Work Text:

The two jesters had been locked away, sealed behind a large stone door. There was no way out, they were going to be banished there for 1000 years.

Lukey had done this before, only this time he was less alone, plus it wasn’t as dark here, he could see himself living in here. Maybe.

He looked in his own hands, spotting something he hadn’t grabbed, a white shulker box. He opened it up viewing the contents.

One singular item.

‘Ticket to the null.’

Oh. Oh. Whoever gave this to him knew what they were doing. He stared at it for a second, silently, before speaking, looking his brother in his eye, “It’s okay.”

“What? What- what are you holding? Brother!” He heard Tubbo ask, he could almost feel the scared look in his brother’s eye.

Lukey only chuckled in response, handing the box over to the other colourful jester.

“What is this?”

“We have an out.” His voice was smooth, like the calm before the storm, as he continued to chuckle to himself.

“Tick-et to the n-ull.” Tubbo read off the paper laid so innocently in the box. “What does that mean, Lucas!”

The only answer he was met with was an airy laugh, that boarded on maniacal.

In a sudden, swift second, both of the boys teleported to a long, black, empty corridor. It was endless. Tubbo stared at Lukey with the biggest side eye ever.

“LUCAS! Where ARE WE?” He yelled, turning to face him, “Brother, I can’t take you anywhere.”

Lukey swallowed, only to dry his throat again with a laugh, “Welcome home, brother.”

Tubbo looked around, there wasn’t much to see. Anything to see, actually. It was just an empty corridor.

Over the years, Lukey had learned to navigate the null, navigate the endless halls. He’d buried memory lane with his past, he hadn’t been there since the end. He feared he couldn’t. Thinking about it evoked feelings he didn’t want to think about.

He looked at Tubbo, watching his head spin, trying to take in his lack of surroundings.

Both of the jesters visions darkened, and as everything around them began to reappear, a new figure was stood in-front of the duo.

A once hooded man, who had grew into his skin again,

“Newt!” Lucas smiled, taking 3 quick steps towards him and wrapping his arms around him.

“Hi Lukey,” Newt hugged him back, wrapping his arms around his back, “how was your ‘adventure’?”

“It was good.” He let go of him, stepping back, “I hope you don’t mind I brought Tubbo back with me.”

Tubbo awkwardly smiled and waved, “hi” he squeaked, he was so confused.

Where was he?

Who was Newt?

Why was he here?

How did he get here?

The questions flew around his brain, hitting his skull was they threatened to spill from his mouth, giving him a headache. The blackness surrounding him wasn’t helping that either.
