Chapter Text
One day at school your friend, Lillian, was talking to you while you two were skipping a class in the bathroom, occasionally walking around and going to other bathrooms so you two wouldn't get caught.
You two were walking and she brought up the topic of guys and who you two were currently seeing, talking too, and even hooking up with.
You and your friend were close, so close that you two were the type to say that tmi just means tell me more.
You didn't mind it much though since you two had your fair share of male centered girls growing up in middle school, all the way up until 10th grade.
You both came to a conclusion that talking about guys was fine as long as you both kept it to a respectful amount.
Guys wasn't the only thing you two talked about either, and that's what you loved about her.
"Hey y/n, did I tell you about this guy I met like about a week ago?"
Your friend asked you as you two made your way out of a bathroom you two were just settled in for a few minutes.
You thought to yourself, trying to remember if she did or didn't but you can't remember shit.
You can't tell if it's the blinker you just took with her or if it was your actual bad memory, but you didn't put too much thought into it.
"Uhh no, I don't think so?"
You replied, accidentally sounding like you answered her question with another question.
"Okay, so, I met him off of purp and his name is Ruu, he's so fine like I'm talking about tatts all across his hands, arms, and his neck!! Plus, he's a dealer and he lets me smoke some of his weed- it's fucking amazing!"
She explained in excitement, you could tell she was excited by the way she rambled on about him.
You were too self-reserved to be as bold with guys like Lillian, maybe it's because you spent too much time on your phone and saw the way people treat women with high body counts or it's the anxious feeling you get at the thought of getting with random people you don't know a thing about other than a face and a name.
Of course you weren't a virgin, you've had past relations with guys, just not the way Lillian does.
She goes out with guys she meets the days of and maybe keeps them around if she likes the way they perform in bed or benefit her in other ways, plus she gets tired of the same people for an extended period of time.
You on the other hand? You hated guys that were easy and desperate.
You liked when guys crushed on you or started out as friends and turned into a fling, you liked when there was a "we shouldn't be doing this" touch to the dynamic.
The downside to that was worrying about the guys you decided were worthy enough telling their friends on top of the possibility of them telling other people and just creating a whole situation full of people gossiping about who slept with who.
You've never had that happen to you but you've heard people gossiping in the bathrooms when they thought they were alone.
You thought it was weird since you never saw the point in caring about that stuff, unless it was someone you liked or if one or both of them was connected to people you personally knew.
But most of the time you heard gossip like that, it was always girls talking about guys or other girls in their classes.
That's what you worried about.
There's always this thought popping up in the back of your head, telling you that one day, one of the guys you're keeping it under the wraps with is going to bring the things you two have been doing in the dead of night to light and that you're going to be the one that girls gossip about in the bathrooms when nobody's around.
Lillian always reassured you that you're going to be fine as long as you set up boundaries and make it known that you don't want them telling anyone anything about you two, and she was right but it still was a thought that you got whenever you would think about past relations randomly at night.
Tonight was one of those nights and it was late, you stayed up because it was Friday night and you finally had the chance.
You were bored but you weren't tired, so you went back to scrolling on social media after playing games for so long and came across an ad for that app Lillian was talking about a while ago.
You paused your doomscrolling so you could think about how you constantly worried about this guy you're currently seeing telling his friends.
He's one of those guys that's loud with his friends, "class clown" that constantly tries to be funny and sometimes fails and is probably the least liked of his friend group.
You thought it was cute how he would walk with you and make small talk with you when you were walking to or from your class to a destination you were sent off to.
He didn't talk to you in class because he told you that his friends would talk shit about him approaching you and taking interest in you.
You liked the way he showed genuine interest in your side of the conversation, you liked the way he would actually remember what you said whenever you asked him if he remembered when you told him about certain things going on in your life.
Soon enough, you two had started hanging out on your own.
You two skipped classes you two didn't have together so people wouldn't find it suspicious, then you two moved on to hanging out after school and eventually got to hanging out on the weekends until he worked up the courage to hook up with you.
You loved how genuine he was in conversation with you, so of course you took him up on his offer.
You liked how he treated you when you two would hang out by yourselves so much that it overshadowed the way he treated you when you two had classes together, especially when he had a friend or a few in that class.
