as he runs his hands up the koopa’s chest “The kids are with Peach and Mario until tomorrow, we could be as loud as we want.”
Bowser growls out as he leans down closer, clearly liking the suggestion. A loud knock on the door pulls the king away from his dip into temptation as he stands up straight and clears his throat “what?!” He shouts, frustrated at the interruption. “The guests are arriving your highness, your presence is expected.” A Koopa guard calls out nervously. Luigi rolls his eyes and stands up with a sigh “so much for that,” he mumbles under his breath. Bowser presses a quick kiss to the human’s forehead as an apology before they leave the room hand in hand to greet their arriving guests.

Luigi sticks close to his lovers side as they move around the gala greeting each guest while Bowser goes on and on about his ‘evil doings’. All lies that bore the plumber enough to quietly excuse himself to go find something to drink. He sighs and steps up to the bar with no intention to actually order anything, but the villains are all too busy talking about themselves so at least here he can get some quiet.
”Getting away from the noise?” The voice to his right startles him just enough to flinch and turn his head sharp. The man standing there has a much softer look than the others in the large room, almost like he doesn’t belong. Luigi smiles politely and nods “They can be a lot to deal with, especially considering the history I have with some of them,” he explains, a quick side eye at King boo sends a spike of fear down his spine. The man hums in agreement as he glances around the room “I seem to have lost my boss, unfortunately he can get rather…rowdy at these events.”
”I can go find him for you, I’m used to these events so I don’t mind the crowd so much,” Luigi offers as he waves his hand like it’s no big deal. The stranger lights up a bit as relief seems to fill him “would you? I’m so new to this all and I don’t know anyone here, I don’t think the doctor would like me making anyone angry,” he explains. The plumber raises a brow “the doctor?” He questions. The man nods “Dr. Robotnik is my boss. Oh! Sorry, I’m Agent Stone but you can just call me Stone,” he offers his hand out with a smile.
Luigi mirrors his smile and shakes his hand “It’s nice to meet you Stone, I’m Luigi.” They part after the introduction and Luigi starts on his search for this Doctor Robotnik.
The human pushes through annoyingly tall villains and too many conversations about evil plans until he finally finds the man with the large mustache and circular glasses like Stone described. Luigi steps forward and offers a hand in greeting “Dr. Robotnik, it’s an honor to meet you sir.” The man himself stares curiously at the brunette’s hand until a malicious smile finds his lips and he meets the handshake. “Well, aren’t you a pretty little thing,” Eggman hums out, his much larger hand engulfs Luigi’s in a firm shake.
The smaller human smiles politely before speaking, “Thank you Doctor, I just came to find you because-“ his words cut off as Eggman uses the handshake to tug Luigi against his chest. “These events are always so painfully boring, wouldn’t it be so fun to stir up some trouble~”
Luigi hesitates as his eyes scan the room, none of the villains seem to be paying them any mind. “I uh…I’m not here for that sir, Stone sent me to find you,” the plumber explains as he tries to tug his hand out of the other man’s grip. Eggman hums in amusement “So you met my assistant, cute one isn’t he?” Robotnik chuckles as his free hand grabs onto Luigi’s waist lightly. Luigi huffs out a breath and tugs his hand again with no luck “you better take your hands off me or I swear I’ll kick your little-“ the hand on his waist moves up to grip his jaw as Eggman interrupts him “shush, just look who’s attention we have,” he whispers before tilting Luigi’s head to the right and letting him see the deep red eyes staring from across from across the crowd of villains. Luigi stops struggling as realization of what Eggman is doing starts to settle in his thoughts. “Not to worry, I won’t touch what isn’t mine,” Robotnik chuckles as he lets go of the brunette's jaw to run it down Luigi’s left arm and raise his hand, showing off the silver ring on the plumber's finger. “That old turtle must’ve spent a pretty penny on this, hm?”
Luigi can’t bring any words to his mouth as he locks eyes with Bowser, there’s smoke swirling out of his nostrils and his shoulders keep falling then rising with his heavy breathing.
He can’t remember the last time he saw the Koopa king this angry.
Before he can tell the doctor to quit messing around, the Koopa is already storming across the room, pushing past villains and baring his sharp teeth. Eggman laughs as he watches without a care in the world “this should make things interesting,” he muses. Before Bowser can stomp over and start a fight with the large man, Stone steps out of the crowd with a tight smile and crossed arms. “Doctor, I do hope you’re not causing any problems here,” the man speaks calmly but something about the undertone of his words makes Luigi nervous. It seems the doctor catches it too because he lets go of the plumber almost immediately. Bowser relaxes a bit as he steps up and takes his place next to Luigi.
Stone offers the two an apologetic smile before speaking “I must apologize on the doctor’s behalf, apparently he thinks stirring up relationship trouble is funny,” he sighs as Robotnik stands nervously. Bowser growls out a puff of smoke as his glare settles on Eggman “keep your hands off my stuff,” is all he huffs out before dragging Luigi off with a grip on his wrist. “B- hey, slow down,” the human complains as Bowser rushes them out of the ballroom and through the castle’s halls. “B, come on he was just being an ass,” Luigi tries to calm the Koopa down but with no success.
They end up back in their bedroom where Bowser drops Luigi onto the bed and huffs out an angry breath “Just…wait here until the Gala is over,” he grumbles out before turning to leave. Luigi stands up and catches Bowser’s hand before he can leave “stop, talk to me.”
The Koopa king mumbles something under his breath before turning to the human “I’m calling off the gala and sending them all home,” he explains, still clearly frustrated. Luigi nods slowly “okay, is that what you want or is that what what you think I want?” He hums out as his hands reach up to cup Bowsers face. The Koopa lets his body relax before he responds “I don’t want to do this anymore. I want to spend the rest of the night in bed with you,” he mumbles out. Luigi smiles softly and nods “okay, I’ll wait up here for you my king,” he presses a kiss onto his lovers lips before pulling away and sitting back on the bed. Bowser nods and steps out of the door before glancing back.
“Hurry back now,” the brunette teases as he starts unbuttoning his tux with a sly smile.
