Work Text:

ugh. thank god he was finally home. he hated going to university lately. every single second of it. with every cell in his body. it just felt so exhausting. all of it. the thousand assignments. and the people. god. all those people. ilia was used to people either loving or hating him. but this was different. he felt like he couldn't tell the difference of his actual friends and those that just wanted to be in his proximity anymore. as if they just wanted to be close to him. not because they actually liked him, but because they wanted to flaunt him in a way. as if ilia was some label you could achieve.

but there were different people too. those that constantly looked at him. whispering to their friends when he walked by, then laughing after. maybe speaking a little too loud. just enough so ilia could hear what they were saying. constant whispers of how 'he didn't deserve his gold medal at the worlds', how 'he was so selfish and arrogant' or how 'he should be embarrased about his performance at the olympics'. god. they didn't even know him. they didn't know about the work he actually put in. and they certainly didn't care either.

ilia pushed his car door open, stepping out of his car. god. he was just so glad to be home again. and seeing mikhail again. thank god, mikhail had some time off. thank god, he could be here. ilia scrambled for his keys. sighing as he turned the key in its lock, pushing the door open with half of his body. he had honestly thought about dropping out lately. ilia knew he shouldn't care about what people were saying. but it was seriously getting harder not to. oh.

he looked through the house. mikhail. with elli. on the floor. sitting right in front of the little coffee table in the living room. ilia smiled a little to himself as he dropped his keys into the little bowl on the side table.

"no look, like we did before" mikhail pointed at something on a piece of paper, leaning forward a little. his elbow now resting on the table, his head resting on top of his hand. elli just nodded in response before she started writing something with her pencil.

"hey, we're working here" mikhail laughed as he picked one of ilias cats up, holding it in front of his face. making elli laugh at how seriously he was talking to the cat. "and you have no business being on the table" he placed a little kiss on the cats head before sitting it down next to him. still petting it as his body turned. smiling as he spotted ilia, still standing in the hallway.

and oh. ilia was wearing his glasses. which - to mikhail - was just the hottest thing ever. he didn’t know what it was about it. but oh. my. god. they just made ilia a hundred times hotter. maybe he had a little weakness for ilia. especially in those glasses.

well, no need to say how head over heels ilia was with him either. just the way he was sitting there. hair a little messy, a white oversized shirt and - ilia was pretty sure - a pair of ilias sweatpants. ilia knew how much elli loved him. god. it was like ilia didn't exist when mikhail was there. but in a good way.

ilia still smiled as he kicked his shoes off, his backpack still hanging off his shoulder. taking a few steps towards them. he leaned down, placing a little kiss on mikhails lips.

"hey" he smiled as he stood straight again, his eyes wandering over the pieces of paper spread over the coffee table. thank god, mikhail was doing this because whatever math assignment they were doing, ilia probably couldn't even do it himself. he may be going to university, but math was still his worst enemy.

and oh. that was just hot. how mikhail could always help elli with her homework. no matter which homework it was. or even helping ilia with his uni assignments. there was just nothing more attractive than an intelligent, good-looking man. and mikhail was exactly that. and also: ilias actual boyfriend. just the way mikhail would explain or show some things to ilia. oh. my. god.

"ew" elli almost yelled "why do need to do that all the time?" she continued whining as she looked at both of them. ilia smiled weakly before making his way to the kitchen, dropping his backpack on the counter. still watching both of them. well, he was fucked in the best way possible.

"he just loves me sooo much, he has to do it all the time" mikhail smiled, playfully tilting his head from side to side. making her giggle at the way he looked. "buut, i'm gonna have to give him some attention orrr" mikhail spoke, leaning closer as if he was telling her a secret "he will turn into a little diva" he then whispered. making elli giggle again.

"i'll be right back okay?" mikhail carefully put his hand on ellis back before getting up. watching for a second as she got back to her homework before following ilia into the kitchen.

"soo, how was today?" mikhail spoke softly, leaning against the kitchen counter. he just knew something was off. mikhail knew ilia hated going to university lately. how hard it was for him to get up in the morning and going to the one place he hated most at the moment.

"fine" ilia spoke while shrugging. he knew it wasn't fine. and mikhail also knew that this was far from fine. ilia just hated it. he hated how people were constantly whispering in the row behind him. or how they always stared at him when he was just walking on campus.

