Work Text:
Chrollo knows something isn't right when wakes up feeling like he's floating on the steam that wafts up from a teacup.
He gasps, jolting upright and throwing himself forward as his eyes snap open. Frantically, he takes in the unfamiliar space, heart thundering in his chest. The bed he's woken up in is large and comfortable with perfectly white sheets. The room is dark but Chrollo’s eyes are adjusted enough to take it in. It's small, tidy space with furniture that doesn't look like it was dug out of a heap and a bookshelf that's overflowing with thick books.
It's the nicest place Chrollo’s ever been in - even cleaner than the church. It's frightening.
He takes a deep breath that shakes his entire body. His lungs are filled with clean air and a delicate, sweet scent. Chrollo lurches forward, needing to find out where he is, but he's caught by a pair of steady hands. Startled by the subtle presence, his wide eyes focus on the person who's holding his shoulders.
It's the prettiest girl Chrollo’s ever seen. Prettier than anyone in the magazines he's found while scavenging. Fear and confusion are suddenly competing with something else… Chrollo isn't too sure of the word but awestruck seems right.
The lady has shiny, gold hair that curves around her chin. She has creamy skin, a delicate nose, and pink lips that aren't chapped at all. Her most striking feature is her eyes. Although it's too dark to know for sure, they appear to be a shade of warm grey and framed by long, light eyelashes.
The woman's gaze is soft and full of concern. Concern for him? Chrollo feels crazy for even thinking that.
"You're okay, just breathe," the woman says softly.
Her voice is low and smooth. Chrollo takes another deep, shaky breath. The adults have always warned Chrollo that pretty ladies can be dangerous too. Although Chrollo tries to remember that, there's something about this one that makes the base of Chrollo's mind stall like a messed-up video tape.
"W-Where am I?" Chrollo asks, his voice cracking.
The woman's brow furrows.
"You don't recognize me?" She asks.
Chrollo shakes his head vigorously. He would definitely remember seeing a lady like this.
"What's the last thing you remember?"
Chrollo feels pinned by her gaze. He squeezes his hands together in his lap, feeling like he should tell her the truth… mostly.
"I was out collecting stuff and I was climbing a heap…"
The truth is that he was closer to the edge of Meteor City than he should have been. The adults always tell him to stay near the middle where it's safer but he finds lots of good stuff near the borders. Plus, the air is easier to breathe on the outskirts of Meteor City. He likes to steal the breeze that rolls in from the tree-line that's just outside the border. But he won't tell this lady that because he doesn't want to get in trouble. Even if she does seem really…
Well… maybe not nice but for some reason Chrollo likes her anyway.
"… and I slipped and I fell down. After that I dunno…" Chrollo finishes quietly.
"And how old are you?"
"…. Twelve."
"I see," The woman's eyes sharpen and she looks away, becoming more serious as she thinks about what Chrollo said.
The pretty lady gets quiet and closes her eyes, going deep into thought. The less she explains, the more Chrollo starts to get nervous again. Kids go missing from Meteor City all the time and Chrollo is starting to think he's next.
"Um. Can I go home, miss?" Chrollo asks.
The lady's eyes flutter open and she looks down at Chrollo in surprise. Then she sighs and lets go of Chrollo’s shoulder to stand up. The white teeshirt she's wearing is too big and it pools around her bare thighs. Chrollo can’t tell if she's wearing anything under it. He blushes and looks away respectfully.
"I'm sorry, this must be very confusing for you. I will do my best to explain." She says. "My name is Kurapika and I'm not a woman."
Chrollo ducks his head. "Oh. Sorry." He says shyly.
Mentally, he corrects himself. This is the prettiest boy he's ever seen.
"That's alright," Kurapika forgives him easily.
"I know you don't remember but we already know each other. I know you're Chrollo and your favorite book is DinoHunter. I know that you're a smart boy and you care a lot about your friends." Kurapika says.
As he speaks, his fondness for Chrollo deepens. Every word feels true. Chrollo swallows hard.
"So… So what's going on? Can I go home?" Chrollo asks again.
"I believe you've been… Well, that might not make sense to you…" Kurapika thinks a little more before he continues. "In a sense, you've been sent into the future."
