Work Text:
The leaves on the trees were bright green, the flowers at its peak, the sunlight warming the land, shining ever so brightly, it seemed like the perfect day to hang out until the sun sets and the moon rises; yet, a little Alexander was tangled by his blankets, wetting them with the salty tears that brewed in his precious eyes, breathing as steadily as possible in given situation, his chest rising dramatically with every breath, even though he was young, he knew this feel a little too well for his sake.
Alex was a brilliant child, he was praised by every grown up who met him, he had bright ideas, strong opinion and everyone knew he could easily argue himself out of any scenario; but the same story wasn’t repeated when it came to kids his age, Alex was well known, he was charming, a gentlemen, and a very good friend; always knew what to talk about and how to make people feel better when having a bad day; until he was too much, those two words had marked him since he first heard them at the ripe age of six at parent teacher conference, those words stuck to him like gum stucks to a sole, he was overly aware of his own behavior, and despite all of his efforts, he was still too much.
Nothing in particular happened that day, just that his “friends” had a sleepover and didn’t invited him, but it felt like someone took his heart and stomp on it; it was just hurtful.
“Can I come in?” A familiar voice creep through the cracks of the door, he didn’t respond but the woman still turned the knob and came in the room. “Are you okay, sugar?” Oh sweet motherly love, all he could do was shake his head, she hugged the tangled blankets around her sons small silhouette.
“Ma, why dont kids like me? Is there something wrong with me?” Ellen’s heart sank in her chest, breaking into thousands of millions of pieces, her youngest son was asking her that single question no mother would want their kid to ask.
“Baby, look at me,” she said, as she saw the boy turning her head away, when he finally met her gaze, his eyes were red and puffy “listen to me, there is nothing wrong with you, I promise. They don’t know what they are missing out on, you are smart, charming, funny, and a great friend. You are perfect the way you are, and you don’t need to change to be liked, you’ll find people who love you just the way you are.”
And she was about right, soon after a new girl came and practically adopted Alex, and forced him to become her best friend. Nora was just what Alex needed, a levelheaded girl, that was also a real life chaos demon, Alex’s words by the way. She called out Alex on his bullshit, and also consoled him on those bad days, she was the calm during a storm.
And life was good, they hung out pretty often, and June, Alex’s sister, usually joined them, she was a good addition to the group. The three of them could run the world if they wished.
It was all to perfect, until he came to the equation, the were in sophomore year of high school, and two new boys arrived, both looked… rich. What the fuck were they doing at an Austin public school?
One of them was assigned to seat right next to Alex, who was seated alone due to his imposition to keep his mouth shut, dare say that the boy was precious, lose jeans hugged his thighs, a blue cashmere sweater rested neatly on top of a lighter blue shirt; his blonde hair looked made of gold when the sun light hit it, his eyes were as blue as they could be.
But all Alex could see is that he looked like a stuck up brat who was enrolled in a public school as a punishment. Quite a conclusion he got there based on just the appearance of the guy.
“Hello, I’m Henry” Alex snapped back to look at him, that posh accent couldn’t be hidden, “Alex” responded snarky , this was so unlike his character, he was usually this charming, charismatic boy that could make everyone laugh without saying a word, not even he knew why he was acting this way towards the innocent Henry, bless his soul.
The rest of the day flew by, and somehow, the new boy had the same exact schedule as Alex, and he was going insane, Henry wasn’t annoying or anything, quite the opposite actually, he was quiet, shy and introverted, he barely spoke all day. And somehow Alex had already formed an opinion on him.
About two weeks passed, they were sitting on last period, everyone desperate to go home to do anything aside from studying, Henry was sitting next to him yet again; saying Alex was bored was a understatement, even though calculus wasn’t his favorite subject, he was still a slave of boredom.
A note was slides across the shared desk, a crumbled piece of paper that read in neat and delicate handwriting: “star wars?” He looked at the pair of blue eyes that were now staring at him looking for a reaction.
He exaggeratedly gestured his hands trying to say without words what he meant by that. Henry’s fingers travelled until touching a sticker stormstrooper pasted on Alex’s note book. He wrote back and slid once again the note to the blond. “yeah big fan. U like Star Wars?”
Henry nodded enthusiastically, and he wrote back once again “favourite?”, the answer was obvious in Alex’s mind, empire was the best Star Wars movie of all times, he could write essays dedicated to it. “empire, obviously. What about u?”