He treated you like he didn't know and didn't like you, often ignoring you or messing with you if his friends started it first so the relations you two shared wouldn't get brought to light.
Despite joining in of the tiny dog pile that his friends would start with you, he always texted you later that day that he didn't mean it.
You appreciated it but it always made you a little shitty on the inside with how quick he was to join in.
You were considering dropping him soon enough anyways, so why not try and find someone on purp?
You sat on that thought for a few more minutes until you decided that it wouldn't hurt to try and mess around with a guy you met online.
You installed the app, waited impatiently for it to download and made an account with your best pictures.
Lillian told you all about purp to influence you to install it and get out of your shell so you knew how the basics of it worked outside of the tutorial the app gave you.
She told you that if you wanted guys in your state that you could set your preferences to filter out people from other states and choose if you want to see guys or girls exclusively with both genders obviously being an option.
You set the app preferences to your own and got to scrolling, looking at the type of guys she sees on here.
Honestly? A lot of them were fine as shit.
You noticed that you were getting chats since the app boosted your account due to it being new.
Most of them were a simple hey with a few of them being guys that sent messages that objectified you.
Lillian told you that happens often and that it's something you should expect but she never told you the things they said since she never expected you to actually download that app.
Now you know what she meant whenever she told you that guys on there were desperate, you stared at those chats for a second before you clicked off and guided your focus to the guys you can find by scrolling through profiles.
While you scrolled you took time to look at their pictures, analyzing their poses and the things they put on their accounts.
During the time you looked through profiles you developed your preferences on the things guys put out there.
You took a liking to guys that obviously were attractive but you also hit up guys that were older and had cars so you didn't have to worry about how you're going to see each other, guys that took care of themselves and didn't put up pictures of them in pajamas or stained and wrinkled clothes, guys that you'd think that would text you back and show interest in you.
You got varied replies, some being boring, extra desperate, and some saying that they had no interest in you but those were obviously outshined by the rest.
You weren't ugly or anything, you knew how to do makeup, you knew how to dress, and you weren't fat but you definitely weren't skinny but you were the perfect weight to still be able to get attention from the boys.
You replied to the guys that texted you back and let the conversations continue until you gut tired of them or when they got your Instagram and stop replying to you in there.
You got a fair amount of guys you could talk to for a bit off of that app and you wrapped it up when you decided enough was enough.
When you got off and took a moment to yourself, you noticed that you finally started to get tired.
As you got ready for bed you thought about how happy you were to actually be talking to guys you were attracted to outside of school.
It was the next morning and you checked your phone just to see that you woke up to two good mornings from the guys you talked to last night, you replied to them with a good morning and talked to both of them until the conversation died out.
With that, you took the chance to wake yourself up properly with some coffee and a side of morning doomscrolling.
You wasted your morning away with doing things like texting some of the other guys you met last night, playing games like Minecraft or Roblox.
It was 3 in the afternoon and you were so bored, you did this every weekend when you weren't busy or had any plans with Lillian.
It was killing you at this point and while you were looking at the notes your mutuals on Instagram put up you saw that Lillian posted a note about how bored she was so you texted her and asked her to hangout.
She eagerly replied and agreed to hangout with you and asked you if you asked you parents yet, you didn't so you told her that and immediately went to go ask them, and received their approval almost immediately since you were doing good in and outside of school.
You relayed that information to Lillian and continued the conversation with planning out what you two are going to do.
Once you two settled on a day out at the mall and the conversation was wrapped up, you got ready to go out and dressed casual but nice.
Your mom dropped you two off at the mall, telling you to text or call her when you're ready to get picked up and left after giving you money for you to spend.
Almost immediately after she left and you two had stepped inside, you brought up the fact that you finally installed purp.
"Holy shit, no way??"
She said in disbelief, she knew that you weren't the type to mess around with just anyone, so it was a surprise to her.
She was definitely proud of you though, the smile on her face gave it away even though she wasn't trying to hide it.
"Yeah- so I texted some people and I actually started a rotation like you suggested, but I don't know if it'll last long y'know I like messing around with one guy at a time."
You said with a small laugh, knowing exactly how it'd go down with the ones you didn't like keeping around.