Chrollo reels back, balking. He could not have imagined Kurapika would say that.
"What?" He squeaks.
Kurapika's lips twitch into a small smile. Chrollo can’t tell if he's being messed with.
"Ah, I'm sorry, I don't mean to laugh at you. I just didn't know you used to be so expressive…"
Kurapika steps away from the bed and grabs a framed picture off a wall. Since it's dark and the picture was across the room, Chrollo couldn't make out the details of it before. Kurapika brings the photo to the bed and hands it to Chrollo.
It's a picture of Kurapika with a man who has black hair and a tattoo on his forehead. There's something eerie about the man's face. Something that's too familar - like he could be Chrollo’s older brother by blood.
"That's you when you're older," Kurapika explains. "When you grow up, you leave Meteor City and we… we meet."
It sounds crazy but for some reason Chrollo wants to believe it. He traces the glass over the photo with his fingers, eyes lingering on the hand that's holding Kurapika’s waist. His hand. He looks back up at Kurapika.
"… What about my friends?" Chrollo asks.
Kurapika’s smile remains but there's something in the way his eyes waver that Chrollo can’t understand.
"… They left Meteor City with you. Right now they're off having their own adventures but you're never apart from them for too long. Sometimes you go back to Meteor City with them to help the people there."
The knot of anxiety in Chrollo’s chest slowly begins to loosen. It's just what he and the others have been hoping for. Their secret dream. A future where they can leave the world's dumpster and still be friends for life. A future where they have enough that they can share with the people from Chrollo’s home. It sounds amazing.
A hopeful smile blooms on Chrollo’s face and he hands the photo back to Kurapika. Kurapika places it on the bedside table and sits on the thick mattress next to Chrollo.
Maybe this is all a dream. But if it is, Chrollo really hopes it'll come true.
"So why am I here with you?" Chrollo asks.
"Well…" Even in the dark, Chrollo can make out the dusting of color on Kurapika’s delicate face. "… Because we're married."
Chrollo is stunned into silence. His face burns hotter and hotter as the words sink in. It explains why they're in a room alone together at night and why Kurapika isn't wearing that much… Still, leaving Meteor City is far easier for Chrollo to imagine than getting married. Especially to the prettiest person in the whole world. He looks up and down Kurapika’s body again from his pretty face to his bare legs that are folded up gracefully beneath him. Starring at people is rude, he's been told that a lot, but is it rude if they're married?
"I'm sure you're feeling overwhelmed right now," Kurapika scoots closer and slowly drapes his arms around Chrollo’s shoulders.
Now Chrollo knows that faintly sweet smell in the air is Kurapika. He's so warm and although he makes Chrollo’s insides feel squirmy he can't help but want to lean into the hug. His hands move on their own, as they so often do, with the urge to take. He grabs the front of Kurapika's shirt to hold onto him. He must've married Kurapika because of this unexplainable need to keep him like a treasure.
"It'll be alright. Things will go back to normal soon… Although I'm in no rush. You're much cuter like this." Kurapika teases him a little, rubbing Chrollo’s upper back.
Chrollo burrows deeper into Kurapika’s arms and decides he isn't in as much of a rush to go home as he was before. He presses closer to Kurapika, seeking out even more warmth and affection. As he presses into Kurapika’s soft chest, he feels a damp spot in the fabric of his shirt and goes still. Kurapika’s chest is different from the other men Chrollo’s met…
"Ah, sorry. That started happening recently."
Kurapika combs his fingers though Chrollo's hair. He shudders at the light scratching over his scalp.
"It's because we're having a baby."
Chrollo pulls back enough to see the wet spots on Kurapika’s shirt over his nipples. He's seen women nursing babies a few times so he knows what it is but the news leaves him dazed. He knows that it's a responsibility for the Chrollo in the future, not him as he is now, but it's staggering to think about.
"I think I'm dreaming…" Chrollo murmurs.
Kurapika strokes down the side of his face.
"That's alright. Do you want to see?"
Chrollo nods. Even if it's all too much he wants to see. Kurapika lifts the bottom of his oversized shirt, revealing his cotton underwear and the slight swell in his stomach. He takes one of Chrollo's hand and brings it in close, letting him touch the little bump.
