A Scarlet Seed

Summary:

As the Secretive Plotter learns more about this world of secondary dynamics, the more he recognizes that this world is the perfect world for him to settle into.

That, and being the outer god that he is, he has the ability to manifest whatever secondary dynamic he so pleases into his own form.

And that is something that the Secretive Plotter… no, Yoo Joonghyuk intends to take full advantage of.

It is a split second decision to push the alpha Yoo Joonghyuk of this world into another timeline and take his place.

No, he cannot fully manifest himself yet, being who and what he is, but it is only a matter of time before he reclaims everything that is rightfully his.

The Secretive Plotter cuts into a final dimension and claims his happy ending.

Notes:

It's been a while since I did drabble sequences (drabble-and-a-half in this case), and I quite enjoyed returning to that style!

Telling a story with many scenes but being limited to exactly 150 words per scene was a fun challenge.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Another world.

Another cycle.

Another void.

The Secretive Plotter has long since lost count of how many iterations he has lived through and how many more iterations he has borne witness to as the true outsider.

Neither mortal nor constellation.

Not even an entity native to this universe.

In truth, he does not understand why he still persists along this path.

After regressing through what must be almost two thousand cycles based on the numbers the kkomas wear, finally discovering the truth of the world he has always existed within, and very nearly seeing the end of this long, arduous journey only to have the true root of everything he knows fully disintegrate before his eyes, perhaps he should have stopped there.

After all, he now knows the identity of this powerful, precious, unfortunate origin.

It does not matter anymore, however, because this next iteration will be the last one.

It does not take very long for him to bid farewell to the current, doomed dimension he has called home and depart for what will hopefully become his final, eternal residence.

The idea of leaving an asleep Kim Dokja with an inferior regressor that could not even protect his so-called companion irritates him, but something tells him that the brilliance that once marked Kim Dokja's existence no longer exists in that world.

Beyond that, this Kim Dokja, for some reason, chose that man despite his faults.

And it galls him so, especially now that he knows the truth about everything.

Until he remembers that this Kim Dokja is just one among many out there.

That, and even if his true origin disappeared, he must exist somewhere.

With his resolve made, it is easy to leave for the new world.

A universe where he is the one Kim Dokja remains beside.

The Secretive Plotter wonders if the most recent Uriel has influenced him in some way.

He recalls her rather… passionate behavior, as if simultaneously watering a newly sprouted seed and worshipping the most ancient, illuminating star that is Kim Dokja.

And the Secretive Plotter cannot help but agree with her overall worldview.

Because it is incredibly easy for him to locate Kim Dokja in this new universe, now that he knows exactly what to look for and what he truly wants his his heart.

Except, the more he ponders the situation, the more he realizes that Uriel didn't go far enough.

Of course, as a fan of Kim Dokja's, she kept close tabs on him and supported him.

However, despite her best efforts, even she was unable to save him.

It is clear to the Secretive Plotter where she fell short.

That is, to let him see danger at all.

The Secretive Plotter is somewhat confused when he first arrives in this new world.

At first, things start as they did in the previous world, with Kim Dokja getting on a train, that dokkaebi appearing and announcing the first scenario, and chaos and mass panic descending in short order.

However, as the passengers assess each other and begin to jockey for power, he notices their unusual behavior— not unusual in any technical differences with how this scene played out last time, but in how these people behave and address each other this time.

Namely, these Greek letters as forms of address and these inhuman micro-behaviors.

He notes alphas glaring at each other, omegas playing down their presence as they strategically glance about, and betas doing a combination of both, albeit even more weakly.

None of them dare to move.

Not until a beta Kim Dokja decides to sprout and shine.

According to an unusually enthusiastic Uriel, the humans of this world are indeed different from the humans the Secretive Plotter knows of.

And as far as he is concerned, this is very much to his benefit.

As he learns more about this world of secondary dynamics, the more he recognizes that this world is the perfect world for him to settle into. That, and being the outer god that he is, he has the ability to manifest whatever secondary dynamic he so pleases into his own form.

And that is something the Secretive Plotter… no, Yoo Joonghyuk intends to take advantage of.

It is a split second decision to push the alpha Yoo Joonghyuk of this world into another timeline and take his place. He cannot fully manifest himself yet, being who he is, but it is only a matter of time before he reclaims everything that is rightfully his.

It seems fortune may finally be glancing his way after countless aeons.

Largely due to the presence of these secondary dynamics in this world.

It is refreshing to be presented with an entirely foreign challenge for the first time in an eternity— especially since it entails getting used to these new alpha instincts washing over him. Between the sensory overload and the unbridled energy, entirely different from the calm, overwhelming power of an outer god, it is a lot to take at once.

Being who he is, however, he acclimatizes in short order.

It is not until Yoo Joonghyuk is on the ground, however, that he realizes just how difficult it is to keep Kim Dokja out of trouble. For a moment, he almost sympathizes with that other inferior version of himself in the previous world— but only for a split second.