"what's wrong?" mikhail tried, almost whispering. his hands landing on ilias upper arms. his head slightly tilting. and oh. he was seriously worried about ilia.

sure, he has seen the worst sides of him. how mad he could get when things didn't go his way at practice. or how dissociated he seemed when he didn't even know how to explain what he was feeling. even how heartbroken he was after the olympics. or how proud he was after the worlds in prague. but it was never like this.

"nothing" ilia shrugged again, looking to the side towards elli for a second. still completely focused on her homework. "i'm just tired."

"ilia.." mikhail started another sentence, his thumbs carefully brushing over the fabric of ilias shirt "you can talk to me, you know that, right?" he switched to russian. his eyes wandered over ilias face. god. he couldn't even tell what he was thinking by looking at him. this was really bad.

“i’m okay.. i just-“ ilia stopped for a second, taking a deep breath in “i just need to study” he continued as he grabbed his backpack again. just swinging it over his shoulder again, placing a little kiss on mikhails head and.. leaving.

mikhail watched as ilia walked up the stairs. this was really really bad. mikhail sighed before going back to elli.

“what’s wrong with ilia?” she turned her head, looking up at mikhail. oh. mikhail thought for a second. she definitely wasn’t going to understand what was actually going on. not because she wasn’t smart - she was a very smart kid actually - but just because she was maybe a little too young for that.

“he’s just having a really bad day today” mikhail smiled a little as he squatted in front of her. he tilted his head a little. his eyes wandering to the piece of paper. just one task left to do. good enough for him.

“wanna make his day a little better?” he smiled at her, grabbing the pieces of paper and neatly placing them in her little notebook. she nodded hectically in response. making mikhail smile a little.

“alright, come on” he flashed her another little smile, holding is hand out. letting her pull him into the kitchen “snack plate?” mikhail tilted his head, his hands resting on his own hips.

“yes!” elli nodded again, jumping on one of the stools in front of the little kitchen island. resulting in mikhail looking through the fridge and grabbing some things from it. eventually placing them them on the counter before grabbing a cutting board.

“ilia doesn’t like carrots” elli then said, pointing at the two carrots that were lying next to the her own little cutting board.

“buut” mikhail smiled as he cut an apple into little slices “if you cut them into pretty little stars, he will looove them” he smiled, leaning forward. as if he was telling her another secret.

“i wanna do hearts” she then protested, looking at the little slices of carrot in front of her. mikhail huffed a little laugh. of course she wanted to do hearts.

“do you know how to do them?” mikhail asked as he placed the apple slices on a little plate, spreading them out like a little fan.

elli nodded in response, making the little slices into hearts. then helping mikhail putting them on the plate. carefully layering them on top of one another.

“wanna put some chocolate on it too?” mikhail then asked as he placed the last few slices of carrot on the plate. smiling as she jumped up, basically running to the little snack cabinet. grabbing a little bar of chocolate and running back to mikhail, handing it to him. mikhail just put the chocolate in the middle, then showing the plate to elli.

“good?” mikhail tilted the plate a little as he squatted down again. elli nodded in approval. “theen” he smiled as he placed the plate back on the counter “i’m gonna go check on him okay? and i think..” he put his finger to his lips, acting as if he was thinking dramatically “mysti and miu miu miss you” he pointed towards the two cats hanging out on the couch “i need you to take really good care of them until i get back okay?” mikhail then smiled, watching as elli nodded and just ran back towards the couch. she didn’t need to see her big brother like that anyway.

mikhail grabbed the plate from the counter, sighing before heading upstairs. oh. he was seriously worried. maybe he even was a little nervous too. he took another deep breath as he pushed the door to ilias room open. carefully stepping in and softly closing the door behind him.

ilia was just lying there. not even on his phone. and definitely not studying. just lying in his bed. cuddled up in his blanket. oh no. mikhail knew how much ilia hated going to university. not university itself, but just the people there. one might think, that all those people were a little more mature, if they went to university. or possessing any sense of emotional intelligence. guess not.

“hey” mikhail softly spoke, taking a few steps towards the bed “i wasn’t sure, if you wanted to eat something but elli insisted” he smiled as he sat down next to ilia on the bed. showing him the little plate in his hand. “i wanted to do stars, but elli wanted hearts sooo” he continued softly, pointing at the little heart shaped carrot slices on the plate. watching as ilia looked up at him, flashing him a weak smile.

