Work Header

A Graduation Unseen

Summary:

This will be a rewrite of my work "Wait...What?" I changed the format and made the plot somewhat similar. This work I will try to be more focused on. I tried to keep the same elements of the original but it has been a couple years tbh...

Basically, Bak Yerim found a collection of old things that belonged to Han Yoojin, in it was a USB drive that they never saw before and decided to snoop. This is not beta's i fear.

Chapter Text

"Holy shit,” gasped Bak Yerim, the teenager, whispering to herself. She made her way to the guild kitchen, dressed casually. She noted that everyone in their misfit family gathered in the room. Bak Yerim had a look of disbelief, her mouth slightly agape as she looked up from the black box in her arms.

“Holy shit!”

Sung Hyunjae raised his eyebrow, an amused smirk formed on his face, “My, my, now what would Yoojin-ya say if he heard such language coming from you?”

Bak Yerim rolled her eyes. She set the box in the center of the dining room table. “I found this when I was looking for Ahjussi’s jacket. It was buried in his closet…”

“And you decided to go through Hyung’s stuff? How dare you-” Han Yoohyun began, his teeth clenching as his eyes made contact with the teenage girl’s.

“Shut up- he said it was alright!” she huffed and crossed her arms, “anyway, so I noticed that it was unlocked, so I opened it, right? And you won’t believe half the stuff I found in here!”

She removed the lid of the box; it was plain and had a silver lock towards the center of it. The lock itself was engraved with the initials ‘H.Y.’ On the surface, there was a handwritten note.

Yoo Myeongwoo perked up, “Should we even be doing this? Look, I’m all for uncovering more about Yoojin, but this might be crossing a line, don’t you think?” he was fidgeting with his hands; the fear of betraying his friend’s trust was slowly consuming him, eating him alive. The pit in his stomach was filled with both curiosity and guilt.

Just then, Peace jumped on top of the table, pawing at the note itself and directing it to Yoohyun. He was inching the note closer and closer to the stoic man, his eyes narrowed onto the note.

The room was tense; the choice between discovering something new about their beloved Yoojin and allowing him to keep his secrets was almost suffocating. Sung Hyunjae then clapped his hands, snapping the attention of he others. “Well, it's already here, no? I’m sure our Yoojin-ya will understand!”

Yoohyun cleared his throat, “I suppose…” He picked up the note carefully, making an effort to ensure that there weren’t any tears or crumbles on the sheet.

Hey there JinJin!

Long time no see, huh? Sure, it’s been a while since grad, and my bad for waiting so long to reach out to you. It’s taken a while to get some shit sorted out, ya’know how it is.

Oh, do I have lore for you, my friend. Those fuckers are finally going down. You might get dragged into it, but whatever, right? You gotta help us out with the case, man, the settlement money is already crazy good. You’ll get most of it, of course, you money-grubby bastard.

But for real tho, we need your little skills to win this shit. If we don’t stop it, then the cycle will just repeat itself. I sure as hell know that I’m not letting those fuckers ruin another kid’s childhood. They won’t be fucked over like we were, man. What we went through was crazy. I think.

We need our super hot, super manipulative, super lowkey scary JinJin back in action! Time for a comeback, baby!

Kisses!!!

  -Eunhye

P.S. Here's some memorabilia from high school bitch. I got almost all your shit back from the fuckers.

There was silence.

“Well damn, I never expected that from my Darling~” Riette slurred her words, a sadistic, mischievous smile crept on her face.

“Ah! Riette, what…what are you doing here…. sister?” Noah asked timidly. He crept behind Song Taewon, who folded his arms. The two of them have gotten closer as time went by. Song Taewon’s need to keep others in check filled him with curiosity and almost paternal instincts towards Noah. He was like a lost duckling trying to find shelter from the world, and the one who offered to take him under their wing, besides Han Yooji, was the very stoic man, Song Taewon.

Riette snorted, “Relax, brother dearest~ a little birdie told me that something like this was going on and I just had to come by~” She leaned over on the table, tracing patterns on the surface as she gazed over the group.

