Chapter 1: Awake

Chapter Text

The brakes of bus route 14 squealed as the vehicle rolled to a stop.

CC stepped onto the sidewalk, brown hair blowing in the wind. They paid no mind to the wind, though, playing it off as the weather being trash this time of year.

They approached the school building, already planning interactions that were doomed to happen. CC thanked the person holding the door as they headed to the cafeteria, where they would encounter their friends.

CC noticed Rose first, her long blue hair, hot pink jacket, and galaxy leggings standing out amongst the rest. Rose was talking to Destiny, who was wearing the same Lilo and Stitch hoodie and grey sweatpants as she always did.

It was the blonde with a book in her hand that caught CC’s eye. Janie, with her blue eyes and tanned skin, was one of CC’s good friends. She wore a green and grey striped shirt with a denim skirt and grey leggings.

They were all sitting at their usual table in the middle of the cafeteria, talking loudly about random subjects.

Just before CC could get to the table, there was a flash of light.

Everything was black.

Then yellow.

Then blue

Then red.

Then nothingness was everything, and everything became nothingness once again…

┈・୨ ✦ ୧・┈Time falls, as do we.

When their eyes opened again, they were NOT in a school or anywhere remotely close.

CC picked themself up, freezing halfway.

Their T-shirt, jeans, and many accessories had been replaced by a red tunic and brown pants. The material felt weird and unknown, and the outfit looked straight out of a museum despite feeling new.

It wasn’t just the outfit that felt wrong.

It was CC’s body as well.

CC felt so light yet so heavy.

CC felt…

Older.

“What the fuck happened?”

┈・୨ ✦ ୧・┈This was not intended.

Janie couldn’t move.

Everything felt WRONG

She felt light.

Too light.

She opened her eyes to a sky too bright. It smelled like she was on the floor of a garden.

When did I lie down in a garden? She thought.

She looked down at herself and nearly screamed.

She was way skinnier than she was not even five minutes ago. Am I wearing a fucking gown? Her eyes widened,

She was. She was wearing a floor-length, deep green, honest-to-God gown with long sleeves and gold accents.

The fabric felt like something she would feel at an event to bring nostalgia to near-dead old people.

Suddenly, a figure emerged from behind a large row of shrubs.

“Oh, Lady Winters, what are you doing?! You’ll get your gown dirty, and you know how his lordship gets when you dirty the gowns. Get up off the ground.”

With the sun in Janie’s eyes, she couldn’t see him. Lady Winters? Is that whose body I'm in? But how? And who is “His lordship”?

A bigger question emerged.

Where are the others?

And where the hell am I?

┈・୨ ✦ ୧・┈For worthy payment.

Rose felt ill.

She was leaning on something hard, like a tree, but she couldn’t really tell over the pounding in her ears.

Everything was blurry. Where are my glasses? She questioned internally

Rose felt around for them but she found nothing but grass.

She blinked a few times and blocked the sun from her view, hoping to clear the glare in her eyes.

It worked better than she thought it would.

Rose ignored the odd occurrence and instead focused on the clothing she was now wearing.

Her favorite jacket had been replaced by a black dress with a blue apron and a white blouse underneath.

Her leggings had been replaced by a skirt that went to her ankles.

“What the heck?” Rose muttered the question, not expecting an answer.

“Madam Rosana! Are you–” A figure emerged into view from somewhere in front of her.

“Madam! What are you doing out here near the forest's edge? You should be at your stall, sir Leroy has been waiting for your assistance!

Rose just blinked up at the figure.

She guessed the figure was that of a girl around twelve.

The girl had what Rose assumed to be a basket in her arms, probably from the stall that was mentioned.

Rose noticed that the basket held something red- most likely apples- that heavily contrasted the young girl's yellow dress.

The girl's black hair seemed to be fixed in a tight bun, and now that she thought about it, Rose realized that her hair was in the same condition.

“Madam Rosana? Are you feeling alright? You're squinting and seem disoriented..” The black-haired girl asked, a look of worry written on her face.

And although Rose couldn't see it, she could hear it.

And for some unknown reason.

Rose was scared.

┈・୨ ✦ ୧・┈ Find Us.

Notes:

That's it for now.

I have a lot of ideas for this and will be updating the chapters I post as I write more!

I've been sick recently and have been testing so I probably won't update this a lot until around June unless I get motivated again.

Also if you want me to make an update log for everything I add on just comment.

Anyways

Thank you for reading this dumb little fic I made! -CC