"I'm not showing that much yet but…"
Chrollo cups his hand over the soft skin. He touches it gently, amazed that there's a baby growing inside. His baby. And this place - this clean, comfortable room where Chrollo doesn't feel hungry or thirsty. This is the right sort of place for a baby to be.
Kurapika’s thumb swipes across Chrollo’s cheek, wiping away a tear he didn't know was falling.
"Are you alright?" Kurapika asks.
Chrollo swallows and nods. "I think so… I'm happy."
Kurapika cups Chrollo's face, tilting it up to look directly at him.
"The grown up version of you reacted the same way."
Kurapika leans in to kiss Chrollo’s forehead right below his widows peak. Chrollo sniffles to stop crying and smiles, looking up at Kurapika with stars in his eyes.
"I can't wait to grow up again and meet you. I hope I remember you when I go back. I love you already."
Kurapika wavers, looking uncertain about something as he averts his gaze.
"Ah… I'm not sure…"
Chrollo doesn't understand what's wrong but since he's Kurapika’s husband he should try to make it right. And, as Kurapika's husband, he should be allowed to kiss him. Chrollo lifts up onto his knees and leans in but as he gets closer to Kurapika’s lips he feels shy all over again. He plants a kiss on Kurapika’s cheek instead, just outside Kurapika’s frown.
Kurapika’s expression changes from troubled to surprised. Then he smiles again, his eyes warming so much that there's a faint glow like embers burning low. Chrollo’s eyes widen as he stares into Kurapika’s. Although there are many things happening that Chrollo wouldn't have imagined when he was awake, more than ever it seems like this is a dream.
"Your eyes…"
Kurapika chuckles and shakes his head fondly.
"You manage to make them glow every day," Kurapika's eyes get even brighter as he thinks about Chrollo when he's grown up.
There's no mistaking it as a trick of the light now. Kurapika's eyes are definitely glowing red and getting brighter by the second.
"My people's eyes turn scarlet when we're experiencing strong emotions."
Chrollo nods, his mouth hanging open. He's never heard of anything like that but he'll make sure to remember it. Scarlet eyes. Chrollo’s going to marry someone with beautiful, magic, red eyes.
"They’re the prettiest color in the world!" Chrollo exclaims, his smile lighting up.
Leaning in closer, he can see so much variation in them. Shades of deep, dark red and flecks of pink. They're amazing.
"Do you think…" Chrollo glances down Kurapika’s body and blushes again. "Do you think our baby is going to have eyes like yours?"
Kurapika’s fingers comb through Chrollo’s hair again.
"… I think so. I think they'll look a lot like you too."
Chrollo frowns. He thinks it'd be better if their baby looked more like Kurapika but he's going to love them a lot anyway.
"What? You don't think you're cute enough?"
Kurapika suddenly scoops Chrollo into his lap to cradle Chrollo against his chest. Then, Kurapika surprises Chrollo with a chaste kiss on the lips. It's not his first kiss, technically, but it feels like a first kiss with the way it gives him butterflies. When Kurapika pulls away, Chrollo’s eyes linger on his damp, soft mouth.
"It's almost breakfast time. I'm sure you'd like a proper meal, wouldn't you?"
Chrollo nods because he never says no to a meal but he can't take his eyes off Kurapika’s lips. He can still feel the imprint of them.
Kurapika gets off the bed and Chrollo follows him to the kitchen. Normally, he'd be more amazed by their comfortable living accommodations, but he can't stop looking from Kurapika’s bare thighs, his backside, and his golden hair. Even his feet look soft and clean - not worn down by days spent climbing over rusty trash. He watches Kurapika cook and salivates over the perfect person he's somehow got all to himself.
While something warm and fragrant simmers on the stove, Kurapika looks back over his shoulder, catching Chrollo staring. Chrollo flushes and tugs his shirt down to hide the front of his shorts.
"Um… I was just wondering…"
Chrollo tries to think of an excuse quickly.
"How old are you?" Chrollo asks.
Kurapika is grown up but stil looks young. Then again, the people in Meteor City always look older than the people in magazines that are supposed to be the same age as them.
"I'm eighteen," Kurapika replies.