“Uh huh..would this little bird by chance be a camera? Are you eavesdropping on us again? I’m not afraid to take you in a fight, you vile bit-” Moon Hyuna was cut off by Yoo Myeongwoo, who put a hand on her shoulder, lightly rubbing it in a soothing circular motion. “Let’s relax here, maybe refocus on the topic at hand? Ah! Not that I’m trying to take the lead or anything! Not at all! But…this is about Yoojin…and whatever he’s never told us. Gosh, maybe he hasn’t even told Han Yoohyun either…?” he stuttered out anxiously. The presence of Moon Hyuna soothed his nerves; she was a dominating presence. One that was as unstoppable as a tsunami and as confident as a lightning strike.

Han Yoohyun's lips pursed as he folded his arms, “....You’re right.” The room was dead silent, all eyes turning to the stoic younger Han. “Hyung was never fond of talking about himself. He always avoided saying anything. Even when I asked him about work, or what his job was. He never really answered me…”  he looked down, fists clenching.

Was he that unapproachable to his older brother? Did Yoohyun make his hyung want to avoid talking about his own life with himself? Why couldn’t his brother trust him with something like this? No…I don’t even know if he’s hidden anything. It could just be some odd jobs?’ Yoohyun tried to think differently, his mind acting as a battlefield. It was constantly turning, going back and forth from what was a fact and what was a worst-case scenario.

Sung Hyunjae cleared his throat, “Well then! Are we in agreement to look through this thing to its full extent?” his typical cocky smile on his face, calculating eyes hidden behind his mask of neutrality.

He turned to the younger Han brother, who stared at him, a glare reaching his face, and aimed at the blonde. “...Fine,” he said finally

Bak Yerim jumped up and clapped, “Yes! Muahahaha, I can finally learn more about Ahjussi! I hope something is embarrassing in there! It’ll be so much fun teasing him with it!” Her eyes sparkled with a mischievous glint as a wolfy grin crept on her face.

“....Uh Bak Yerim…has anyone ever told you how frightening you are?” Yoo Myeongwoo asked frighteningly.

“Hmm? Uhhh, maybe some of the kids at school? I dunno-”

Song Taewon’s gaze hardened as he made eye contact with the blue-haired teenager, who responded, “Wha-I’m not doing anything bad! Just….uh…some teasing.” She paused, “That leads to mild threats-”

“Bak Yerim!”

“Whaaat? I don't actually mean it,” she pouted with crossed arms.

Song Taewon ran a hand down his face, a headache forming, “That’s not the point-What would Mr. Han say?”

“Ahhhh, wait, don’t tell Ahjussi!!” she begged

Han Yoohyun cleared his voice, “Can we get back to the topic at hand?” he asked as he grabbed the USB drive from the box itself, “I want to know what’s on this, better yet, what Hyung hasn’t told me.”

“Hasn’t told us.” Moon Hyuna chirped up. He turned to look at her, eyes narrowed and eyebrow raised. Hyuna put her hands on her hips, glaring him down.

He sighed, “Fine. Hasn’t told us.”

“Uh, so, how does a USB thingy work? I’m…confused.” Noah inquired timidly. He rubbed his arm in a circular motion, soothing himself. Being near Riette once again, without Yujin around mainly. He felt almost protected. Noah knew that at least a few of the people in the room would protect him, if not all of them.

That’s the effect that Yujin had on people. He has the uncanny ability to bring even the most stubborn and violent people together. In a singular room, even without him.

“Uh, we cannot be that old. Could we?” Yoo Myeongwoo asked.

Moon Hyuna, “Gosh, no! They’re just uneducated.”

“Hey!” Bak Yerim and Noah shouted in unison.

The adults snickered at their frustration, “Ya ya, I’ll go get a computer. Geez, you kids need to know this stuff.” Hyuna laughed.

As she left the room, Yoohyun looked down into the box to see several objects. He reached into the box, taking out each item with care: a lighter, a pack of Marlboro, a small notebook, a pen, and an orange capsule with a white lid.

He examined the capsule, “Duloxetine, or Cymbalta. What is this?”

Myeongwoo’s eyes widened, “Oh! Oh? It’s…ah…you know.”

“You know what?” The younger Han brother questioned.