Because he will succeed where that regressor failed.

As a beta, Kim Dokja should not carry any overtly alpha or omega-coded traits.

And for the most part, it appears that he does not.

The way he carries himself is not so dissimilar to how he existed in the previous world.

That is, whenever Yoo Joonghyuk himself isn't around.

Of course, no such time truly exists. He is an outer god with tools at his disposal, and he will be damned if he doesn't keep an eye, however distant, on Kim Dokja at all times.

However, Kim Dokja himself is not quite aware of his inhuman nature.

He is also unaware of the faintly sweet scent emanating from him and his more… coy and coquettish behavior whenever he is around Yoo Joonghyuk.

Yoo Joonghyuk isn't particularly inclined to inform him, just quite yet.

If anything, he wonders how he can encourage and induce more of this sort of behavior.

Although Yoo Joonghyuk is agnostic on the issue of secondary dynamics, it is increasingly difficult to ignore just how much better suited to being an omega Kim Dokja would be.

It is nothing major. Yoo Joonghyuk will have him in whatever form he comes in.

However, whenever he towers over Kim Dokja and notes the way Kim Dokja pitches his voice in a certain softer way and how he is not even consciously aware of it, and how that faint scent is now a full blown floral sweetness, almost as strong as an omega's scent, he cannot stop his thoughts from wandering even further into hypotheticals and what could potentially be.

Especially given the eternity he is condemned to and the bond they could share.

His eyes are always on Kim Dokja in some fashion.

And now, they are also on their future together, as he ponders over the possibilities.

It is only a matter of time before someone else takes notice of the situation.

For now, while attention centers on them for their combat prowess and synergy, there is not much in the way of personal rumors, and Yoo Joonghyuk would prefer to keep it that way.

Especially since, as he later learns, none of the other alphas smell anything from Kim Dokja.

It is him, and him alone, that perceives Kim Dokja's true self and he won't have it any other way.

When that fateful prophecy arrives, foretelling Kim Dokja's death, it is time to act. It is a bit risky, but his presence as an outer god and his knowledge of countless timelines will ensure his success and their future together— a future that is increasingly falling into place in his mind.

Because now, he is certain that Kim Dokja is meant to exist as his omega.

When Yoo Joonghyuk returns to his domain in full form for the first time, ever since he took his place in this new world, it is with an unconscious Kim Dokja in his arms.

It is unfortunate that he was unable to avoid turning Kim Dokja into an inhuman entity similar to himself in the moment the prophecy had to be fulfilled, but when the other option was letting Kim Dokja slip from his grasp yet again, the path forward became crystal clear.

Now, he sits on the edge of the bed where he laid Kim Dokja down and he runs his hand over his still pale but warm cheek down to his neck. To date, he has carried out minor actions— kissing him when he is unaware, scenting his clothing, and similar to nudge his nature.

Now that they are here, though, he can proceed with more blatant intention.

Kim Dokja is naturally stunned when he discovers that he is not only alive and well, but that he has been swept away to this foreign domain altogether. As he regales his thoughts to Yoo Joonghyuk once he awakens, Yoo Joonghyuk can only stare at the deep red mark he'd left on Kim Dokja's neck on a whim the previous night, as he takes in every word.

Within moments, Kim Dokja's voice quiets down and a rather enticing blush graces his cheeks.

His mind immediately conjures an image of a Kim Dokja in the throes of heat and it is all but possible for him to will away this beautiful, alluring image, now that it is stuck in his mind.

Soon, soon. Such a day will arrive eventually, given his stronger scenting and proximity.

Perhaps, though… he should consider going a step further, to bring such a day ever closer.

At first, Yoo Joonghyuk was unsure what path would best suit them.

He originally intended to drop his alpha dynamic after whisking Kim Dokja away.

Those plans dissipated the moment Kim Dokja began behaving like an omega.

And now, Yoo Joonghyuk is merely making it official— first through casual touches and scenting, then through copious sexual intimacy.

At first, sex with Kim Dokja is similar to what he knows. However, given other information, Yoo Joonghyuk makes sure to leave his alpha-tinged seed in and around him, both after sex and as he sleeps.

It pays off when, just one moon cycle later, Kim Dokja blooms like a gorgeous blossom, with a deep blush gracing his feverish body and him fervently moaning Yoo Joonghyuk's name with a certain desperation.

Yoo Joonghyuk knows he made the right decision to alter Kim Dokja's dynamic permanently.

And soon, they will be bound together eternally.

Notes:

I wrote this null/beta to alpha/omega idea with that 'drabble and a half' sequence narrative structure in mind, but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't vaguely tempted by the idea of rewriting this idea in a longer work with more traditional prose (...whatever passes for my typical writing style, at least). Then and again, I have all sorts of ideas, so who knows if I'll get around to that.

Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed the work!