The other one rolled his eyes and scribbled a bit and returned the note “Empire is good, but my personal favourite is Return of a Jedi” Alex’s face contorted into an almost disgusted expression Jedi? Who the fuck like Jedi?
“WRONG!!” Was written in bold letters. His eyes rolled once again “Wrong?? How can I be wrong on a personal truth?” But before he could reply why Henry was wrong the class was dismissed, they finally could speak without interfering with the lesson.
“Empire is objectively better, you just like Jedi because it was a happy ending.” said Alex, in that distinctive tone that Nora recognized even 3 desks away.
“What does Jedi have anyway? Fucking Ewoks?”
“Ewoks are iconic, may I say.” Henry answered.
“Ewoks are stupid.” Before he could keep arguing with Henry, Nora appeared from behind him. “Alex, June wants to go get milkshakes with some new friends of her, are you joining us?”
He looked at her, “yeah of course.” Henry looked, to say the least, uncomfortable, he believed it was rude and tacky to make plans infront of people who aren’t invited, but really, who would like to hang out with someone as boring as him?
“You can join us too if you’d like.” Those cerulean-coloured eyes widened as he tried to comprehend what the girl just said.
“Me?” He asked, receiving an affirmative nod from Nora “erm, sure, I’d love to.” A small smile formed on his face, like a child who was told he could have ice cream after dinner.
They met at the school gate, but what Nora and Alex didn’t expect is Henry to practically sprint towards June’s friends and hug them tightly. “Hazza! I haven’t seen you all day, babes” said the man hugging Henry.
“You know each other?” June asked.
“I mean, I have been sharing house with her for about 16 years, and he basically adopted me in primary school, so yeah” Henry responded with a smile stretching his lips. The three of them laughed.
“So, what brought y’all to America?” Alex isn’t exactly known for his subtlety, Nora almost spit out her milkshake in order to smack his shoulder, but Henry answered first.
“It was our dad’s job, it’s easier flying from state to state than from Europe to America,” he replied as calmed as one could be. “and Percy couldn’t be left alone, so he convinced his father to let him finish high school here” the other man nodded along.
“What does your dad do?” June curiously asked, both siblings debated wether or not to tell, a silent conversation only they heard.
Finally Bea spoke “he’s an actor and film director. ” they were shocked, it’s not a frequent occurrence to befriend the children of an actor.
“Wow, is he like, famous?” Again Alex’s lack of subtlety was showing once again.
“I don’t know, I guess he is recognizable by some people.” Oh dear Henry, always humble. “Hazza, your dad is quite literally James Bond, don’t demerit his fame.”
“As in THE Artur Fox? That’s your father?” Alex’s mouth was on the floor, Arthur was his favorite James Bond, and he was obsessed with the saga growing up.
“Yes…?”
Alex’s jaw was on the floor, he was the biggest fan of James Bond, especially Arthur Fox’s James Bond, he had grown up watching those movies.
The rest of the afternoon was… lovely. Henry was really nice to be around, he had an incredible sense of humor, he was smart, very cultured and didn’t seem to be frightened by Alex’s enthusiasm. And even though Alex didn’t want to admit it, his prejudices against Henry were just that, prejudices.
How could he hate him after that? It was very unjustified one-sided rivalry after all, and he wasn’t that obvious that Henry had noticed, he could definitely befriend him.
Yep, Alex’s mind is a proper disaster, but how can you not love this hot mess?
Alex was making an effort to talk to Henry, and so far it has been nice, they have had awesome conversations during lunchtime, and honestly, Henry is very nice to have around, they clicked almost instantly after a few chats. “Have you finish your calculus worksheet? It’s dua tomorrow” Henry said, looking like a damn puppy with those bright blue eyes.
“Shit, no I haven’t, I don’t understand one bit of calc” he was probably going to have a restless night, filled with YouTube tutorials and crumpled papers filling the trash can.
“Maybe try paying attention to class, instead of passing me notes, I swear we’re getting caught any day now”
“I’m sorry Mr. Perfect. I do pay attention, you know all of this because you learned it back in England. Also, I thought you liked my notes.” He rolled his eyes at Henry.
“That may be true, and I do enjoy your heavily opinioned notes. But you should really focus on class, I would hate for you to fall behind.” Said meeting Alex’s gaze once again “if you’d like, you could come around my house today and I could kind of tutor you.”
