Huai Yun; Space Surrogate

Summary:

A flirty pink rabbit named Huai Yun makes her way across the stars carrying babies for those who can't have them, getting distracted along the way with the sheer beauty of space. But she's good at what she does so she always makes it in time to deliver the child to their loving parents, most of the time, she cuts it a little close.

Notes:

Remember how I had that burning Zhao obsession a while back? Well this is what happens when one obsession crashes into another, in this case being Neon Odyssey

So now I've spun off that alter ego I made for Zhao into her own little space bun, got her actually pregnant, then threw her into shenanigans.

Neon Odyssey wears a lot of its references proudly so I was happy to continue to do so and bring in a couple more things, idk the full extent to which the Avantris crew reference other things in the setting since most of my exposure thus far has been Stardust Rhapsody: Anthem with a sprinkling of Uproot-a-rama and Once Upon a Starlight, have yet to touch the other two(three?) games they're running in the setting

Huai MIGHT be a Bitling but I still need to dig deeper into what those are before I fully commit to her as such

Work Text:

In a dimly lit room a maroon blanket shifts and bulges as a life form squirms under it, next to the bed a device buzzes and beeps as its alarm goes off. Eventually a pink paw reaches out from under the blanket and smacks at the blue brick of a device, then again, and again, then it knocks it off the night stand. The creature under the blanket groans. “I don’t wannaaaaa.” It whines, the device continuing to scream from the floor. Eventually a pink furry figure rolls out from the blanket and grabs the device, flips it open and silences its incessant cries. She stares bleary eyed for a moment at the screen on the inside, watching a feed scrolling across it before shutting it and plunging the room back into the dim light from the window.

The pink figure waddles its way to the window, slowly her body being illuminated by the glow of the aether clouds just outside. She scratches at one of her long ears and her round belly as she watches streaks of pink and purple gently drift by. With a large yawn she shakes off the last bits of sleep and sets off to get dressed. Tossing her communicator onto the bed and then grabbing the long cyan dress off the night stand, throwing it on over her head and fluffing out her long hair. She looks at her dresser for a moment, considering putting on under wear but then looks at her grown pregnant belly. “Eh, I won’t be at port for another few days.” She shrugs, grabs her communicator and heads off to the next room.

In the cockpit of her personnel ship she flips on a few lights before plopping in one of only three seats, she presses at a few buttons and pulls a lever, the ship roaring to life. She puts her communicator in a slot on the arm rest and flips it open, pressing a button before clearing her throat. “This is Huai Yun, daily report for the IGMW. I am 25 days into my pregnancy with an Eevelti.” She starts, pressing at a couple more buttons as she runs through her checks. “My sleep the night before has been sound, the heart burn from the other night has settled, making a personal note not to eat specter peppers again even if the kid insists on it. The child has been relatively active this morning, mostly shifting but no hard ki-icks~!” Huai winced and rubbed the side of her belly. “With the occasional strong kick.” She corrects.

Huai pushes the lever at her side forward and her ship rumbles as it takes off, leaving the aether cloud it had been hiding in. “As for my general mood.” She looks down at her belly, smiling softly and gently rubbing it. “It’s been good, I’ve quite enjoyed this assignment, even if this kid has given me the wildest cravings thus far.” With a content sigh she looks to the vast neon space before her. “I’ll be at the next port in two days time where I hope to turn in my reports and to safely deliver my cargo. I know I’m cutting it close with the 30 day gestation period but I can’t help it if I get struck with a little wanderlust every now and then. I mean, have you pencil pushers even looked out into space recently? With your own eyes? It’s wonderful.” She sighed. She angled the top of the communicator some. “I will now add a progress picture to the report.” She pressed a button on the device before hopping out of the chair and waddling up to the window of the cockpit. She turned to the side and stepped around a bit, looking at the camera as it waited for the command. She looked outside and smiled. “Aaand, snap!” She called out, her communicator beeped and then clicked as it took the picture.