Chrollo counts in his head quickly.
"I'm going to be a dad in six years??"
That doesn’t sound right. Six years is a going to be a long time to wait to be with Kurapika again, but it doesn't feel like enough time to leave Meteor City and go on a bunch of adventures with his friends first like Kurapika said he did.
Kurapika laughs and shakes his head. He reaches up to get bowls from the cabinets, flashing his underwear to Chrollo carelessly.
"No, the you who got me pregnant is twenty-eight."
Chrollo goes quiet. That's a bigger age difference than he has with Kurapika right now. Something about that seems… But, if they're really in love, it must be okay.
Before Chrollo can dwell on it for too long, Kurapika’s putting a warm bowl of porridge in his hands.
"Go sit at the table. I'll be right there," Kurapika’s pats Chrollo’s hair affectionately.
The litte table nearby is just big enough for the two of them. Even though they're married and closer in age now then they were when they got married… or will get married… Kurapika is treating him like a kid. Chrollo doesn't mind that much though. He takes a seat and waits politely. Kurapika sits next to Chrollo close enough to feel the warmth between them. Chrollo still isn't very hungry, which is strange, but he eagerly takes a bite anyway and perks up at the taste.
It's a flavor he's never experienced before. Plain porridge is a good meal in Chrollo’s experience but there's some sort of spice to this he's never had before.
"This is amazing!"
Chrollo looks between the food and Kurapika with stars in his eyes. Once again, Chrollo feels that something this good should only be a dream, but he doesn't think he could imagine brand new tastes like this. Somehow, he ended up with someone who's beautiful and has a lot of books and makes good food. It's going to be so hard not to brag about Kurapika to his friends when he goes home because they're never going to believe it.
Kurapika laughs and he's so lovely when he smiles.
"I'm just alright at cooking. You don't know any better - but thank you anyway."
Chrollo is going to protest but then Kurapika leans down and presses another tender kiss to the top of his head. Whatever Chrollo was going to say gets stuck in his throat and his face gets hot enough for his thoughts to steam away. This feels like a whole lot of kissing.
He turns back to his bowl to keep eating, still intent on showing Kurapika how much he likes it. He gratefully eats every bite then convinces Kurapika to let him do the dishes. Kurapika might not be that far along yet but Chrollo is still his husband. It's only right.
Kurapika stays sitting at the table, sipping tea as he watches Chrollo figure out the sink with only a little instruction. As Chrollo sets each dish in the rack to dry, he can't help but glance over his shoulder to steal glimpses of Kurapika relaxing and rubbing circles over his stomach. If he remembers this when he goes back in time maybe he can get with Kurapika even sooner. Then again, Kurapika would be younger too… but this is a good life and if they're in love it should be fine. They're going to get married and have babies anyway so why not start a few years earlier?
Once Chrollo has finished washing up, they go back to their bedroom. Rays of morning sun have just started to color the sky, but if Kurapika wants to go back to bed, Chrollo won't argue. He doesn't know how much longer he'll get to be in the future so he wants to enjoy it as much as possible.
Kurapika lounges in bed, propped up by the fluffy pillows. Chrollo sits across from him, cross-legged to see what Kurapika wants to do next. Without any warning, Kurapika pulls off his stained shirt, exposing his swollen breasts and belly-bump.
"Even though you're grown up, sometimes you help me out with this." Kurapika says.
His perky nipples are glistening with milk and Chrollo starts salivating like a dog. To his horror, he immediately gets erect at the sight. He presses his hands to his lap to try and hide it and push it down. That's started happening recently. Of course it would happen around Kuarpika, but Chrollo still wishes it didn't. He doesn't want to be disrespectful to his future wife.
"Ah, poor thing. I've been teasing my little husband too much."
Kurapika’s gentle hand cups Chrollo's flushed cheek and he slowly guides Chrollo even closer. Chrollo tries to keep his eyes averted respectfully but they keep drifting back to Kurapika’s body. Even so, he's surprised when the soft skin of Kurapika’s nipple touches his lips.
Chrollo freezes. He doesn't know what to do with himself but Kurapika urges his lips apart with a gentle thumb.
"It's alright. I know you'll like this."
