"Something in me is changing." they sobbed.
Mushroom doesnt want this change, and especially not now. Their body is changing and it feels less and less like theirs every day. Mushroom could feel something shifting in her body; they are taller now, a veil is growing through - no matter how much they try hide it, and their hips are widening. It makes them feel sick to their stomach.
They their best to hide form any and all reflections, but somehow they still catch glimpses of the disgusting, gross, horrid body that they have to live in; the puddles on the forest floor and the glass husks the razors keep seem to find entertainment in making them feel like utter trash.
Theyre scared of whats happening to them.
This isnt their body, apart from it is.
They can feel the growing pains through their limbs and body, they can move their arm and the body their in moves with, the reflection on glass husks dont lie and neither did the mirror in their parents room.
Their skin was crawling onto them, morphing in ways that didnt match what they felt like.
They continued crying.
To curl up into a sphere and die would be quite nice. Its just that they always respawn, they have to respawn, and then they have to watch their body change in ways they dont want it to all over again and observe it grow even more. Mushroom wishes they could never age past 11, everything seems to go wrong after that point.
Growth spurts, body fat distrobution changes, their organs hiding in organspace sending out too many signals to screw over everything they like about themself, and the veil.
Mushroom spends hours a day, away from the pack and dynamite, staring at puddles trying their best to tear off that veil.
their tears rolling down their face started to slow down.
Its a shame they are immortal, so cruel they would have to live their life in such an uncomfortable body forever while being forced to witness everyone close to them die. Their dad was probably in centre ring, either dead or stumbling painfully around like those assimilated objects they saw months back, and its only time before Dynamite would go too.
"I dont want to live forever wihout you," Mushroom chocked, finally bringing themself to turn around to look at their friend.
Mushroom had to keep doing stuff; walking around in camp, fishing in the rivers, helping the pack with duties, existing; for him to stay for longer.
Still, they wanted to go back to 10 years old, carving drawings in the trees and playing on the swings at school. Their body alligning with their mind, nothing going wrong, the world back how it should be.
They just have to stumble around painfully in their skin untill it can go right, it seems. Avoid reflections and smile like they love their body.
Mushrooms parents are gone with them as their daughter, thats alright. Maybe Wirewrap will return after the rings recover? They dont have to be their daughter, for now they have to be strong and wait, right?
They will live a million years, they have to make it through today.
Ignore the reflections and the veil laying on your back, its going to be alright.
atleast they dont have to go to school anymore, havibg the name 'eden' be called out 10+ times a day only would make lthem worse.
This skin still didnt feel like theirs and time only made it worse, the time will pass anyways and its going to get worse regardless.
the forest stayed quiet for a while