"Oh totally, I understand where you're coming from big time. If you need help, let me know girl, you know how good my match making skills are"
Lillian said with a smile on her face, reminding you of times when you two were out together and she'd find you the perfect man to hangout with for the night.
You gave it thought since she actually helped you get a guy you really liked one time, and agreed since you knew she knew how to pick out guys.
You two spent about an hour and a half just shopping, talking about random things, and beating a dead horse or two in the meantime.
Lillian brought up the idea of going to the food court and grabbing something to eat so you two could sit down and find someone you could start a little fling with, and you agreed since you haven't eaten since breakfast.
You two settled on some panda express, ordered and chose a booth for the purpose of privacy.
You two ate first and talked about the type of guys you liked in detail so Lillian could get a better idea of what type of guys to look out for.
Lillian asked for your phone and asked you to unlock it so she could hop on purp for you and start looking.
You happily complied and did exactly what she asked before you handed over your phone to her and she got to looking.
There was a short silence that only lasted a few seconds before she showed you a guy, he was a nerdy white boy that was obviously tall by the way his frame was built and you declined since you didn't really have a crave for nerdy boys right now, or at least white nerdy boys.
Nothing against white people, they just weren't your first choice in nerdy guys.
Lillian hummed in response and showed you a semi-attractive car guy with tattoos on his arms, you declined that one too since you already had your deal of the same exact guys at school teasing you or not so secretly dissing you on something small like your outfit or style and you didn't want to risk him being one of those guys.
This went on with three more guys until she showed you this hispanic guy with a black mullet, not too flashy style but not unkept and messy.
The only thing that really stood out to you was the fact he flexed his Minecraft stats, you could tell that he played Minecraft a lot but you didn't mind that much since that's kinda all you do too.
"Wait! I like this one, lemme see him."
You said in excitement at the fact that someone had finally piqued your interest on that app.
Lillian noticed your sudden shift in demeanor and she smiled at the fact that you got excited at finally finding someone you're interested in.
She handed your phone back to you and you started reading the little info he put on his profile but it wasn't much, it was rather vague but Lillian told you this was common so you should've guessed you'd come across someone like that.
The only things you could put together through context clues and implications was that he's looking for some form of friends with benefits whether it was more benefits than friends or vice versa, and he had a car and lived in the next neighborhood over so you don't have to worry about your mom driving you to see him or anything like that.
You thought about the possibilities of outcomes you could get from texting him and it made you excited since you could tell he was just one of those guys that would be down to have fun and actually hang out instead of rushing things like other guys you talked to on here.
You quickly flipped through the pictures on his profile and looked at his name before texting him.
Alexis
You repeated his name in your head before you tapped on the text box and you paused for a second, you couldn't think of anything good you could say to him.
"Dude, what do I say to him? He's fine, he has a car so I don't gotta worry about transportation with him,he lives in the next neighborhood over he's looking for any form of friends with benefits, and his ass plays Minecraft. He's like, literally perfect."
You asked Lillian with excitement and nervousness mixed in your voice, you didn't know how he'd reply to you or even if he would, but you still kept your hopes up, just not too high in case he showed no interest in you.
"Hmm... do you want me to type something out and give it back to you so you can edit it?"
Lillian blurted out and shrugged her shoulders, you knew she was bold with how she approached men, so you agreed.
"Yeah, just under the condition that it's not something crazy, okay?"
You laughed out as you thought of the possibilities she was gonna pop out with, you never knew what to expect with her, in a good way y'know?
You handed your phone over to her as she smiled at you and got to typing, that lasted for a few seconds before she handed your phone back to you with a tiny smirk on her face.
"Take me out for a late night drive and lemme get to know u??"
Honestly, you liked it. it wasn't that bad, it didn't sound desperate and it didn't sound like you wanted to rush into having sex with him.
You told Lillian you liked it and sent it to him and closed your phone right after since you were nervous and didn't want to see if he replied or didn't just yet.
You and Lillian continued eating until you two were either full or done and cleaned up after yourselves so you could get ready to head out and back home
You two started up small talk while you called and waited for your mom to get here all the way until you dropped her off back at her place just to do the exact same with your mom on the ride home.
When you got home you put your things in your room and you put it all away so you didn't have to worry about it later.
