Woonhak is trying his best not to punch in the face his friend who's been on his ass all day in work, he took a deep sigh and shook his head. His friend and also co-worker Taesan has been bothering or teasing him as always again, Woonhak doesn't know how to make him stop from teasing him, so all he did was quietly resign. “Woonhak-ah, can you help me?” Leehan said, he handed out some papers of list of reports of cases. “Yeah sure.” Woonhak replied.
He looked through the papers and read through everything. He notices a report about group of vampires and werewolves being detained because of involvement to the riot that happened last week, there were 3 vampires and 4 werewolves. Somehow this report made him pause, he always wanted to prove to everyone that they don't always bring trouble to humans. Leehan noticed that Woonhak pause at one particular report that he doesn't wanna take.
“Woonhak, are you interested in that case?” Leehan put a hand on Woonhak's shoulder. Woonhak look over Leehan, he can see Leehan's uptight face—he felt his hands gripping tighter on his shoulder. He thought to himself–maybe Leehan doesn't like vampires or werewolves, maybe both, but he wants his friend to realize that not all of them are bad.
Woonhak held Leehan's hand and smiled. It caught Leehan off guard, he doesn't understand Woonhak's intention but it made him calm. “Yeah, I mean it doesn't matter who we choose right? As long as we guard and keep checking on them it'll be fine.” Woonhak said in a calmest tone ever, Leehan smiles. He shuffled Woonhak's hair and gathered the papers he handed to Woonhak. Woonhak doesn't understand Leehan's actions. “Okay, I'll tell Jaehyun about it. Don't worry I'll just make up reasons to him.” Leehan left him and went to Jaehyun's office.
Sungho arrived at their agency, he saw Leehan going to Jaehyun's office, Woonhak and Taesan on eachother's ass again, and Riwoo playing games on his computer—the usual stuffs in the agency. He walked to his desk and spread out his files that he needed to finish today. He began his work as always, he just need to focus on his work and don't acknowledge anything that surrounds him, but everyone needs to be on everyone's business in this team.
Woonhak approaches his desk after Taesan left because he was sent on a patrol. He grabbed a chair and sat beside Sungho and that's it. He didn't move, he didn't bother him, and he didn't even make a single noise. He was just staring at Sungho doing his work and that bothers Sungho a lot, he doesn't like being observed while doing his work. “What do you want Woonhak?” Sungho finally asked, he sighed and stopped doing his work.
But instead of answering like Woonhak always do, he just stared for a while, and then he grinned. Sungho let his guards up, he knew Woonhak is onto something with that grin on his face. « He's creeping me out. » he thought to himself. “Do you like vampires and werewolves?” Woonhak said. Sungho paused for a second, he didn't expect that question. Why would he even ask that?
“No.” Sungho answered. Such an honest, blunt, and short answer. Now, Woonhak didn't expect that kind of answer, well he expected it, but the way Sungho said it caught him off guard. “Oh.” That's the only thing Woonhak managed to say, that's Sungho's que to go back to work. Silence filled the air between them, a little bit tense but bearable, but Woonhak groans broke the silence that felt like centuries have passed. “I don't know if I want to ask you the reason or what.” Woonhak told to himself, Sungho heard it too because it seems like Woonhak forgot to put his thoughts inside his head bubbles.
“I think you forgot to put your thoughts inside your bubbles, Woonhak.” He looked at Sungho, but he shook his head, and pushed his chair to get closer to Sungho. Sungho raised a brow, Woonhak looked straight to Sungho's eyes and said with the most straightest face possible: “Oh I wanted you to hear that.” Somehow Woonhak's honesty made Sungho laughed out loud. Woonhak was utterly surprised by this reaction, it caught Riwoo's attention too while he was playing some games.
Riwoo was completely distracted by it, he approached Sungho's deck, but all he witnessed was Sungho laughing hysterically and Woonhak having dumbfounded expression plastered on his face. “What the fuck is going on over here?” Woonhak finally notices Riwoo's presence. “I actually don't know, he just started laughing like that.” Riwoo can't believe what he was hearing, before he could leave a notification popped on his phone.