“That would be great, I’ll text my mom” Alex smiled happily. Things worked out great with Henry, after all, he is indeed a good friend.
The walk home is very short and calm, the sidewalk was filled with leaves already turned red and brown, once arrived at the Fox residence, Henry unlocked the door using the passcode and welcomed him to his house.
The suburban home was lovely, lots of family pictures, and adequate decor, with some British influences of course. Some of Arthur’s movie posters were clinging onto the walls leading the stairs; Bea went directly to her room not even minding the boys.
“You want lunch or something? I think mum left pie for us.” Henry offered.
“Thanks Hen, but I’m not really hungry, you can eat though.” Alex answered but Henry just shook his head politely, not hungry either apparently.
Henry’s room was in the second floor, it wasn’t what Alex expected, it had a gigantic bookshelf filled with classical and contemporary novels, and had a small Luke Skywalker action figure resting against a copy of “pride and prejudice”, various posters on his wall, a corkboard over his desk, with perfectly organized papers and to-do lists pinned to it; his desk had a book he was currently annotating and a flock of post its on top, and some other stationary objects near, his bed was neatly made, dark blue sheets. Somehow it made sense for him.
Henry removed his book for the desk and let Alex at there, saying Alex was paying attention would be a fat lie, he was so lost in Henry’s cerulean eyes, they shined in a way that could hypnotize even the most strong headed people, his voice was now muffled and the only thought in his head was Henry.
“Are you even listening to me? Earth calling Alex.” Were the words able to pull him out of his self-induced trance.
“I’m sorry Hen, I got distracted.” Responded shyly, the afternoon went smoothly after that, Henry was a really good tutor whe Alex wasn’t a castaway in those two ocean blue irises.
“Hello, son- oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t know you had visits” someone irrupted in the room, no other than the Academy award winner, Arthur Fox, or for Henry, just dad.
“Hi dad, this is Alex, he is my classmate” ouch, he knew they had just started talking about two weeks ago, but being called classmate hurts a little, but tha doesn’t matter when Arthur fucking Fox was standing there as if he wasn’t the most attractive man to ever walk this earth.
“Nice to meet you son, are you joining us for supper?” Someone needs to pinch Alex, he’s not okay, Arthur Fox just called him son and asked him to star for dinner. He could die happily now.
“Umm, nice t-to meet you Mr. Fox. If you’d like for me to stay, I will gladly do.” He had a gleam in his eyes, a smile stretching the corners of his mouth.
“Alright then, make sure your parents are aware, I don’t want though getting in trouble” Arthur said as he closed the door, Alex was still processing all of that interaction, trying to engrave every single detail into his brain.
Eventually, he finished his homework meanwhile Henry sits in his bed and reads the book that was previously on the desk, he’s curled up with a blanket on top of his lap, occasionally giggling at the book, Alex almost distracted himself with the cute sounds, but he didn’t.
Hey went downstairs to have supper, as they called it, and it was very nice, Bea was very talkative, always including Alex in the discussion, Arthur was this loving father figure, very down to earth, and very zen, Henry’s mother wasn’t in the country apparently, she wasn’t doing some things back at England according to what was discussed at the table. Even though Alex had known this people for very little time, he feels like one of them, a warm feeling that was telling him he belongs there.
“See you at school tomorrow.” Said Henry before Alex left, his house was very near and he assured Arthur he would be just fine walking there. “See you tomorrow, Hen” smiled back at the boy.
The next few weeks went relatively smoothly, except for the uneasy feeling in his chest every time Henry looked at him for even a single moment, his chest tightened, his heart skipped a beat and his brain forgot how to form sentences, a very weird acquaintance, since he is allergic to shutting the fuck up, his mom’s assistant words.
He was really weirded out by this, why were all his waking thoughts about his certain blond with thick accent? He was pacing down his room, trying to think of a logical conclusion, he swears if he doesn’t stop he’s going to make a hole in the floor of his room.
“Alexander I swear to god if you don’t stop I’m going to beat your ass!” Nora groaned awake, she was taking an afternoon nap on Alex’s bed and his nonstop pacing had woken her up.
“I’m sorry, I’m just making up my mind.” He said.
“What’s worrying you? You know you can talk to me,”
He had a quick mental debate wether or not tell her what’s going on, but he knew that if someone would help him, was Nora. “It’s about a situation in my life,”
She sat down straight on the bed as he pulled a chair and sat infront of her. “So, there’s this someone, I met them a few months ago, and I disliked them, but know I’ve become sort of their friend,”
She realized the lack of gendered pronouns on Alex’s story, but kept listening his ranting. “but every time I’m with them, I feel weird? Something I’ve never felt before, I don’t know what it is and it’s driving me nuts.”
