"jules, i'm concerned. you need to go home." lydia told julia, holding her hair back as the blonde hunched over the toilet, vomiting.

the brunette is, for once glad that the party's music is so loud, because it cancels out the sounds of retching and puking.

when she stops throwing up, she turns around slightly to face lydia.

despite her runny mascara and eyeliner all over her face, and the vomit around her mouth, lydia thinks she's beautiful, nonetheless.

(even though the throw-up is really gross, and lydia would prefer to get her cleaned up as soon as possible.)

"iiiiim okay.... i promise...! the party issssnt even o-over!" the girl hiccups in between the sentence, words slurred, volume raised due to the loud environment.

"no, cmon. we're getting you home."  lydia insisted, getting up from her spot on the dirty bathroom floor (she really needs to shower when this is all over).

she offers a hand to julia, who accepts it, and the curly-haired girl stumbles, slowly but surely getting up off the floor as well.

the room is spinning around her, it's hard for her to walk, so she has to lean on lydia for the most part.

lydia rips some toilet paper off the roll.

she grabs julia's face gently, turning her gaze towards her.

"wuh? whatcha doin'?" the blonde blinks owlishly with half-lidded eyes, long eyelashes fluttering.

"we need to clean you up first, and then you can go home."

"bleh... i don' wanna go homeee. but... okay... if you say so, lydia..."

she dabs the vomit off her face lightly and throws the toilet paper in the toilet.

she washes her hands off with soap and water, to get the vomit residue off.

"lydiaaa... you dont have to do all this for meee... youre so," hiccup. "niceee. thats rrreal nice of you."

lydia's face flushes slightly.

"i'm just being a good friend, jul."

"yeaaah. youre a real good friend." julia grins at the girl, staring with eyes glazed over in a drunken haze.

"thank you... we have to get your face cleaned up still. good thing i brought my bag in here. do you need any water to drink?"

"a water bottle would be goooodd right now. my mouth is dry as a desert."

"gotcha."

lydia reaches for her purse on the bathroom counter, digs in it to find some makeup remover, q-tips, and a water bottle.

she finds all that she was looking for. the items get placed on the counter.

"drink it slowly, don't chug it or you're gonna feel sick again.", she tells julia as she passes the water bottle to her.

julia takes this advice, and takes sips at a time, for about 5 minutes, and also rinses her mouth out with water.

"you ready for me to clean up your face a bit?" the blonde nodded silently.

she grabs julia's face as gently as before. "alright, hold still."

a makeup remover covered q-tip was smudged onto where the dried-up eye makeup stained her face.

after a minute or so, her face was relatively clean.

lydia released her hold on julias face, redirecting her hands to putting the supplies back in her purse.

"alright, you're good as new, we should head out now."

"okay."

lydia held her purse in one hand and opened the bathroom door with the other.

julia clutched onto her like a lifeline, slightly swaying around.

she walked out the bathroom, julia following closely behind, and she shut the door behind them.

lydia pushed past crowds of people to get to the exit, so that her and her friend could get the hell out of here already.

eventually, they make it out the front door, and onto the sidewalk.

"juli, you really shouldn't have got this drunk..." lydia securely holds onto her hand, almost as if someone's going to swoop down and take julia away.

"i know! i won't do it next time, swear." her lips downturned into a frown, and she's clearly regretting every choice she's made tonight. "i mean, who even cares about stupid sororities, anyway!" she stumbled slightly, the brunette keeping her balanced.

lydia sighed, she had better things she could've been doing with her night.

not to say that julia's a burden. of course not, lydia chose to help her after all!

they walk together at a steady pace for a while, around an hour, eventually reaching julia's house.

"well... we're here. i'll see you later." lydia let go of her hand and began to walk off, but stopped abruptly when she heard julia call out;

"wait. d-don't go yet. i've gotta tell you something."

if lydia didn't know any better, she would say that julia is... blushing right now? it's probably just her being flushed because of the alcohol.

...probably.

"oh? what's up?"

julia looked away, seeming uncharacteristically flustered.

"i... i like you. like, i like like you."

lydia stared in disbelief. "are you just saying that because you're drunk?"

julia blinked, seemingly caught off-guard that that assumption was even made.

"what? no! well, yes, and no... i needed, um, courage. yeah. to say it. and the alcohol gave me courage. but... i do mean it."

she sounded... actually sure of it, even through her stuttered out, slurred words.

"do you not feel the same? if you don't, we can just like forget i-"

lydia stepped closer to her, and cut her off with a kiss.

only a short peck, but she hoped that gesture showed her feelings enough.

clearly it did, because julia's pretty face was bright pink with blush.

"so that means you like me too, r-right?"

"how could anyone not like you?"

"you flatter me, ly... i should probably go inside."

"think you can make it inside on your own?" lydia replied, teasingly.

"i'll survive, i've made it through worse."

"if you insist."

"....offtopic, have you heard of that one restaurant downtown? you know, the fancy-shmancy one." julia asked.

"why, are you trying to take me on a date?" lydia winked.

"maybe i am."

"well, i think that would be nice."

"it would be. so, is that a yes?"

"you didn't even ask me, i just assumed correctly!" lydia smiled, matching the look on julia's face.

"okay geez, lydia, will you go on a date with me?"

"obviously."

julia beamed.

"i'll text you the details."

"gotcha! i should get going... so, see you then?"

"see ya!" the girls hugged as a goodbye.

julia watched as lydia walked away.

she smiled to herself with a dopey look on her face, knowing she scored a date with the prettiest girl she's ever seen.

...she should really get inside, it's freezing.

but the warm, fuzzy feeling in her chest distracts her from the cold.

she walks into her house, into her room, and promptly screams into her pillow.