It was Jaehyun messaging on their group chat. “Hey stop acting crazy Sungho, Jaehyun wants us in the meeting room.” Sungho's laughter slowly fades away and he immediately locked in. “Did they finally decided which case are we going to deal with?” Sungho asked Riwoo, Woonhak feels like he wasn't even in the room with them, even so he didn't interrupt them. “Yeah I guess, gosh this is gonna be so boring.” Riwoo complained, he went back to his desk, so did Woonhak, they tidied up their things.
While Riwoo is cleaning up his desk Woonhak is already carrying his things, Riwoo noticed Woonhak always insisted on carrying his things for him, he like it though. “Let's go.” Sungho ordered, Riwoo quickly cleaned his desk and followed behind Woonhak and Sungho.
They arrived at the meeting room and Leehan and Jaehyun is already there, papers of case reports are scattered around the table. They sat down in their chairs and looked through the case reports, Woonhak realized this is the case report he recommended to Leehan earlier.
“Why did he remove his suppressor?” Riwoo asked while he read-through the suspect's case file. “Based on the interrogation that detective Kim had with the suspect — he removed the suppressor because it malfunctioned and it started to electric shook him uncontrollably.” Leehan explained — he took a bite of his hotdog sandwich. Jaehyun noticed that Sungho didn't show any kind of reaction regarding that topic, that bothered Jaehyun.
“Was it proven true?” Woonhak asked, Jaehyun flicked his finger and pointed it to Woonhak. “No, when they inspected his suppressor it didn't show any sign of malfunctioning.” Jaehyun then made a click of tongue, Woonhak furrowed his brows « Why would he lie about something like that. » he thought to himself. “That didn't turn out well.” Sungho said in the most flat tone with a hint of sarcasm in it.
“That was a first.” The way Sungho said it didn't show any amusement or surprise in it. “It is a first.” Riwoo was surprised by this information, vampires are usually known for their aggressive nature when being detained. “However, he was hard to catch. He was one of the fastest out of all suspects, while he was running away he hit a dead-end. So, he just gave himself in.” Jaehyun explained, he let out a snort because he find it amusing.
“Talk about unluckiness.” Riwoo murmured, he grabbed a donut and took a bite.
Everyone was silenced for a while because of the suspect no. 3's case file, this is their first ever first-hand degree homicide detainee. “Ehem! He's one of the dangerous and the hardest to detain. According to reports — over 50 hunters were injured and 10 were hospitalized while trying to detain him.” Leehan declared, he was almost out of breath after explaining. Everyone's face is uptight, their guards up. “That's fucking messed up.” Woonhak mumbled to himself.
“He's in strict supervision and monitoring, it will be difficult to transport him to the waiting room. Sungho sent a request for stringent surveillance to the Hunter Organization when we depart him, and Riwoo request for permission to the Criminal Corporation to approve our transportation to all of the detainees.” Jaehyun ordered, they both nodded and took a note of that.
“He looks normal.” Woonhak proclaimed, he can feel his chest relieved, Leehan let out laugh hearing that. “Yeah, normal.” Leehan continued laughing because of Woonhak's statement. “I researched him earlier because I thought he looked too normal for a detainee to be detained in the most secured prison. Based on my research, he infact almost stabbed a hunter, but another hunter tackled him to the ground.” Riwoo asserted.
Woonhak's defeated reaction made everyone laugh, he now accepts that there will be no normal suspect they'll handle. Riwoo find Woonhak adorable, nothing else, just pure adoration.
“He looks hot.” Leehan stated, he bit his finger while looking at the suspect's profile picture. “Insane statement, but facts.” Jaehyun agreed, then the both of them laugh to each other. “Are you guys gonna explain anything or you'll just continue simping over him?” Sungho said.
“Okay sorry. He transformed into a werewolf when a hunter accidentally injured him while detaining him, he injured over 5 hunters. A stun gun was used to stop him from his rampage.” Leehan explained. Sungho raised his eyebrow because of that information. “I'm guessing he doesn't like to see his own blood.” Sungho stated, they turned their heads on him, how could you drop a statement like that with a flat tone?