“Okay, what do you feel then? Is it like a crush we’re talking about?” asked in the most delicate yet direct manner.
“I don’t know. I’ve had crushes before, but this is different. I feel like my lungs can’t contain enough air, and I feel nervous. I don’t know how to describe it.” He was blabbering now “but when I look into his eyes I feel like nothing else matters in this stupid world, truly hypnotizing.”
Something clicked inside her “is this about Henry?” He didn’t confirm nor denied the affidavit, but it was written all across his face.
“I’m just shocked about being into guys, it had never crossed my mind before, do you think I might be gay? Or maybe I’m bisexual?” he looked like a puppy that had been abandoned.
“Alex, that is not a question you should ask me, but ask yourself. I don’t know what you might be feeling. And it’s okay to be confused, you are still a teenager, it’s your time to figure out what you like and you don’t like. If you are into guys or not it’s okay.” she held both his hands, she has had these kind of conversations with him over the many years of friendship. “Just be mindful about the feelings the other person might have.”
“Thanks Nora, you are the best friend someone could ask for.” He hugged her and kissed her cheek softly. He was going to be alright.
It was already late January. The weather had dropped a few degrees and the city had lighted up with holidays spirit. Henry and Alex were even closer than before, they started texting a lot, sending eachother memes, having FaceTimes in which they both discussed about various topics for hours, sometimes they would stay up late chatting and laughing about any sort of things.
They also started using these cheesy pet names, Alex would usually call him baby or sweetheart, but being called love by Henry was what made his heart skip a beat every single time.
It was their thing, and when they were together the whole world silenced and only they exited. Needless to say that Alex figured that he indeed had a crush on Henry, but he couldn’t help it, Henry was basically a prince stripped out of a fairy tale.
The holidays came and went, nothing too special, Alex hated this time of the year, because everything reminded of what he wanted the most but couldn’t have; a happy family. His dad moved to California and haven’t seen him in over a year, his mom was a workaholic who never had time for her children, and his stepfather couldn’t do much since he didn’t have a close relationship with Ellen’s kids. He only had his sister, that was his only stable family left.
He also visited a Henry’s home frequently, and had grown fond of his whole family, including the family dog, David, the cutest beagle to ever exist. Henry was also around his, but not nearly as often.
They were marathoning 2000’s rom-coms, both of them snuggled up, a warm and soft blanket covering them both. Watching movies with Henry was an activity Alex had acquired the taste of it, he isn’t the type to watch cheesy movies with a happy ending; but it would made Henry happy and forget all of his worries, it was ore than worth it.
Unexpectedly, Henry fell asleep halfway through the movie, Alex paused the movie and silently closed the laptop, the light from the lamp reflecting on Henry’s face, eyelashes turning golden, lips slightly parted, breathing softly, and head resting on Alex’s shoulder fanning his now messy hair on it.
“Are you finally awake sleeping beauty?” Was the first thing he said to Henry when he woke up after an hour long rest.
“Was I out for too long?” Eyes barely open, still not feeling Alex’s embrace gripping tightly his waist.
“Not too long, baby. But you snort pretty hard to be honest.” He snorted a laugh and received a smack by Henry.
“I do not snort, Alexander.”
He smiled widely, “Okay, you don’t. You are actually really quiet.”
“You watched me sleep?” Asked Henry, looking directly into Alex’s eyes. “Creep”
Something inside Alex doubted, actually felt that hot flush you feel when getting caught doing something inappropriate, but he shoved down the feeling like he always did with his feelings towards his best friend. “You literally fell a sleep on me, what did you expect me to do?”
Without any warning, Henry reached his hand until fetching a loose curl that draped over the other’s forehead. The world stopped as they locked eyes, the air stopped flowing, and the minutes stopped running. All that mattered in that precious moment was them, and only them.
Suddenly, Alex felt the softness pressed against his lips, this is not real, this is not real, except it was, before the daze of the moment fogged his thoughts, one of his hands orphaned the embrace and held Henry’s sharp jaw. Henry’s hand was tugging Alex’s hair and it was the best feeling. Ther lips slotted, fitted in like a puzzle, they were meant to be together.