She took a moment to enjoy the glow before waddling back to her seat and picking up the communicator to check the photo. There she saw herself, a short pink bunny, her hair down to her knees in a falling gradient of light pink to dark maroon, the faint glow of icy blue eyes reflected on the window, her paws gently resting on the fertile bump of her belly covered in a bright cyan dress, it’s only decoration being a yellow to pink gradient sun on the front. She stood well off center in the picture, near the edge, the majority of the picture being the glow of space, purple and green aether clouds with distant stars glimmering brightly, her body practically blending into the radiant blue background of space thanks to her dress. It was a horrible progress picture but it was beautiful to her. “This concludes my report for the day. It should be smooth flying from here on out.” She closed her communicator and sighed, relaxing back in her chair. “Kid, I’m gonna miss ya.” She whispers to her belly, rubbing it slowly. “You’ve been a fun little flight partner, just promise me you won’t tell your parents about what we get up to.” She laughed. A couple buttons pressed to make sure the auto pilot was engaged and heading in the right direction before getting out of her seat to go make breakfast. She had a long boring flight ahead of her.

[Day 29 of Pregnancy]

Huai was crouched low to the ground, or at least as low as she could get in her current condition. Her suit gripped close to her body, keeping her belly from touching the ground, a thick helmet over her head and a thin visor showing just her eyes. Slowly she moved forward, carefully stepping through the grass, arms lifting slowly as she held a boxy camera. ‘Just a little closer’ she thought, watching a creature just ahead of her sipping gently from a pool of water. ‘I just need, one good shot.’ She lifted the camera slowly, the display showing what the lens saw. A box appeared around the creature, a circle at its center starting to fill as the device scanned it. Her finger hovered over the button, ready to snap a picture.

Then a loud beeping rang out, breaking the peace, starling the creature and sending it running away. “FUCK!” Huai shouted, ensuring that it wouldn’t be coming back. She fell back onto her ass with a grunt, letting her weight rest after a grueling ten minute crawl. She glared at the ringing communicator on her wrist only to have the rage drain away as she read the ID.

IGMW Contact: Yoichi Station

“Fuck.” was all she could whisper before tapping the device. An icon lit up on the hud of her visor. “Hello, you’ve reached Huai Yun, space surrogate.” She answered professionally.

“Miss Yun, where are you?” The agent asked, cutting right to the core of the conversation.

“I’m just a couple hours out from the station.” Huai lied, a gloved hand rubbing her belly in quiet nervous circles. “I had a bit of sensor trouble passing by this one system and it got me a little spooked is all.”

There was silence for a moment before she heard a slow, deep breath. “You are aware your discoveries are public record, yes?” The agent asked.

Huai shot a glance at her discovery camera, the same discovery camera she had spent the last day scanning and registering creatures of the ‘slightly’ off route system she was currently in. “I, am aware.” Huai answered. “Just wasn’t aware the signal out here was good enough for quick uploads.” The bun grunted as she pushed herself off the ground. With the jig up and her little field day ruined she tapped on her communicator to call in her ship.

“Miss Yun, you really shouldn’t be making such detours in your condition, the parents expected you a day ago and are worried.” The agent chastised.

“Then show them I’m still active.” Huai shrugged off the criticism. “Plus I’m not due for another few days, I’m fine if I, oof, get a little active.” She winced and patted her belly, the baby not really liking being squished so much.

“You are quite literally due in less than a day.” The agent corrected. “Being this active so close to your due date could in fact put you into labor even sooner.”

Huai nodded along and waited for the hatch on her ship to open. “I know, that’s why I made sure only to scan herbivores. The smaller kind without the horns, so much less likely to charge.” She explained, hopping onto the ramp and climbing in. “I’m a professional, I know how to handle myself. Plus if I did go into labor while planet side it wouldn’t be the first ti-” She clammed up before she walked into trouble. There was an incredulous hum from the other side of the line. “E-excuse me a moment, gotta switch you over.” She hit a button on her communicator and detached it from her arm. She set it on a table before grabbing her helmet and giving it a twist, breaking the seal with a hiss and pulling it off. Her long hair was held in a tight bun which she was eager to undo and let flow free.