“thank you” ilia shuffled around for a second, speaking softly. oh. his voice sounded a little strained. and so quiet too. mikhail was seriously the sweetest. and thank god that he was here. right next to him. just where ilia needed him to be. especially over the last couple of weeks.

mikhail placed the little plate on the nightstand. sighing as his hand landed in ilias hair. his thumb brushing over it for a second. and god. whoever was responsible for this? mikhail was gonna find them and kill them. ilia didn’t deserve any of this. mikhail couldn’t even understand how anybody could do this to him. what the actual fuck?

“come here” mikhail then spoke softly, climbing into the bed with ilia. pulling him into his chest, making sure he was tucked in neatly. his arms wrapped around ilias torso, placing a little kiss on his head.

ilia wrapped his arms around mikhail. just breathing him in. he shouldn’t even care about all those stupid things people were saying. but he felt like it was just too much. he was so far behind on all of his assignments due to the worlds and olympics. and the constant whispers on campus felt like they were just ringing in his head. constantly. and then he couldn’t even motivate himself to study. or even to get up and go to his classes. he just felt like he was constantly under pressure.

“do you wanna talk about it?” mikhails hand landed in ilias hair again, letting his blonde hair wrap around his fingers. he understood why ilia hated being here. of course, he loved it in some way. it was his home after all. but god. if only all those stupid people would just disappear.

“no” ilia shook his head against mikhails chest. his eyes landing on the little snack plate, making him smile a little. although, he wasn’t sure that those hearts were actually ellis idea. the chocolate was probably her idea though. it was just the cutest thing. and he sometimes just felt horrible for acting like this lately. he shouldn’t be destroying mikhails mood with the opinions of people that didn’t even know him.

but this was just everything. just mikhails arms around him. the way mikhail was playing with his hair. some kisses landing on his head every now and then. and god. he was just so good with elli too. and with the cats. and with his parents. just being there. and ilia would honestly be an idiot, if he didn’t end up marrying him.

“i’m so glad you’re here” ilia then spoke softly, grabbing onto mikhail a little tighter “and you’re soo good with elli too” he smiled a little “and i love you, misha” he then turned his head a little, his chin resting on mikhails chest.

and mikhail always looked so pretty too. how his hair always fell so perfectly into place. or how soft it was. how everything he wore always looked so good on him. although ilia preferred him wearing some of his shirts or hoodies over everything mikhail owned. or how mikhail always bit his bottom lip when he was concentrating. which was also kind of hot, not gonna lie.

“i love you too” mikhail softly smiled as he spoke, carefully brushing a little strand of hair out of ilias face. finally, he let his hair grow out again. he was incredibly gorgeous either way, but maybe mikhail had a little weakness for ilias longer hair. it just always looked so soft. like a little cloud on his head.

“but i sometimes think elli loves you more than me” ilia chuckled softly, tilting his head a little. well, considering how she was constantly nagging ilia, asking when mikhail would come visit again or if he could call him.. he probably wasn’t entirely wrong. or how she always yelled ‘misha’ through the entire house, if she needed something. just bursting into ilias room and trying to kidnap mikhail. cutest thing ever, sure. but still ilias boyfriend, not hers.

“i’m not the one she made heart shaped carrots for, am i?” mikhail chuckled a little. sure, elli loved him but that couldn’t even remotely compare to ilia. he was her older brother after all. maybe her very own little hero too.

“but she always kidnaps you” ilia spoke as his index finger traced the seam of mikhails shirt on his shoulder. chuckling a little at what mikhail said. he wasn’t completely wrong.

but she definitely had just great timing for kidnapping mikhail for something so small. like wanting to show him something she learned. or even just a drawing she made. of course, always when him and ilia were lying in bed. cuddling. kissing. maybe making out.

“you’re not jealous of your little sister, are you?” mikhail chuckled, his eyes widening in playful shock. of course he knew that ilia was a little jealous over elli sometimes just occupying mikhail. and he also had to admit, elli seriously had some hilariously immaculate timing with that.

“i am, in fact, NOT jealous of my little sister” ilia almost gasped at the audacity of mikhails suggestion. well, ilia had no defense here. because.. his boyfriend, not hers. ilia sat upright, facing mikhail as he sat on his lap. straddling mikhail.

“of course, you just looove it when she steals me” mikhail chuckled again. his hands carefully landing on ilias hips. he knew ilia was kind of possessive over him. and mikhail probably enjoyed that way more than he should.

ilia reached for a pillow, throwing it right into mikhails face. he crossed his arms in front of his chest, smirking a little as mikhail grabbed the pillow, throwing it back in its place. very obviously satisfied with his direct hit.