Due to lack of oxygen they fell apart, before a word could be uttered, Henry halted the momentum and practically sprinted out of bed. Alex was lost in the situation, making up his mind, Henry just kissed, him a million questions and scenarios ran through his mind, but nothing compared to reality.
Henry was seconds away from fleeing the main door open and running away “what the fuck are you doing?” Alex asked, he was a mess, both of them were.
“I’m sorry Alex” was the last thing said before Henry opened the door and bolted out. Alex felt as if his feet were trapped in solid concrete, unable to move. Tears fell from his eyes, of course Henry didn’t like him back, why would he?
“Alex?” June said as she found his baby brother kneeled on the floor, crying his heart out.
“I messed it up June, I ruined it again” whispered, if she wasn’t that near she would have missed it. She didn’t respond or try to get a response out of him, just crouched to his level and hugged him as tightly as she possibly could and let him sob and cry until he was tired.
“I’m not sure what happened, but you didn’t ruin it. I promise you, everything is going to be alright.” He shook his head, knowing this was his fault, he should have stopped all of this when he realized about this crush, now he lost one of his only friends.
Henry was hyperventilating once he got home, he knew the feeling all too well, he was on the verge of a panic attack, his mind racing through all the situation, he was an idiot, he kissed Alex, how could he be such a twat?
He felt the dizzy spell before passing out, he just wished the floor would suck him and transport him elsewhere and fail to remember his location. His surroundings are a Gaussian blur now.
He doesn’t know how it happened but suddenly he was being told to inhale and exhale, the hand on his back is the is the only thing he manages to feel; he doesn’t pinpoint whose voice it is, but it’s grounding.
All his mental capacity is focused on breathing, and after a while he manages to compose himself, he now registers the person whose voice belonged to is his dad; still incapable of speaking to the fullest extent, just hugged the man gripping his shirt and hiding his face in the crook of his neck.
Next morning arrived; alarm marked 8:20 am, shit, he overslept, but it didn’t matter, he felt as if the world’s weight had been released onto him. Still groggy, he was on the mission to prepare himself some tea, school was out of the question after what happened last night, before Henry could forget it, his brain takes it as a personal task reliving the moment over and over again.
Lost in thought, eyes bloodshot and puffy from sobbing until he fell asleep, the kettle whistled in high pitch, letting him know the water inside was boiling. He somehow managed to pour it into a cup and brew the earl grey, added milk and sugar and drank it slowly.
He heard steps that creeped him out, everyone should be at work or school, it was Arthur, Henry tried and miserably failed to hide himself from his father. “Morning Henry”.
“Do you want to talk about what happened?” He continued not letting Henry answer the greeting “it’s okay if you don’t, I’m just worried about you. You scared me there.”
The thought process was quick but not any less complex, he wanted to say no, to deny anything that was bothering him, he wanted to say everything was fine; except nothing was fine. “I want to… talk about it. Can it be in your studio?” the response was shy and almost incomprehensible.
Arthur agreed, and walked there along side his son to the very back of the house, the most isolated place of the residence, Henry wasn’t scared of his rejection, he had come out to his family last year, and had also had an enormous disagreement that involved both his parents and his grandma, who was disappointed on his unatural deviances; hopefully their parents and siblings had been supportive all the way.
Silence reigned the room, but Henry obliged himself to speak, jumping and praying he wasn’t on a cliff.
“I ruined things with Alex,” was his first sentence that practically was spit out of his mouth “I was hanging at his place, and we were watching a film, I fell asleep, then I woke up and I did the most stupid thing in the world… I kissed him.”
Before Arthur could utter a word, Henry kept talking his blocky and stiff statements, abnormal to his usual eloquence and sway “Dad, the look in his eyes was horrific, they were blank, as if he hated every second of it. And I ran away, because I couldn’t bring myself to listen to him telling me he didn’t feel the same about me. I couldn’t bear it.” He’s voice breaking with the last words.
“Henry, I might have not seen his gaze at that very moment. But I have seen how Alex looks at you when he thinks you are not looking. I may not be a mind reader, but I can tell he’s down bad for you, just as much as you are for him.” The boy was soonly cut off with his dad’s words once again. “I know you are scared, your mom and I were a dumb idea at first too. But promise me you’ll talk to him, and no matter what the outcome is, it’s neither of your fault.”
The words sank into his whole being, maybe he had been to focused on himself to see the bigger picture. “Fine, I’ll talk to him.”
