Chapter Text
It felt like an oddly quiet day in the Street Sekai, put aside the mildly loud scolding from Meiko in the other room where Kaito was. Something about ‘icecream’ and ‘bought two days ago’. It felt really weird that day, too.
Rin was in the cafe, wiping down the tables. There was a certain teal-haired girl that she was trying to get off of her mind, and it was sort of bothering her in a way that wasn't necessarily bad, but not good either.
Miku had been in the corner of the room, leaning against the wall with her arms crossed while seemingly staring at Rin. She seemed to be in deep thought about something. There was a sweet smile on her face— it was a bit creepy.
Rin eventually noticed this, and smiled back. She continued to wipe the tables, until she finally called out to Miku. It was unlike her to space out like this, as she usually openly shared her thoughts.
“Miku? Earth to Miku! You good?”
Miku looked up suddenly, snapping out of her thoughts. She smiled a bit bigger, flustered. The squeaking of the wipe on the table had stopped.
“Ah. . Ahaha! ✩ My bad, Rin. Must've. . Must've spaced out. . Yeah!”
Rin looked a bit worried and confused at the same time.
“You don't usually —”
“— Want some help with the tables?”
It was also odd for Miku to dismiss something so quickly like that.
“. . Sure.”
Rin handed Miku a damp rag, and she gladly took it. Miku started wiping the table farthest from Rin.
Rin felt a hand on her shoulder. It was her brother, Len. She jumped a bit, causing Len to laugh a little.
“Woah, calm down. What's got you so freaked out?”
Rin scoffed.
“You scared me. Other than that. . Have you noticed anything weird with Miku? She's acting weird.”
— “Especially since she usually tells us everything.”
“No, not really. That is kinda weird though. You also seem to be thinking about something.”
— “Don't you like her or something?”
Rin sighed, stopping her hand movement of wiping the table, and looked at Len.
“Len, don't be silly. Virtual Singers don't have feelings like that, we're made from the sekai owner's feelings.”
Len went quiet and put a finger up to his lip. It looked like he was thinking of something.
“Didn't Meiko like a while ago explain that whatever the vocaloids feel the sekai singers feel?”
Rin paused. That was a possibility.
“I guess. . That still doesn't mean we have our own feelings.”
Len rolled his eyes at her denial.
“Whatteeevveerrr. . You do you.”
Len walked off into the back room, where Meiko and Kaito were walking out. He was still getting scolded for the ice cream.
