Chapter Text
"I want power."
Yoongi laughed at the human's statement, flicking his wrist absentmindedly. The human was flung to the wall, the crunching bones sending satisfaction through Yoongi's body. He waited a few moments, raising his eyebrows, when the human, although completely injured, still made his way towards Yoongi.
"What's your name?" Yoongi asked.
The human looked at him with hatred, clutching his side before stuttering, "M-Micah J-Jung."
Yoongi nodded in recognition, remaining quiet for a few moments. "You're the son of one of the leaders conspiring against my brothers' and our rule. Why should we give you power?"
"I want my family to be the rulers of Korea," Micah answered confidently. "I want the Gwans to cease existence. Wipe them off the face of the Earth. Replace my lineage— the Jung lineage with them."
Yoongi hummed at the statement, glancing at his brother sitting to his left and right. Namjoon looked at Yoongi with a bored expression, while Jimin looked amused, leaning towards Micah with intrigue. Jimin's fingers lightly tapped his cheeks, eyes locking into Micah's.
"What would be in it for us, Jung?" Jimin asked, cocking his head to the side innocently. Namjoon rolled his eyes at Jimin's statement, gazing at the human with a look of discord. This wasn't the first time a human had barged in, despite being at war with them, to try to gain power. All those who passed through the doors never made it out alive. If there was one thing Namjoon despised, it was disloyalty, a habit that humans were fond of. He wasn't expecting this human to be an exception.
"Let me guess, we'll have your undying service and loyalty," Namjoon spoke dryly, scoffing at the end. "We've been warring against each other for thirty years now. You're not the first human to waltz into the door praising our names. Do you know what happens to all of them? They die."
"Aw, Namjoon, don't be like that." Jimin pouted, casting a sullen look at his brother. "It's been a while since a human has come to visit us. I want to at least have my fun with him."
"Namjoon's got a point, Jung," Yoongi chuckled, intertwining his fingers together. "What can you give us that no other human has already offered us?"
Micah swallowed the lump in his throat, squaring his injured shoulders. He kneeled to the ground, bowing his head. "Do what you want with me. Mark me, hurt me, chain me. I am yours."
Yoongi's eyebrow raised, lips parting in surprise at the declaration. Now, this was a first. No human had ever bowed down to them, much less given their will up. Jimin's eyes sparkled at the sight, his lips quirking into a mischievous smirk.
"A human bowing down to us." Namjoon approved, feeling the humility behind the human's bow. "Now that is something we can get behind."
They stood up from their thrones, sauntering towards the still kneeling Micah. Jimin crouched first, his porcelain hands touching Micah's warm, tender skin. He carefully lifted Micah's head, processing the human's emotions.
"Micah Jung, you have a lot of ambition and greed in you." Jimin said, licking his lips as he inhaled Micah's scent."You desire to be in charge. Hm. You've betrayed your people before. Made a lot of decisions in your time to save yourself. Selfish. Arrogant."
Jimin let out a cackle, pushing Micah to the ground. He nodded approvingly at Namjoon and Yoongi. "I like him. I think he'll be good."
"He's not even fighting back." Namjoon laughed, joining Jimin's parade. Yoongi nodded, taking it as a good sign from both of them. Yoongi willed Jung to get up, Jung's cheek connecting with Yoongi's hands. Yoongi's eyes fluttered closed as he peered into Jung's past and present before gazing into the future.
After a few moments, his eyes burst open, a grin appearing on Yoongi's face."He's useful. I want him. Yes, you'll do quite nicely. Jimin, Namjoon. Fix him."
With a nod, Jimin and Namjoon intertwined their fingers together, placing their free hands on Micah. It only took a second for them to heal Micah, Namjoon already wiping his hand on his clothes. They returned to Yoongi's side.
"I will do what you ask." Yoongi nodded."The Gwans will cease to exist. History will be rewritten. When you return to your home, you will be referred to as a King."
"He wants a long life," Jimin commented, gaze transfixed on Micah. Yoongi scoffed, rolling his eyes at the statement.
"Of course he does. What King doesn't want to live a long life?" Yoongi deadpanned, sighing loudly."I'll give it to him. Of course, the rest of civilization will believe that it's a new king every time. His appearance will change over time. When he encounters the thing he loves the most, he'll begin to age. Does that sound fair, Micah Jung?"
"There's nothing more I love in this world than power." Micah barked, his expression glowering. Yoongi shrugged, knowing that, for now, that would be the case. It would be a long time before Micah would have the thing he loves the most.
"The catch, though, Micah, is I'll be taking the thing you love the most." Yoongi laughed. "The thing you love the most belongs to me. When the time comes, I'll appear by your side, reminding you of the day you gave yourself up to us. If it's true that nothing comes above your thirst for power, giving the thing you love won't be too hard."
Micah Jung nodded, licking his lips. "I accept your terms."
Yoongi dismissed him, Jimin and Namjoon turning to him curiously as Micah strolled out of the room, unable to stop the grin on his face. Once Micah had gone out of sight, Namjoon questioned Yoongi.
"What did you see?"