She reached over to the communicator and gave it a tap. “Alright, you’re on speaker.” She said,

Another sigh came. “Miss Yun, I am aware of how free spirited you can be, it’s all over your file, but please, do remember you’re not the only one in that suit.” The agent said.

“I know I know.” Huai said, zipping the front of her suit down and letting free her fertile form, her belly practically forcing the zipper the rest of the way down. “Oof, did you get bigger?” She chuckled.

“What was that?” The agent asked.

“Oh uh, just commenting on how sweaty I got. Scans showed the planet to be pretty hospitable so I turned the AC down to save power, we’re fine though.” She waddled over to a panel on the wall, tapping it a couple times. There was a brief rumble as her ship's engines kicked in and the auto pilot took over. “I’m on my way now so if there’s no other issues I’d like to go take a shower.” Huai slid an icon on the panel to activate mirror mode, wanting to give herself a quick check.

“As long as you come straight to the station then no, there's no other issues.” The agent answered.

“Awesome.” Huai smiled, she brushed the fur on her belly with her hands, it was a little damp and matted from a day in the suit but her belly didn’t look any bigger. It definitely looked angry though, she couldn’t help but giggle as she watched and felt the young pup in her kick and squirm at their new freedom. “I should be there in time for a dinner meeting with the parents, practically passed the station to get here.”

“I’m sorry you what?”

“Oh shit going through an asteroid field, I’ll call you back!” She quickly cut the line and sighed. “You make me too chatty.” She said, giving her belly an accusatory poke. The little Eevelti gave her an angry kick in response. “Yeah fair, I did keep you cooped up in that suit all day. Alright kid you win, you can pick the snack.” She slid the icon again to turn the mirror off before waddling off to the kitchen.

[Day 30 of Pregnancy]

Huai laid back in the hospital bed, staring at a poster on the wall depicting space. It was some health warning about aether exposure but all she really cared about was the background. She imagined herself out there, in her suit just drifting around her ship, tethered only by its gravity and her life line. “Miss Yun.” The doctor spoke up, snapping her from her fantasy.

“Huh? Yeah?” She asked, looking at the doctor then her belly. Her pink orb was on full display, the doctor moving a sonogram wand across it as they checked on the child within. Before the doctor could get the question out she looked over at the monitor to see. With a smile her tail started to wiggle happily, after a few years of carrying kids for other people she could quickly pick out the shapes of life on the screen. The Eevetli in her was large, active, and ready to get out. She had been feeling it for the last day or so, the head pressing on her pelvis and the kicks moving up her ribs as the baby flipped. The doctor was talking but she wasn’t listening, she was too lost in her mind again. When the doctor was done she nodded. “Thanks doc, I’ll be sure to.” She answered, not paying attention to what she was agreeing to.

The doctor picked up on this. “Miss Yun, I asked if you needed anything.” The doctor restated.

“Oh!” Huai snapped back to reality finally. “Oh uh, just a print out and such, y’know, the usual paper work for the IGMW.” She explained. The doctor nodded and got to work on it, pressing a button on the monitor, the printer humming to life. As they waited for it to print they got Huai’s belly cleaned off, letting her pull her shirt back down to cover half her belly. While she wouldn’t say it outright she loved showing off her motherly form, getting maternity clothes a size too small, forgetting to put in the lactation pads for her bras, letting her belly be exposed, sometimes she’d even just bump people with her bump just for the attention. She felt her best at her fullest.

With a grunt and a hup, Huai got off the bed, tugging her pants up to cover the lower half of her belly, leaving a pink streak to split the blue of her clothes. “Anything else I need to know doc?” She asked, looking up at the tall human handling paper work.

“Just take it easy for the next day or so. You’re ready to deliver at any moment. I’d recommend getting a room in the station just to cut down on how far you have to go.” He explained, getting things in order for her.