You finally got the chance to check your phone and you saw texts from Lillian sending you reels, the guys you talked to last night texting you various things and notifications from purp.
You took a deep breath in and out before you tapped on the app to see if Alexis texted you back.
The app loaded in.
you got a message from Alexis.
You sighed in relief, excitement immediately rushing in and replacing that anxious feeling you had just a few seconds ago as you read the message preview
Alexis
"Hell yeah I'm down, what part of town r u in ?"
You snagged a quick screenshot of the message so you could send it to her later and you quickly replied to him.
Y/n
"Bett I'm in _____, what part are you in?"
His online status was recent, so you knew he was probably going to text back soon.
Alexis
"no way, that's like right next to my neighborhood that's crazyy"
Alexis
"wanna see each other this week or weekend? lmk cus I'm free I don't got shit planned for this week lolol"
How fucking lucky were you?
You jumped up in excitement and celebrated quietly since your walls were paper thin and you didn't want anyone checking up on you just yet.
You laid down on your bed with your stomach down and you feet in the air swinging away.
You started trying back a reply almost instantly.
Y/n
"Yess, ofc I'm down!! This weekend is perfect since I don't have anything planned either loll"
Y/n
"Do you have a specific time in mind?"
You sent the texts and you're about to put the phone down until your phone rings so you flip it over and see that it's Alexis that replied to you again.
You liked that he's a quick replier, you just hoped that it didn't bite you in the ass later on.
Alexis
"maybee why do u have 2 b home at a certain time ??"
Y/n
"No not really loll just don't keep me out past 3 am and were goodd"
Alexis
"okay okay I got u how does 8pm this Saturday sound ?"
Y/n
"That sounds perfect!! do you have instagram? I don't really use this app lolol"
Alexis
"yea ofcc my user is quackity"
You got a rush of adrenaline and excitement when you read his last text, you knew it was easy to weasel your way into a guy's life by little "unexpected" interactions, complimenting them on little things they think nobody notices, and letting your eyes hang around their lips for a few seconds too long during conversation but you never knew how easy it was online.
You quickly copied his text with his username in it and pasted it into your search bar on Instagram and you found his account almost immediately after you got rid of the extra text.
Before you followed him you decided to look at his account and inspect it.
He had no posts or any posts he was tagged in so you tapped on his highlights.
Alexis had two highlights, one of him self and another one of random pictures like the sky, then a picture of some random trail he was on, pictures from trips he took, stuff like that.
You tapped on the highlight he had of himself first and you saw pictures of him flexing and showing his gym progress, him posing in insanely scenic places that you could only assume that are from trips he took, him with his friends, and of course solo pictures.
You skimmed through the highlight of random pictures since you didn't think it would add anything to the stuff you thought you needed to know about him.
After you exited his highlight you quickly followed him since you spent a good minute observing him, the way he took pictures, stuff like that.
You always payed attention to stuff like that since you believed it gave you an insight on the type of personalities people have, and you were right more than half of the time.
You opened purp and sent him a message saying that you followed him and he likes it almost instantly, followed with a notifications saying that Alexis followed you back.
After that you and alexis chatted for a while, planning out what you two were gonna do since you guys agreed on staying away from places that have a closing time.
It was the weekend, yeah, but you both wanted a place you guys could converse without worrying about when you guys had to leave and stuff like that.
After you two decided that a park was a good place to go, you noticed that you were getting insanely tired and decided to break the news to Alexis.
He joked around and begged you not to go, to stay up for a few more hours just to talk to him.
You felt butterflies flutter their wings in your stomach when you initially read his first text, teasing you and telling you that he's not going to sleep until the next time you talk to him.
You re-read his message before moving your fingers to type something back, you made fun of him for being so desperate, saying that he's just going to have to stay up until Saturday for being so eager to talk to you when you two are talking right now.
You could tell he was starting to give up with the way you noticed his replies having extra letters at the end of his sentences, telling you that he "doesn't care" about what you have to say and blurting out "hey didn't you say you ___?" whenever you got on him about wanting you to stay up with him.
You eventually had to actually say goodnight and go to bed since you had school the next day.
Part of you wished you didn't have school the next day but even if that was the case, you knew you wouldn't have been able to stay up as late as he's trying to.
