Work Text:
Today, the sunset looked strangely peaceful than other days.
The sunlight gently touched the new base, especially the laboratory.
Genji was there with Angela, adjusting the final details of his new body, his true self.
In a few hours, Overwatch would fight against Talon. The battle that would decide their future in the world.
After so long, Genji had finally found peace. And his loyalty to Overwatch was stronger than ever.
Once the logo was engraved onto his arm, he looked at the mirror.
He could see his own reflection without shame.
– You look well, Genji. – Mercy said walking toward him, standing behind.
– I'm a different man now. I'm whole.
Mercy smiled.
– I'm proud of you. It was a hard road and now... here we are. – she said, placing her hand on his shoulder.
He placed his hand over hers, smiled and then turned around to look at her.
She gently brushed away the strand of hair that had fallen over his face so she could look clearly into his eyes.
For so long, she had hoped to see his face again. The face of the man who played such an important role in her life... and who still remained by her side. She was pleased.
– Come on. – she said and walked away but Genji took her hand, stopping her.
Genji stayed on silent for a moment but kept the eye contact.
– I... I just want to tell you... I'm grateful that you're a part of my life... Angela.
She looked at him with surprise and tenderness.
Still holding hands, she stepped closer again and rested her other hand against his cheek, gently touching his scars.
He closed his eyes for a second, feeling her warmth.
– So do I, Genji. – she replied softly.
The sunlight now painted their silhouettes in gold.
They looked at each other's lips.
She took the first step and kissed him. He responded immediately.
One of Genji's hands held her face and the other rested on her waist, meanwhile Angela's hands rested against his chest.
All this time, they had been each other’s vulnerability, and they couldn't hide it anymore.
The passion increased and both ended up bumping into the desk.
With their hearts racing, they gently pulled apart and, with their foreheads touching, they shared a shy and funny smile.
Whatever awaited them, nothing would tear them apart. They would make sure of that.
They kissed again.
Their love bloomed like sakura petals in the spring wind.
THE END