“Of course of course, I’d hate to have to waddle all the way from the hanger just to pop the kid out in the hallway.” She giggled and blushed a little, it’d be a lie to say that idea didn’t excite her a little. “Though I’ll be honest doc, I don’t know if that’d help.” She smacked her hip. “These hips were made for birthin, I’d probably still get the kid out before you even got me in the delivery room.” She laughed.

“Oh I’m aware, it’s happened uhh.” He flipped a few pages. “Twice according to your file.”

“Damn right it has.” Huai stated proudly.

“Well hopefully this time it won’t, this child is rather large compared to the others you’ve had so far.” The doctor handed her the paper work she’d need to turn in. “Have a good day miss Yun.” He smiled, leading her out of the exam room.

Huai returned the smile and happily waddled her way down the hall, stopping for a moment to adjust herself and keep going. “Doc wasn’t lying, you're a heavy kid.” She wheezed, she was too used to the luxury of reduced gravity on her ship, the standard gravity of the station made her feel like she was carrying a bowling ball in her belly. Which was great at first but after a day of waddling from hanger to office to food court to every corner of the station her poor feet pads were sore and ready for a break. “Just one more stop, then I’m going out.” She grunted, hefting up her belly and continuing through the station.

At the IGMW office she sat in a chair, letting her feet hang free. The advantage of being such a small bun in a galaxy made for such large creatures meant most any chair could be a lounger, she could rest her whole weight on these and still have room to play with. In her current state she couldn’t really close her legs anymore, her belly having pushed her lap apart and rested on the seat. If she wiggled some she could rub the bottom with the scratchy fabric of the waiting room chair. In fact she was starting to wiggle a little when her name was called, stopping her from getting carried away. ‘Geeze, I’m getting really close’ she thought, she had a growing need that had been getting stronger since she landed.

With a push and a grunt Huai was out of the chair and waddling into the office of her IGMW agent for this station. When she got in her ears went limp, her face flushing brightly as she saw the tall Hare of a man sitting on the other side of the desk. “Ah, Miss Yun, it’s good to finally see you.” He said, only glancing at her as he shuffled through paper work.

“Y-yeah, good to put a face to the judgy voice.” She joked. She waddled over to a chair and hopped up, setting the paperwork on the desk in front of her. “Though if I’d known this is who the voice was coming from, I might not have felt like dismissing you so quickly~” She cooed.

The agent stopped a moment to look up at her, an eyebrow raised. “That’s very flattering but let's be professional, please.” He said.

“Aww, can’t get mad at me for being a little flirty, I’m ready to pop, I’m flooded with hormones and there’s a tall handsome guy in front of needy little me~” Huai grinned, leaning forward a bit to try and accentuate her chest for him.

In return he stared blankly, she could see him weighing his options and that’s when she knew she had him. She did a little bounce to scoot forward. “You missed a line.” He said, sliding a paper forward.

Huai looked down and saw a paper before her, a line she was supposed to sign left blank. It was then she realized even while they stared at each other he had been doing work. “Oh, uh, so I did.” The mood was derailed as she grabbed a pen to sign the paper work. She glanced back up and he was turned away, filing something into a cabinet. She squirmed a bit in her chair, pushing the paper back after having finished her signature. With the distraction done she tried to get things back on track for her. “Y’know, you could probably pick me up~” She smiled

“I probably could.” He answered, checking the paper and nodding. “Yeah I could.” He stated more confidently.

“Oooh such confidence now? You wanna try it~?” She asked, offering herself to him.

“No” He shot down.

“Oh I see, it was false bravado then huh?” Huai hopped out of the chair, letting her belly hang low. “I can’t blame you really, just look at this thing, I gotta turn the gravity down on my ship just to walk.”

“Oh no I could do it.” He said, filing things away and typing on the computer. “I just won’t.”

“Cause you can’t, I know, not a lot of guys can carry this much weight.” She did an exaggerated waddle.

“I know what you’re doing.” He stated plainly. “Do you think you’re the first horny surrogate I’ve dealt with this week?” Huai stopped, gave him another look over and sighed.