Kurapika’s steady hand on the back of Chrollo’s head, his soft and comforting scent, and his reassuring voice make him relax. It's soothing in the way Chrollo always imagined mothers would be from the myths shared about them in Meteor City. It's like a magic spell settles a heavy blanket over Chrollo’s mind and then Kurapika’s nipple is on his tongue, spreading a drop of milky sweetness over his taste buds. After a few tentative licks, Chrollo starts to suckle like he knows he's meant to.
Chrollo really liked the food Kurapika made for him, but this is something totally different. It's special. He's never tasted anything so good in his life and knowing it's meant for Kurapika’s baby makes Chrollo want to take that role for himself. Blunt nails comb through Chrollo’s hair, sending soothing tingles through his scalp that warm his mind. He knows Kurapika is his wife but he wants Kurapika to be his mother too. Just for a little longer.
Kurapika curls around over top of Chrollo, resting his cheek against his hair.
"That's it. Good boy, you can have as much as you want…" Kurapika whispers, rocking them slowly. "So cute, my baby…"
Kurapika slowly shifts to lay on his side, keeping Chrollo against him the whole time. He pulls up the puffy, white comforter, covering Chrollo with it so he's encased in soft heat and Kurapika's scent. He moans softly into Kurapika’s chest, getting harder, and unconciously shifts against Kurapika’s leg for a bit of friction.
"…. I always wanted a baby when I was little. But when I got older and I started… going on adventures, I told myself I didn't want them anymore. That I was too busy." Kurapika confesses softly, patting Chrollo's head over the blankets.
"But on one adventure, I was protecting a woman and her baby girl. She let me hold her daughter and all of those feelings I had locked away came rushing back."
He holds Chrollo tighter, squeezing him to his chest.
"You were nearby on an adventure of your own. We had met before and for some reason, you wanted me to have a baby too."
Chrollo can tell there's a lot missing from the story, but the main points make his insides feel warm and gooey. Eventually, the flow of Kurapika's milk slows, but Chrollo doesn't pull away. He clings to Kurapika’s waist with his face tucked into Kurapika’s chest.
Although he wants to stay like this longer, Kurapika tugs down the comforter to expose Chrollo’s head.
Kurapika rolls onto his back and Chrollo pushes himself up to watch him adjust. Kurapika moves his legs onto either side of Chrollo, his feet pressing into the bedding. For some reason, they keep drawing Chrollo’s eye. He's never thought that anyone's feet were pretty before but everything about Kurapika is just… so pretty.
Kurapika takes Chrollo’s wrist, pulling his hand up to expose Chrollo’s aching erection. Before Chrollo can stutter out an apology, Kurapika is cooing reassurances over him.
"It's okay, you've already gotten me pregnant." Kurapika whispers, guiding Chrollo in between his legs.
Chrollo braces his free hand against the mattress, his flickering eyes unable to settle on just one part of Kurapika’s body while his brain struggles to process the moment. Kurapika's underwear disappears into the waves of comforter, exposing Kurapika’s pubic mound. Conceptually, Chrollo knows what that is and he knows why Kurapika’s thighs are enveloping his hips. Even so, he doesn't know how to handle the heat and softness engulf his senses as Kurapika takes him inside.
Chrollo whimpers and hugs Kurapika tight for support, already finding comfort in his wife's embrace. Without even understanding what he's doing, Chrollo's hips twitch, moving inside Kurapika as much as possible for his immature size. Kurapika strokes his hair and speaks into the crown of his head.
"That's it, you're a good boy, my good boy."
The praise siezes Chrollo’s brain
"You can do this with mommy as much as you want."
Chrollo can barely hang on to the end of his sentence before he's cumming inside in thin, watery spurts.
"I'm sorry!" Chrollo gasps, apologizing for making a mess in Kurapika so soon. He buries his face into the now familair comfort of his Kurapika's chest
"It's alright. You're still learning," Kurapika replies.
Chrollo sits back to look down at his disheveled wife. Beneath the swell of his pregnancy his pussy is wet with a mix of his slick and a Chrollo's cum clumping in the blond hair. Kurapika parts the puffy exterior, showing Chrollo his inviting hole. Then, Kurapika dips two fingers inside and pumps them slowly. It gets even wetter, squelching and dripping out around his fingers.