“Okay, what the fuck!?” Riwoo blurted out, he can not believe what he's reading right now, even Sungho can't believe what he's reading. “Surprising, right?” Jaehyun chuckled. “We were surprised too, but of course we researched him up, the only reason why he was sent to the Central Prison because he was seen in his werewolf form.” Leehan explained further.
“Why the fuck.” Woonhak mumbled to himself. Jaehyun heard what Woonhak said. “We're not certain why too, but we can help him to not get convicted on his trial.” Jaehyun added, that made everyone go silent, they definitely don't wanna get involved in a trial.
“Did he really set everything in shambles then turned his self in when the police can't find him?” Woonhak asked in disbelief, this is definitely a chaotic and comedic turn of events, it's so amusing that Sungho finally let out chuckle. “He's something else.” Sungho said. “He's definitely fun to hangout with.” Riwoo added.
“Well, not exactly. During his interrogation with detective Kim Ha Joon, he said that he started the fire because he thought adding fires in the riot will be a great visual effect for the fight, he left in the middle of the fight and when he came back he heard Hunter Organization was in the scene, so he gave himself in so he won't be any more serious trouble.” Leehan explained — he giggled to what he just said, because it's definitely a comedic turn of events.
“So we're going for the most difficult one now huh.” Sungho said, he let out a disbelief sigh. Jaehyun isn't bothered by this reaction at all because he expected it. “It will be fun! This our first time handling vampires and werewolves, I'm tired handling bullshits of humanity.” Jaehyun claimed, while Woonhak was reading the profiles of the suspects he saw that almost all of them are closer to their ages.
“Wow, they're close to our ages.” Jaehyun grinned with Woonhak's comment, Sungho was surprised that Woonhak notices that, Riwoo is stunned, he didn't notice that, he was impressed. “Our baby is getting smarter~~~” Jaehyun teases, Woonhak now regrets sitting close to Jaehyun, now his cheeks are being pinched like crazy. “I'm guessing you chose this because you thought we can handle them because we're close to their ages.” Riwoo said while still looking through the profiles of each suspects.
“We do believe we can handle them until their trial in 3 weeks.” Leehan explained while fixing his glasses. “Fixing your glasses as if there's a glass in there at all.” Sungho teased, Leehan cleared his throat and by that — the room erupted with laughter.
The meeting went smooth, Taesan manages to somehow attend the meeting. After the meeting everyone went to do their own work, they continued what they left before the meeting occurred. Woonhak joined Taesan on his patrol, they're in charge of patrolling the Hollywood Street. They gave tickets to people who violates the no parking rule, it annoys Taesan when people still parks to a no parking place when the signs are clearly there. They helped a lady with her groceries, catch some thieves on run in streets, even helped a kid get their kitten back. After doing all that they bought themselves some donuts and sodas, they took a little a break from patrolling, but when they finally started enjoying their foods some kid just stole from a store. “You've gotta be fucking with me.” Taesan said before running off to catch the kid.
After they caught the kid they quickly ate their foods, they know anytime now there will be somone who needs help, they just can't catch a break. “Why did we even choose to have this job?” Woonhak said — he took a sip of his soda and passed it to Taesan – he also took a sip on the soda. “It's the money I swear. I wouldn't be here if weren't for the salary.” Taesan replied, he tossed the can of soda to the bin and stood up — he started stretching out. Woonhak just stared at Taesan and his ridiculous schemes. Woonhak watched people passing by, different species, he noticed that the suppressing accessories that is used by Vampires and Werewolves are too tight.
Even in children, it looks too tight that he wondered whether it hurts wearing that everyday. He doesn't understand why they must wear those until today, Vampires no longer have thirst in blood to humans, same goes to Werewolves—they no longer need human flesh to fully satisfy their hunger. Taesan notices the expression on Woonhak's face as he watch Vampires and Werewolves passed by. “I know what you're thinking Woonhak, I'm afraid it will never change.” Taesan blatantly said, something about his tone made Woonhak think Taesan wanted what he said. “Yeah, maybe in the future it will.” Woonhak's optimism didn't entertained Taesan at all, he knew it will never change, and hoping for it to change is like hoping for the dead to comeback to life.
