"This is ridiculous." Ivlis grumbled. Staring at the display in front of him.
The room was filled with flowers and soft music. It wasn't exactly a surprise who set this all up. The other devil made his approach with a grin. "Dance with me." He insisted, holding out a hand. There was no force, there never was. Ivlis took the other's hand and was pulled close. Satanick wrapped his arm around Ivlis' waist. The flame demon placed his hand on his shoulder. They fit perfectly. "This is ridiculous." He repeated. Complaining wasn't new, Satanick didn't mind it either. He was far too used to it after all this time.
"We need to practice, Ivlis." For what? They weren't getting married anytime soon. It was at least two years out before then but the more he complained the more annoyed he'd feel. So, instead, Ivlis settled for a comment rather than a complaint. "We haven't even graduated yet.. we're not getting married until after." Satanick let out a hum of acknowledgement as they continued to sway to the music within the living room.
A simple waltz they'd done for quite some time. Both were quite good at it.. but this was just another attempt at relaxing together before bed. "Are you really annoyed that were dancing?" Satanick chuckled. Bringing Ivlis close to his chest as they continued to sway. The demon didn't answer.. he did thinking this was a little ridiculous as he kept saying but he loved to spend time with his fiancé regardless. Not that he'd ever admit that.
As the song switches, both realize what had turned in. It was a song from their engagement. It had played in the background unintentionally. They claimed it as theirs.. Satanick said it was theirs at least. Ivlis didn't exactly care. He was still a little surprised from that night. He was even more surprised his father was okay with it ahead of time with how young they were. But the sly bastard had definitely proved himself worthy. The two had known each other since middle school and started dating by the end of it. In the past, Ivlis thought Satanick was weird. Insane.. all of the bad things he could muster out.
But now..
They were going into their senior year.
They had a son together.
They were getting married soon enough.
Of course teen pregnancy wasn't exactly on their list of plans. But they loved Licorice nonetheless. He was a chaotic little spitfire. "Mmm.. soon enough well get out of here.. and be doing this every night." They did plan to move out too.. Siralos was kind enough to let Satanick stay with them.. somehow. Fumus wasn't exactly a good roommate and his parents were always abroad only sending money over as a way to share their love. So staying here had always been the best. Even if it was just to help with the pregnancy in the beginning. Taking responsibility after all.
"I think our neighbors would hate us for the loud music." Ivlis sighed. Keeping his head on the other's chest. This was relaxing. The way they swayed without a single worry of mistake. This was second nature.. only taking in the melody around them as a form of relaxation. Satanick shrugged. He could careless what possible future neighbors would think about them and their habits.
They had time before they needed to even think about that. They let the silence fill the room besides for the music. Being turned away from the staircase and too focused on the melody around the room, Ivlis didn't see the small figure at the stairs balcony humming along. "I think we have an audience." Satanick chuckled.
Licorice sat at the top of the stairs hugging a purple bunny plush. One he'd been given by his father and was named "Mr. Bun-Bun." Quite typical for a kid. The young boy was only supposed to be a few months old.. and yet due to some confusing circumstances about devils.. and god relation.. he'd already grown to the size of a five year old.
That same five year old was humming along quietly. About to fall asleep to the soft song that had started to fade slowly.
His parents remained dancing until it was completely over. By the time it was fully cut out, Licorice had fallen asleep. Ivlis finally noticed and untangled himself from Satanick. "Our romance song and his bedtime song.." Ivlis mumbled. Attempting to make a joke as the two walked upstairs. Picking the small boy up to put him to bed for the second time that night.
Soft hums followed throughout as they put him into bed. Keeping the atmosphere soft by Satanick's soft hums and Ivlis' soft murmurs of goodnights. It was almost as if they were making music themselves whilst putting their son to bed.
That music seemed to follow them as they headed to their own room.
Even if the tune had stopped from downstairs.. that quiet hum remained until they both had fallen asleep.
Soft and gentle, just like the lives they'd longed to live since the distant past.