Yoongi's smile turned sinister, his eyes glowing purple as he pulled on the tendrils that bound the world, the memories and scenes swirling around him as he searched for the one sliver that belonged to the Gwans, royalty of Korea. His eyes glowed brighter as he clung to it, expression turning serious as he concentrated on getting rid of the line. It was easier said than done. Yoongi had to unravel centuries of ruling to wipe out the existence of the Gwans completely.
"We're going hunting after this," Yoongi remarked, ignoring Namjoon's remark as his gaze concentrated on the task at hand. "This is draining much more energy than I anticipated. All this history, dreams, and aspirations are gone because of one human's selfishness and greed."
"That's what makes humans, humans." Namjoon jeered, Jimin's windchime laugh accompanying his statement.
Yoongi finished dissolving the Gwan line, watching the last face disappear. He created a new strand, using the knowledge he had acquired from Micah to make the new hierarchy. When he was done, his eyes dissolved back into their obsidian, his energy completely depleted. Namjoon and Jimin caught him as he stumbled, setting him upright.
"Nearest humans?" Yoongi questioned. Namjoon's eyes fluttered closed before opening, red replacing the brown his irises had.
"I spy a group of humans twenty miles northeast." Namjoon laughed, running his tongue down his bottom lip. Yoongi nodded approvingly, his throat itching to taste the sweetness of human blood.
"Time to feast."
257 Years Later
"You have such a beautiful baby boy, King Micah."
Micah's expression became fearful as he recognized the voice speaking to him. He turned to see Yoongi, his pale complexion gaining a soft glow in the moonlight, holding the five-month-old in his arms. Terror plagued Micah's body as Yoongi softly cooed at him, smirking at the way Micah's legs would not stop shaking. He cocked his head to the side innocently.
"Why, Micah Jung, did you forget that your precious boy is mine?" Yoongi exposed the boy's neck, Micah's eyes locking onto the insignia proudly standing against his child's skin. His child was sleeping soundly in Yoongi's arms, Yoongi humming a lullaby.
"You can't take him!" Micah snapped with as much force as he could. Yoongi seemed unfazed, proudly showcasing his fangs to Micah, who jumped back in fear. Yoongi chuckled at the action, setting the child down in his crib.
"To hell, I can't." Yoongi laughed, eyeing Micah with a cocky look. "This little boy, your first child, is the one thing you love the most, far more than all the glory and fame I gave you. The money, gifts, and even the crown you wear can't surpass the love you have for this child."
Micah's eyes widened at Yoongi's statement, taking a step towards him. Yoongi shook his head, tsking at Micah's approaching steps. He forced Micah to stay in his spot, gazing.
"I'm not taking him yet. It wouldn't be fun for me to take care of him." Yoongi said, fingers trailing the boy's cheek. "Once he's eighteen, he's mine. Have fun with him. Take good care of him, too. I would hate to have to get rid of his family if they've mistreated him."
"L-look, you can have everything you gave me back," Micah said quickly, feeling desperation well inside him. "Just don't take him. Please."
Yoongi raised an eyebrow. "Oh? But if I recall correctly, you were the one stomping into my home. You were the one kneeling. You were the one who mercilessly had me get rid of the Gwan line. You gave up your child so that you could get a taste of power, the taste of being King. Why do you have a sudden change of heart now?"
The boy cooed softly, his brown eyes staring at Yoongi's. Yoongi smiled warmly at him and offered his hand to the boy. His small hands pulled at Yoongi's fingers, a loud giggle coming from the boy's mouth.
"There's nothing you can do about it." Yoongi hummed, turning back to Micah. "It couldn't be helped, Micah. My insignia claims him proudly as mine. The moment my hand pressed against your cheek, I knew he was going to be mine. Whether you had come to my family, I would have found out one way or another that your kid belongs to me."
"You can't have him. He's love-bound to someone else already." Micah interjected. "He won't love anyone else but the one he's bonded to."
"Why are you humans so idiotic?" Yoongi shook his head, clicking his tongue. "Jimin created l'amour lie for you humans. Do you genuinely think that a bond created by my brother can evade the inevitable, much less be permanent? Your son is mine. It was agreed two hundred fifty-seven years ago. You cannot go back on your word now."
"B-but-"
Yoongi's gaze hardened. "You've been loyal for so long, King Micah. It would be a shame if you were to perish by Namjoon's hand. You know how much he despises betrayal and disloyalty."
Micah swallowed, nodding his head in submission. Yoongi's easygoing expression returned, beaming at the boy in the crib, showcasing his fangs to the boy. The boy laughed at the sight, cooing loudly as he held tighter to Yoongi's hand. Micah watched the interaction, a sick feeling brewing in his stomach.
"Don't betray me, King Micah," Yoongi stated harshly. "Because the second you do, you'll be on your deathbed. The same deathbed that you should have been in centuries ago."
Yoongi let go of the boy's hand, smiling fondly once more before disappearing into the night. Micah ran to his child, who had already started crying upon noticing Yoongi's absence. He rocked his baby in his arms, calming him after a few minutes.
"I'm sorry, Hoseok," he breathed, his heart wrenching in his chest. "I won't let the bad guy take you. I promise."