“Yeah, whatever fantasy you have in your mind.” Taesan then scoffed, Woonhak is still young, just turned an adult months ago, he knew Woonhak isn't naive or gullible at all, he just hope too much for his own good. He patted the back of Woonhak and told him they're going back to the agency.
Sungho and Jaehyun arrived at the EO Prison to transport the detainees they're handling to this place they called The Waiting Room , basically just a large facility with full of suspects, they put them there for secure inspections before their trials and if they get convicted they will be the one to monitor them on their parole period to how many years the judge will give them. The team usually only handles the easy group of suspects with less damaging crimes because they have shorter period of parole, but longer period of parole means more money in their term.
BND Team have strict security, routines, and rules. The waiting room actually looks like a kindergarten in disguise, they treat the suspects like stubborn kids. The waiting room is a place like a kindergarten school. They have bathrooms for females, males, and non-binaries. A canteen where they serve nutritional and delicious foods, they also have vending machine and coffee maker there. Activity room is where they operate their to-do list, the to-do list changes every week. There are 4 rooms for lectures, a room for court trials, a room for literature, a room for math, and a room for science. Then the bedrooms, there is over 20 bedrooms in the second floor, each suspects have their own bedroom, it's air-conditioned, warm and soft beds, windows where you can enjoy the nature outside. The backyard looks like a park, it's large space where you can do any kind of activities.
They're pretty wealthy as you can see, they have a salary over 500 - 700 thousands every 3 months, each of them get paid 3 - 7 millions whenever they handle group of suspects with or without paroles. Proper use of money, at least they're not corrupt, right?
Taesan and Woonhak came back to the agency, it's almost time to leave so they gathered all their belongings and cleaned their desks. Eventually, some went home, some left to do more work outside, and some stayed behind to finish some things up — they are Woonhak and Riwoo. Riwoo is still checking the profiles of the suspects—still investigating the case, he needed to make a report of notice to the EO Criminal Corporation that they'll be handling some difficult group of individuals, he's going to ask for permission from the head. They never handled things like this before — his report of notice must be flawless for it to be approved.
Well, for Woonhak, he stayed behind because he's waiting for Riwoo to go home. He wanted to walk Riwoo home, believe it or not Woonhak seemed to be more attached to Riwoo than his other friends and co-workers, quick—act shock! Woonhak is making himself busy with playing games on the computer while waiting for Riwoo to finish his work. Riwoo didn't notice Woonhak is there – he's so focused on his report that he didn't even hear Woonhak literally yelling right beside him. But Riwoo was startled when someone suddenly touched his shoulder and spoke in a very weird low voice.“Woah sorry, I didn't mean to scare you.” He removed his hand out of Riwoo's shoulder, Riwoo sighed in relief when he realized it was just Woonhak.
“What are you still doing here? I thought you went home like the others.” Riwoo said while he continued working on his report. Woonhak is feeling conflicted to what he's gonna say, he took a deep breath and gathered all his courage. “Want to eat something? I'm going to buy foods, my treat.” He succeeded to ask Riwoo. Riwoo paused, he turn around to face Woonhak. He stared for a while and it's making Woonhak overthinking his whole existence — he doesn't know why he felt that way.
Riwoo raised a brow and a curve on his lips formed. “Your treat, you said.” The way he said is making Woonhak's stomach starts doing backflips inside him. He turned off his computer and abandoned his report, he grabbed his jacket and beanie, and he stood up. “You're coming with me?” Woonhak asked, he's not expecting this of course, who would've expect it? “Yeah, well you said it's your treat, I wouldn't want to miss it.” He let out a short giggle, oh Woonhak's head is going crazy because of that, and he doesn't know why. “O-okay, then let's go.”