Henry grabbed his phone.
He had 17 missed calls and 4+ texts from Alex. He opened the chat to be greeted with a long pretentious paragraph:
“Henry, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for doing this to you, it’s not your fault, but mine…” Henry couldn’t bring himself to read any further, he almost smashed his phone to the ground, but instead placed it in the cabinet of his desk, leaving with out of his reach level. Felt as tears pricked his eyes and threatened to fell without success; tragic, that’s the word to discribe his love life. Tragic to fall in love with your friend, tragic to kiss him and being let down by text, simply tragic.
He had fallen into a deep slumber, interrupted by loud banging at the door, he wasn’t in the mood to move a single muscle in his body, reluctantly he went and opened, hoping it was his sister or Pez. Instead he was bewildered by the sight of Alexander Claremont-Diaz, wheezing and gasping for air.
“What are you doing here?” Voice as flat as it could get.
“What’s going on Henry? I didn’t think you were this way.” What’s that supposed to mean? A knot started to form within his throat.
“What way, Alexander?”
“An obtuse fucking asshole. An absolute prick, I understand I should have stopped this since day one; but be fucking serious.” Henry felt how his voice overflowing with emotion “I understand you don’t feel the same way I do. But running away and leaving me on read after I poured my heart out to you is cruel.”
Feel the same way? What is Alex saying? “Did you even read my whole message?” Apparently he had been thinking out loud, he dismisses his claim.
“You idiot. Henry, I like you. I’ve had a massive and embarrassing crush on you for the past months, I’ve been wishing upon the day you’d finally see me as more than a friend. And when we finally kissed, I thought we were on the same wavelength. But I understand if you don’t like me like that, I understand I can be too much from time to time, I get it, but you don’t have to be a fucking douchebag about it.” All of his southern accent glazing over his words.
He likes me? He likes me? “You like me?” Face unreadable, he always thought of himself an observant, he always noticed even the slightest changes in people, but evidently he was oblivious when it came to romantic feelings.
“Yes, you prick” Alex said dumbfounded.
“Quit insulting me. Alex, I like you too. And you aren’t too much, you will necer be too much for me, I just thought-“ his lips already parted around the words in his mind when they collided with other set of lips; if there was such thing as heaven, this is the closest thing in earth to it; Alex’s kiss feels as in Henry has been taken apart and rebuilt, its trascendental, his hands are exploring the other’s neck, he’s swaying under his touch, parting his lips open letting his now lover enter.
They fall apart, gasping for the air now missing from their lungs.
After a long chat, they get to resolve their differences, and agree that they both had been idiots that couldn’t see the bigger picture. So they decide to start dating.
They had been dating for around a month. Dating Alex was like riding a roller coaster, you can’t never expect what’s next. Alex is passionate, and can go on these hours long rants about any topic of interest, Henry could listen to him for centuries. Their relationship didn’t change much, apart from the smooching, in which they were getting a PhD at this point and time; but you can’t ask a man to not kiss those full lips that Henry possesses at every opportunity given.
So far only one person knows, Arthur, who found them both face flushed, revolted hair and them sitting within a 5 feet distance of eachother, it was quite obvious what was happening.
If Bea, Pez, June or Nora got asked, they’d say that they already know, the boys weren’t particularly good at hiding their romance, so they decided to bet on it.
15 dollars, Percy and Bea said it was going to be before Henry’s birthday, and Nora and June said after.
The celebration was delightful, just the 6 of them, and Henry’s parents. They played numerous games that ended in silly arguments and an explosion of laughter from everyone in the room. Henry was finally 17, that age most of us have daydreamed about, that age you hear songs about, that certain age.
Everyone gathered around the birthday boy, singing and chanting in his honour, the love and affection that was shown made him feel the luckiest teenager to exist. The cake was his favourite colour, carefully piped ruffles decorated the sides, in neat cursive was written his nae bellow the typical “happy birthday”. Subsequently to hi wishing upon a star and blowing out the candles, Catherine cut the cake.
Henry was peacefully enjoying his slice, whilst his boyfriend approached him and without a second thought wiped his cheek with a napkin and quickly replaced it with his lips. “You had something there, sweetheart.” Afore of his response, all eyes in the room went to them.
“Darling, I think the secret is out.” They laughed, actually laughed, their friends were quite happy for them, presumably no one won the bet, they for sure should’ve picked a different date.
