Chapter Text
Tango had never been one to fall in love. That was until he met Jimmy. Jimmy was all he could ever want in a man! Breathtakingly handsome, kind, and maybe just a little oblivious. What wasn’t there to love? Absolutely nothing!… except for the fact that he was always busy.
Tango had been wanting to ask Jimmy out for months, but he was always busy! He probably didn’t even know Tango had been asking him out on dates!
Oh, well. Right now he should focus on his coffee before it gets cold instead of some guy that doesn’t even know that Tango likes him!
Tango got snapped out of his thoughts when a server came to take his order.
“Sir?” The server said, waving their note pad. “What would you like to order?” The server asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh! Yeah— umm… I’d like to order… a fruit crepe?” He answered, handing the menu to the server.
The server wrote down his order. “Anything else?” They asked. Tango shook his head.
He went back to thinking about Jimmy. Does Jimmy like him back? What could he do to make Jimmy like him back? Maybe they could hang out more often? No, Jimmy was almost always busy.
Tango groaned, laying his head down on the table. Jimmy plagued his thoughts almost every moment of the day and it was starting to get annoying! He wanted to focus on something else for once but he just couldn’t!
Then, the restaurant door opened, causing Tango to snap back into reality. He glanced at the door, seeing… Jimmy!… and Scott too I guess.
Jimmy and Scott had always been close friends, so it only made sense for them to be having breakfast together. In fact, Tango had once heard they were actually roommates! Tango felt a little envious of their friendship, because he wanted to be that close to Jimmy.
He watched them sit at a booth in the corner of the restaurant, on the opposite side of the room. He internally cried that he wouldn’t be able to “accidentally” bump into Jimmy. Maybe if he—
The server placed his food down with a quiet ‘clink.’ He thanked the server and began to eat.
The crepe was incredibly good. It was disgustingly sweet but also refreshing at the same time. It completely distracted him from his thoughts
about Jimmy. The only thing he could focus on was the taste of the crepe.
Soon enough, he completely finished the crepe, taking a sip of the coffee to wash the taste away.
He glanced back at the table Scott and Jimmy were at. His eyes softened as he looked at Jimmy’s smiling face. It looked like he was talking about something he liked. He was a bit jealous that Scott was able to sit so close to Jimmy while he was smiling like that. At least he wouldn’t have to worry about Jimmy and Scott liking each other because they were only friends… right?
It didn’t matter, because Tango was positive he could get Jimmy to like him back… some day. Hopefully soon. He could NOT last another day loving Jimmy without dating him.
Then, Scott and Jimmy got up to leave. It was surprising how fast they ate! But then again, Tango had been day dreaming the entire time, so I guess it made sense.
He watched as Scott and Jimmy walked out. He paid for his check and decided to follow them. He was really curious on how close Jimmy and Scott really were. Did they have a queer platonic relationship or just a normal friendship?
It really wasn’t hard to follow them, since they were taking their time walking home. They also walked near lots of shrubbery to hide in, so it made things convenient for Tango. He wondered what they were talking about, but he was too far, and much too scared to get closer since there was a chance he could get caught. He didn’t want Jimmy to think he was weird! That would ruin their chances together!
Scott and Jimmy started to hold hands, which wasn’t strange for them, but it still made Tango wonder just how close they actually were. Scott whispered something in Jimmy’s ear, causing Jimmy to laugh. Tango almost groaned at how close Jimmy and Scott were—before stopping himself. He didn’t want to get caught after all! That would be an absolute disaster!
They got to their shared home, Scott pushing Jimmy through the door and slamming it hard with a ‘bang!’ Tango flinched at how hard the door was slammed. He heard laughs in the inside of the house and he longed to see what was going on, but decided against it. After all, nobody likes unannounced visits, no matter how good friends you are with someone.
From what Tango could hear, they were talking about someone Jimmy liked. Tango hoped that it was him, since It would be a dream come true for Tango if Jimmy liked him back.
He heard laughs and wished he could be in Scott’s place. He wanted to see Jimmy be that happy with him.
After a while, he concluded that Scott and Jimmy had a queer platonic relationship and he decided to walk home. It was much too chilly to stay outside all day. He checked his watch and saw that it was already nine in the morning! He had started eating breakfast at seven in the morning! Had he been following them for two hours? Oh no… he had wasted all that time following his crush around instead of doing something productive!
He hurried home, remembering he had wanted to finish a project he had started for fun at first, but wanted to gift to Jimmy after remembering he had mentioned something about it. It was supposed to be a birthday present for Jimmy, so he had to finish it soon. He wouldn’t want to show up to Jimmy’s birthday without a gift!… It was then that he realized he was absolutely hopeless.