He had a point, a big tall hare like him probably had girls of all races clambering over themselves to get his attention. “Well, will you rub my belly at least? Being this hot and bothered got the kid kicking up a storm.” She whined.

“I’m not falling for that either.”

“Phooey.” Huai huffed and waddled back to the chair, hopping up and leaning back. She tugged her shirt up some to try and tempt him quietly as he finished up the paper work.

After a few minutes of silence he spoke again. “How did dinner go last night?” He asked.

“It went great, the parents were ecstatic to see me.” Huai started. “They really went the extra mile too, gave me a tour of the station, even showed me the baby’s room. Though I think the cradle they got might be a bit too small.” Huai laughed and pat the sides of her large belly, wincing as its current tenant kicked at her. “Oof, geeze, grumpy much?” She grumbled. The agent nodded along as Huai talked. “Anyway they let me stay there for the night which was really sweet of them. The runt here got some good bonding time with them too, hell my belly was kinda sore by the time they settled down.” She leaned a bit, offering her squirming belly to the agent again.

“That’s good, I’m sure the parents would have liked a little more time but they’ll have plenty to bond over soon enough.” The agent said, he let out a hum and clicked a few keys, the printer humming to life. “Alright, we’ve got all the paper work done and dusted.” He nodded, pushing away from the desk to roll over to the printer. “All that’s needed now is to wait and relax.” He grabbed the paper and rolled back over, handing Huai a sheet. “Here’s the stuff you need for your records.”

Huai took the sheet and looked it over. All the info was there, date of implantation, date of arrival, various details on the kid, and her pay out for the job and allotted recovery time. With a nod, she smiled and reached a hand out. “A pleasure working with you~” She cooed. When the Agent took her hand she was quick to snatch him by the wrist and pull him forward, putting his hand on her belly and grinning. “Gotcha~” She giggled.

They held still for a moment as he stared at her, not as surprised as she had hoped. She looked down at her suddenly inactive belly. “Come’on kid you were supposed to seal the deal!” She complained.

The agent gently took his hand back from her and chuckled. “Looks like your partner in crime has left you high and dry.” He smiled.

“C-come on! Please at least tell me this does something for ya? There’s no way a guy in your position doesn’t have a pregnancy kink!” Huai whined.

With a slow breath the agent nodded. “Yes, you are very attractive.” He said, putting together her need for attention. He could hear the faint thumping of her tail as it wagged against the chair. “But if I acted on the advances of every woman who came in here wanting me to, ‘burst their bubble’” He gestured towards her belly. “I’d be tapped dry in a month and out of a job in a week. I must keep it professional.”

“Aww, so you don’t fuck any of the surrogates?” Huai whined, lustful dreams dashed across the floor.

“I never said that.” He corrected. “I just don’t sleep with the ones that I work with.”

Huai let out a sigh. “Fine, no I understand.” She groaned, then smiled a long mischievous smile. “Next time though, I’ll make a detour just for you~” She winked at him before hopping from the chair. He opened his mouth to say something but she was already waddling out the door, exaggerating the swing of her hip just before she disappeared around the door frame. After getting out of the reception area she stopped and leaned on a bench. “Fuck me, kid, you gotta stop growing.” She moaned, holding her heavy belly. “I felt like I was swinging a wrecking ball back there, nearly took out the plants on my way out.” She rubbed her belly slowly, it wasn’t any bigger than before but was getting lower, the waistband of her pants getting pushed down.

After a couple deep breaths Huai stood and continued on her way, this time with a less exaggerated waddle so she wouldn’t cause any property damage. She needed a break from all this gravity.

In search of this break from Huai made her way to the hanger, one of the few places on a station where the artificial gravity was lower. But it wasn’t low enough. She climbed onto her ship and got it started, she put in a departure request and left the station. “Only a quick nap, just a nice zero G nap.” She told the very confused Flight Control operator. Once out into space she flew a safe distance from the station, keeping it in view but not close enough to cause interference. After one more check she smiled, confident she’d be ok for a bit. A button press here and a switch flip there and her ship hummed down one of its more taxing systems, the gravity.