He shuffled his feet awkwardly, “...It’s a pretty strong SNRI, it’s like an antidepressant. Uh, mostly used for…if I remember correctly…chronic pain, anxiety, and major depression.”

“Chronic pain?!”

“Anxiety?!”

“Depression? Well, actually, that one makes sense. Doesn’t it, oh Young Master.” A sly smile made its way to Hyungjae’s face.

His teeth gritting, “Shut the hell up!”

“Oh, but why? Because you specifically have a great amount of knowledge about this one in particular?”

“Why you-”

“Okay,” Moon Hyuna interrupted, “I have the computer!” Her face lit up with a bright smile, clearly proud of her work. “Now, hand me that USB drive!”

Bak Yerim reached for it and handed it back to her mentor, and an affectionate head pat landed on her as her eyes sparked with joy.

The red-haired woman placed the silver computer on the counter between the two guild leaders. She connected the drive to it and brought a chair for herself in front of its now-lit screen. Her hands typed fast as she located the file and clicked on it.

Once the file was opened, they discovered several videos saved onto it. There were possibly hundreds of them. Some of the clips showed several teenagers. Sometimes in a classroom setting, some in a house or apartment, some outside. There were a lot. Most had images of smiling teens in them, laughing and enjoying the times of their lives together.

“Whoa, that’s a lot!” Bak Yerim exclaimed.

“Look at those-they look like papers or documents, ya’know!” Myeongwoo’s eyes furrowed.

Yoohyun looked back at the note, “Hmm, those must be what that ‘Eunhye’ was talking about.”

“Maybe, so what do we look at first? The documents or the videos?” Noah asked.

Bak Yerim’s eyes scanned the screen, then pointed to the one labelled. ‘SCIENCE BOOM INCIDENT’ “That one!”

“Seriously?” Noah questioned, his eyes shifting. The younger girl nodded excitedly.

Moon Hyuna smirked, “Okay then!”

She placed the USB drive into the computer and took it over to the center of the living room. Hooking it up to the TV, she clicked play.

“YOOO WHO STOLE MY SHIT?” a female voice rang out. She had black hair with pink streaks in it. She had a few piercings on her face: a nose ring, an eyebrow piercing, and a few on her ears. She had a bright smile as she faced her classmates.

A man around her age walked into the room, his calm face differed from hers, “I dunno, I think Jin was the last with it…”

The girl scoffed, “Jinnyyyyyyy…gimme my pills back! I needed those.” On the left of the screen, there was another teenage guy in the back. His eyes were piercing through the pages of homework that he was working on. He turned over to look at her and smirked,

“Whaaaaat?” he dragged his words. He laughed at the girl as he noticed the bottle in her hands. Eyes widening, “What did you lose? Percs? Xanax? What?”

“You fucking druggie,” she said, crossing her arms. “I know you’re hooked on anything like that.”

“Guilty~ now, gimme gimme,” he made a grabby motion with his hands.

The other guy in the room sighed, “Dude, chill, didn’t you smoke like half a pack last night?”

“Yep! And I finished it like an hour ago…”

“Damn! You’re like, addicted to cigarettes now, huh?”

“You know it, babes, I literally can’t function without anything anymore, Eunhye,” Jin’ replied. “Now if you don’t mind…” he gestured to the pills.

Eunhye scoffed again, “I don’t even know what these are, I don’t recognize them.”

Jin smirked, “I can tell what they are.”

“What? How?”

“Just give them to me.” Eunhyw threw the pills to Jin, who popped the lid open and spread them across the table.

The other guy in the room walked towards Jin in concern as he watched the black-haired boy take the bottle to crush the pills into powder.

Before anyone could stop him, Jin snorted the drugs off the table and sat back into his seat, “Okay, give me one minute for it to kick.”

“WHAT THE HELL, JIN!” the guy yelled in disbelief. Jin raised his eyebrow as he looked at him.

“Oh my god, relax, Hajoon, I’m fine…It’s like…like…shit, it’s hitting faster than I expected.”

Hajoon crossed his arms, “Well, you did just snort the shit…”

“Wait, so what are they? I have another bottle, I just wanna know how I sell it.” Eunhye asked, getting closer to examine him.

