Work Text:

#1. Attic

They were in Kimi’s attic searching for his old karting helmet when Ollie realized much too late that being stuck shoulder-to-shoulder with Kimi felt dangerously like his favorite place to be.

#2. Bruise

Kimi frowned when he spotted the faint bruises on Ollie’s shoulders, muttering about the car being too small while his fingers hovered like he wanted to apologize for something that had never been his fault.

#3. Caught

Ollie was mid-stare when Kimi glanced up and met his eyes, and the shared pause that followed felt louder than any teasing could have been.

#4. Detour

What should have been a straight walk back turned into wandering streets and half-finished stories, both of them pretending they didn’t notice how neither suggested turning around.

#5. Extent

It hit Kimi when Ollie didn’t answer his messages for an hour and he found himself checking his phone over and over, pacing like he’d misplaced something vital.

#6. Fall

Ollie tripped, took Kimi down with him, and spent the next five minutes laughing on the floor while slowly realizing that falling with Kimi was becoming a recurring problem.

#7. Game

What started as a harmless game somehow escalated into keeping score on everything—lap times, Mario Kart, who stole more fries—until George glanced at them once, shook his head, and muttered something about “children,” which only made them more determined to win.

#8. Height

Kimi complained nonstop about Ollie being unfairly tall until he discovered the strategic advantage of dragging him down by the hoodie strings whenever he needed to make a point.

#9. Influence

Somehow Ollie alone would never think about stealing his trainer’s credit card, but put him next to Kimi for ten minutes and suddenly they were buying things with it.

#10. Jealous

From Gabi’s perspective, Kimi glaring every time Ollie laughed with someone else was less threatening and more funny, like a cat convinced it owned a human who hadn’t noticed yet.

#11. Kick

Kimi kicked Ollie’s shin under the table to shut him up mid-sentence, and Ollie kicked back on instinct, both of them grinning like this was a completely normal way to communicate.

#12. Lasagna

Kimi announced he was making dinner like it was a sacred ritual, then hovered anxiously as Ollie ate, clearly judging him on whether he appreciated the dish enough.

#13. Misstep

“I’m not jealous,” Kimi said immediately and far too loudly, and Ollie, blinking, replied, “I didn’t even ask?” which somehow made everything ten times worse.

#14. Nudge

Kimi nudged Ollie to get his attention, nudged him again when he didn’t respond fast enough, and then complained loudly about being ignored while Ollie stared at him like this was exactly why he was smiling.

#15. Overhead

They were arguing about something stupid when footsteps sounded overhead, and both of them immediately straightened up like they’d been caught doing something far more suspicious than bickering.

#16. Pause

Ollie opened his mouth to say something dumb, paused halfway through, and blurted out, “Actually never mind,” which somehow made Kimi look at him like he’d almost said something important.

#17. Quiet

The quiet between them wasn’t awkward at all, just Ollie scrolling on his phone while Kimi leaned against him, both of them pretending this closeness hadn’t quietly become routine.

#18. Reckless

Ollie kissed Kimi’s cheek without thinking, laughed nervously at his own boldness, and then froze when Kimi smiled back like it was exactly what he’d been hoping for.

#19. Snitch

Kimi loudly announced Ollie’s terrible sleeping habits in front of everyone, then immediately shut up when Ollie leaned in close and murmured, “You’re sleeping next to me tonight, traitor.”

#20. Trivial

It was something completely trivial—sharing one pair of earbuds, knees bumping—but Ollie felt oddly aware that he’d remembered this more clearly than most important things.

#21. Uncertainty

They hovered in that uncertain space where everything felt charged; glances that lasted too long, hands that brushed way too often, and yet neither were quite brave enough to ask the obvious question.

#22. Verdict

When he watched Ollie laugh with his whole body, Kimi decided then and there that whatever this feeling was, he didn’t want it to go anywhere else.

#23. Wonder

Ollie watched Kimi talk animatedly about nothing in particular and wondered, not for the first time, how someone could feel so familiar and still surprise him every single day.

#24. X-mas

By Christmas, it was no longer a question—one blanket, shared gifts, Kimi stealing Ollie’s hoodie again, and Ollie kissing his temple like this was simply how things were now.

#25. Youth

They joked about being young and stupid and reckless, never quite acknowledging how lucky they were to be figuring it all out together.

#26. Zap

Even then, even settled and sure, Kimi reaching for Ollie’s hand still sent that sharp little jolt through him, like falling in love wasn’t a one-time event.