Slowly Huai lifted up from her chair as gravity faded, a long happy sigh passing her lips as her weight drifted away. She gave the chair a gentle push and grinned. “Fuck I needed this~” She cooed, swinging an arm to ger her to turn. With a few practiced moves she got positioned to bounce off the ceiling, gently kicking off it to give her speed and turning herself around to land into the next bounce. Giggling like a child in a bounce house she made her way around the ship and to her bedroom, grabbing the handle as she passed the door and grunting as her momentum still pulled her along. “Whoa, hey slow down there buddy.” She said, gripping her belly with her other paw. “We’re goin for a nap, not a snack.” She grunted and pulled herself back, pressing the panel to open the door. She winced as her free falling cargo kicked in protest. “We can eat after, ow, fuck, look you get to float in my belly all day, I want a chance to float!” She protested the protesting.

She pulled into her room and drifted towards her bed, grabbing the floating sheets and whipping them around to wrap up. “Look, you’ll like it when I get all cocooned up, trust me. A zero G nap is great.” She grabbed at the pillows and pulled them in. After a couple minutes she got herself all wrapped in sheets and blankets and pillows, gently drifting through her room as she did slow movements to try and stop her spin. Once settled in the air like a drifting ball of fabric she smiled. “See, now we’re all nice and cozy.” She cooed, her belly starting to cramp from all the kicking. “So PLEASE, calm down.” She looked down at the barely visible bump. When she felt the kicking settle she smiled. “There, all warm.” She smiled, squirming a bit to make a little space in the sheets for her to curl up into. She started to gently hum a lullaby to her sore belly as she started to drift off.

Her sleep was only mildly disturbed, every couple minutes she’d drift into a wall and slowly bounce off it but that’s what the pillows were for. Her sleep was harshly interrupted by a sharp pain in her side. “Kid, please.” She mumbled, rubbing the spot, only to feel the pain stab the whole of her belly. “K-kid you better not b-be, be learning magic in there!” She accused, pushing around some to make room for her to see her belly. It was only after a third, deep pain that she realised what the kid was doing. “No, n-no you fucking don’t!” She kicked the sheets away, scrambling for a wall to push off of. As she reached the door she looked back to her horror as she saw a trail of water droplets following her path, a hard squeezing pain only to confirm it.

She was in labor.

As the small ship tore through the sky towards Yoichi station Huai sat in her chair, death grip on her communicator as it ringed. “Answeransweranswer.” She panted, holding onto her tight belly as it squeezed again, starting a mental count. Finally there was a click. “H-hey it’s me!” She sputtered out, putting on some form of composure. Before the person on the other side could respond she continued. “I-it’s time, get your wife and meet me at the hoooospi~!” She cried out loudly, feeling a shift and push, a deep push. “H-hanger! Meet me at the hanger! It’s time!” She hung up and slammed the communicator into its slot, holding her belly with both paws as it squeezed hard. “F-fuck kid s-slow down you’re coming t-to fast!” She cried.

Outside the station Huai clung to the front window of her ship, pounding on it with one paw as she watched a freighter slowly, methodically pull into the station. “Hurry uuuuup!” She cried out, moaning and holding her belly with her other paw. Her ship drifted gently from side to side as it waited its turn in the automated docking sequence. What couldn’t wait however was an eager young Eevetli, its bright yellow hair peaking from between Huai’s lips as it crowned. A long moan and a hard squeeze pushed the child even further out. “N-not you y-you dumb ass!” She screamed, mostly at herself at this point.

Once her ship finally landed the hanger door opened and a small group rushed onto her ship, first a couple of doctors and then the Eevetli parents she had called. They found Huai in the cock pit of the ship, leaning on the window and panting, a bright yellow baby bundled up in her shirt and gently nursing. “Congratulations~!” Huai cheered weakly. “It’s a giiirl~!”