Jin looked dazed as he looked up to the ceiling, eyes dilated, “Bro…I don’t know, but it’s strong as fuck. Maybe ecstasy?”

“How does one get ecstasy in South Korea? Is the drug law still in place?” Hajoon questioned.

The pink-black-haired girl smirked, “My dad has connections~.”

“How does that help the situation at hand?”

Jin looked at her, “Yeah, we’ve been knowing that your dad is a criminal,”

Eunhye giggled as she twirled her hair around her finger. She looked at Jin and then the time.

“Hey…don’t you have to get your brother now?” Jin’s eyes widened as he looked at his phone.

“Fuck! I can’t have him see me like this!” Jin touched up his face, looking over himself over and over again.

Hajoon sighed, “I’ll get him for you, you have work anyways,” he paused, “A real job or the shady one?”

“Is there a difference?”

“There is a massive difference!”

“Nah,”

“The fuck you mean by ‘Nah’”

“Go get my brother! Oh my god…” Jin whined. Hajoon left the room, taking the camera with him.

“These fucking idiots…”

The room was dead quiet.

Bak Yerim shifted in her seat, “So uh…that was…”

“Informative?” Noah offered and she nodded.

Riette giggled as she looked over at Yoohyun, “I didn’t know big brother dearest was so…excentric…”

He huffed, “I didn’t know either.”

Sung Hyunjae eyed the TV as a smirk slowly made it on his face, ‘How interesting…’ he thought.

He turned to Song Taewon, “What? No words of…displeasure?”

The stoic mans eyes narrowed, “We don’t know the full picture as of yet…play the next one…”

Moon Hyuna turned back the the screen on her lap, she clicked the next one labbeled ‘MISC 1’

The screen turned on too the same 3 teenagers on a black couch. Jin was laying on Eunhye’s lap as he scrolled on his phone. Hajoon was sitting on the floor watching TV as Eunhye painted her nails hot pink.

“Hypothetically if I have blackmail on some dipshit in political power that could get ‘em castrated like publically, what would be the best approach to take advantage of them?” Jin blurted out, his face was so calm as he furiously typed on his phone.

“Jin…what the fuck” Hajoon paused the TV and stared at him.

“Obviously exploit the shit out of them. Milk them for all they’ve got babes! You gotta get your money’s worth for sure”

Jin turned back to Eunhye, “See, this is the answer I expect. Just because of that ill give you a cut”

“Wait wait I thought this was hypothetical” she stated

“Oh, yeah no I lied”

Hajoon sighed, “Sooo. whos the dipshit”

“Hah! I might be alot of things but I’m not a narc.”

“Thats fair”

“Is it?” he asked, turning his phone off as he sat up.

“Honey…i love you but shut up please”

“Snitches dont get checks just so you know”

“Thats not the phrase”

“Do i look like i give a fuck”

“You look like you need to be in a psych ward and rehab.”

Jin laughed as he knocked over the camera that laid on the coffee table, “OH FUCK!”

Bak Yerim laughed hysterically, “Ahjussi was so much fun when he was younger, what happened?” she said through her laughs.

Yoohyun stared, “He…never said anything about this…I knew something was up but this…” he trailed off, hands fidgeting as his gaze turned to the floor.

Yoo Myeongwoo hesitating raised his hand to gently rub his back, offering what little comfort he could muster for the young master.

“This still doesn’t give enough concrete evidence…”

“Evidence for what! Being a kid?” Moon Hyuna retaliate as she stared at the stoic man. His arms were crossed as he stared down the woman.

“He’s committing grave crimes, and at such a young age at that…”

“Korea was different back then, everyone was different…”

“Then why is Han Yoohyun so shocked then? So surprised by the actions of his elder brother?”

Sung Hyunjae smiled, his usual unnerving smile, “We could watch more and gather some more information. We have dozens of files at our disposal and Yoojin-ssi won’t be back for quite some time~”

Yoohyun snapped his head up and looked at the blonde, “How do you know that?”

Hyunjae hummed as he looked back at Moon Hyuna, “Play the next won’t you?”