"C-can I keep touching you?" Chrollo asks, already feeling warm again.
Kurapika nods and Chrollo takes hold of Kurapika’s breasts, squeezing them gently. A bit more milk beads on his perky nipples and Kurapika moans, arching into Chrollo’s hands. Kurapika said he could have all he likes so… Chrollo laps at the drops then latches on to suck. As he mouths at Kurapika's nipples, he lowers his hands to feel his stomach again.
Chrollo's never had so much before. So much comfort, sweetness, attention, and pleasure all just for him.
This is mine… Kurapika is mine, all mine…
Beneath him, Kurapika's body tenses with a high pitched moan. His legs twitch as a flood of pleasure rushes out between his legs. With his voice dripping in desire, Kurapika whispers Chrollo’s name. His fingers coax wet sounds from his pussy as he enjoys his orgasm with Chrollo’s diligently sucking on his heaving chest to drink his milk.
Hidden between their bodies, Chrollo feels and hears when Kurapika pulls his fingers out. Unlatching from Kurapika’s swollen nipple, Chrollo looks down to see a glossy thread connecting Kurapika’s fingers to his pussy. It snaps in a second but the sight of it makes Chrollo start salivating again. This time he doesn't know why he wants to taste that… but for some reason he's sure it'll taste really, really good.
"… Sent into the future?" Chrollo muses, playing with a strand of Kurapika’s hair.
Once the sun climbed into the sky, the effects of that nen ability Chrollo was experimenting with - Idunn Smoke - wore off. Kurapika hasn't looked at Chrollo since he got his adult body back.
"I thought it would be easier for you to believe." Kurapika mutters his justification. "I don't know how I could have convinced you that you were actually pushing thirty and had clumsily de-aged yourself."
Chrollo chuckles. The story Kurapika came up with is crazier to him than the truth… but that's only because of what Chrollo knows now. What Chrollo would have once called magic is not abstract to him anymore. The story that Kurapika told does sound more like a storybook trope that Chrollo would have read in fantasy novels than a plausible nen ability.
"I suppose so. Either way, you certainly spoiled me."
Kurapika bats Chrollo’s hand away, his cheeks and eyes bright red.
"… I wish you hadn't kept your memories." Kurapika snaps, glowing with embarrassment.
"I'm glad I did. Isn't it easier on your conscience for you to know that, with my brain fully developed, I approve of you-"
Kurapika buries his face in his hands and drops onto his side, curling into himself.
"Shut it," Kurapika hisses. "You were cuter when you were too shy to tease me."
Since there really isn't a need to say it, Chrollo lets it go. Naturally, Kurapika has permission to enjoy his husband, regardless of what social conventions may accept. Chrollo lays with Kurapika, draping an arm over his waist.
"It's a good memory for me." Chrollo says simply.
Kurapika sighs and lifts his head, looking towards the window where the peaceful day marches on, indifferent to what happens between them.
"… I'm sure… but don't you dare let that smoke touch me." Kurapika says.
Chrollo stares at the back of Kurapika's head, unblinking. Immediately, he imagines Kurapika being even smaller and cuter. A precocious child with even less emotional regulation.
"I mean it," Kurapika snaps because Chrollo has been staring silently for too long.
"… How old were you when you learned the common language?" Chrollo can’t resist asking.
It's very possible that he could get to play with a version of Kurapika from before he learned to communicate with Chrollo entirely. A version of Kurapika who can only speak in his dead tongue and when he does learn Chrollo’s name he'll say it with such a thick accent… Chrollo hardens against Kurapika’s lower back just thinking about it.
Kurapika reaches back to smack Chrollo’s thighs sharply but that doesn't do much to quell his arousal.
"No, Chrollo, I'm serious." Kurapika reprimands him sharply rather than answer the question. "We don't know what would happen with my pregnancy."
With a little luck, Kurapika would stay the same amount of pregnant in his de-aged state, but it's true that neither of them knows for sure.
Chrollo sighs and rests his chin on Kurapika.
"You're right. Don't worry, I won't test it on you." Chrollo promises.
"You're a menace."