“well” mikhail smiled a little as his arms wrapped around ilias waist, flipping them around in one swift motion. making ilia gasp at the sudden action. “at least you” mikhail stopped for a second, hovering over ilias face “get to kiss me and she doesn’t” he smirked a little before leaning in.

ilia immediately wrapped his arms around mikhails neck, pulling him even closer. almost gasping at the way mikhails fingertips dug into his waist. ilias tongue swept over mikhails bottom lip before capturing it between his teeth, feeling how mikhail briefly pulled away.

“i uhm-“ mikhail then spoke softly, causing ilia to tilt his head slightly in confusion “might have promised elli we’d watch a movie with her” he chuckled a little. oh. he honestly kind of hated himself for that promise right about now.

“you’re not serious” ilia stared up at mikhail. somewhat in disbelief. oh hell no. he groaned as he let his head tip back. he cannot be for real right now. he. just. cannot. be. serious. right. now. nuh uh.

“we can cuddle a little downstairs..” mikhail stopped for a second, his fingertips tracing the little vein on the side of ilias neck “and we have plenty of time later” he then smiled suggestively. and ilia knew exactly what he meant.

“i am not letting you rail me when my parents are home and you know that” ilia groaned. yeah. he definitely wasn’t gonna do that. not again at least.

“why?” mikhail pouted. he knew why. but ugh. he also knew elli would just walk in on them again. AGAIN. and he honestly just wanted to touch him. properly.

“forgot what elli told my parents last time?” ilia half laughed, half scoffed at mikhails words “how we were constantly swearing? but only when we were in my room? alone?” he continued, raising his eyebrow at mikhail. nope. he would gladly pass on that one.

mikhail chuckled a little. of course he remembered that. and in all honesty? it was honestly somewhat hilarious. just how ilias mom almost spit half of her coffee out, shooting both of them that look.

“five more minutes” ilia then pouted, his hands slipping to mikhails neck. pulling him closer again. ugh. he just wanted to kiss him. make out with him. keep mikhail in this damned bed. with him. preferably with less clothing.

“mhm” mikhail hummed, slightly nodding as he leaned in again. they had five more minutes, right? they had to have five more minutes for this.

mikhails hands roamed over ilias upper body, one of them slipping underneath his hoodie. his tongue brushing over ilias bottom lip before very thoroughly exploring ilias mouth with it. letting it graze over his teeth every now and then. mikhail smiled a little into the kiss when ilia curled his fingers in mikhails hair, delicately pulling on it.

ilia smirked at mikhails little smile. letting his hands travel over his boyfriends upper body, slipping them swiftly under his shirt and pushing it up a little. his fingertips tracing the soft muscles on mikhails torso and lower back. a little gasp left his lips when mikhail formed a firm grip on his outer thigh. pulling ilia a little closer by it.

“we wanted to watch a movie” a voice almost yelled as the door to ilias room just swung open. ugh.

mikhails head dropped to ilias collarbone. just sighing at all of this. he turned his head slightly. great. elli. with her arms crossed in front of her chest. standing there as if she was waiting for a really good excuse as to why they were late for her promised movie night.

ilias head tipped back. also just sighing at all of this. he loved her, no question. but she really had the worst timing. always. every. single. time. especially now, when mikhails hand was still gripping onto ilias thigh.

“we’ll be right there okay?” mikhail turned his head, looking at her. “just ten minutes, okay?” he smiled, somewhat trying to catch his breath. god. he was just making out with his boyfriend. cut him some slack.

“ten minutes?!” ilia and elli both spoke in unison. both equally shocked at the suggestion. although, because of different reasons. mikhail turned his head towards ilia for a second. ilia raised his eyebrow. he knew damn well, that whatever they were about to do would not just take ten minutes.

mikhail sighed again, his hand dropping from ilias thigh. somehow hilarious how both of them were the exact same person, just different ages. but he really hated that right about now. well, he loved them but still. mikhail felt his arm being pulled from the side.

“i want to watch the movie” elli whined, simultaneously pulling on ilias and mikhails arms. mikhail sighed again, mouthing a little ‘sorry’ to ilia before letting himself be dragged away from him again. this just couldn’t be real. why did he promise that to her again?

“she’s a menace” ilia whispered as he got up, walking next to mikhail towards the stairs. she really was. he almost groaned while speaking.

“we still have more than enough time later” mikhail chuckled a little. carefully wrapping his arms around ilias shoulders for a second. pulling him a little closer and placing a small kiss on ilias temple “for a lot of cuddles and” mikhail smirked a little “kisses and all that.”

“you’re a menace too.”
