Truly, Deeply, Loving You My Whole Life Long
Truly Deeply Loving You My Whole Life Long Recap:
- Elphaba kisses Galinda during what is this feeling and they have “hate sex”
- Galinda has gay panic about it
- They continue to connect in private, but Glinda’s friends push her towards Fiyero when he arrives
- Galinda instead realizes she’s a lesbian and takes Elphaba to the Ozdust for their first date, where they announce it to everyone by kissing on the dancefloor
- Determined to make up for her poor treatment of Elphaba, Galinda stands up to the soldiers and helps Elphaba rescue the lion cub
- During this, Elphaba realizes that Galinda has magic
- Elphaba helps Galinda to tap into her magic through the power of a *praise kink*
- The girls continue to work on their magic, quickly learning that they have different strengths
- Elphaba excels at raw power, creation, and destruction
- Galinda struggles with those but has a great talent for transformation magic
- The girls visit both homes for winter break, where we learn that Galinda’s housekeeper as a child was a puma named Tsuga, who is now missing
- Elphaba threatens Boq’s life for being shitty to her sister, and he commits to being better
- They grow closer to Fiyero, discovering he is a wonderful friend
- Fiyero starts dating a boy named Fenian
- Elphaba and Galinda befriend some members of the Animal band at the Ozdust, hoping to find Dr. Dillamond and Tsuga
- Rola, the leader, is a Sugar Glider
- Kiarn is a chicken
- Catu is a secretary bird
- When asked how Dr. Dillamond would possibly know that he could trust them, Galinda tells them to call her “Glinda” instead, insisting that will let him know that she is trustworthy now
- Glinda struggles with creation spells, but learns that she can create connections to objects, animating one of their senses and linking it to her own
- The girls use this for many spicy shenanigans
- Morrible is deeply interested in this ability, and has Glinda show her ad nauseam how she does it, particularly how she can connect objects to her hearing even from afar.
- She continues to berate Glinda, often showing clear disdain for how much Glinda has changed in Elphaba, particularly her social skills. Glinda grows suspicious, but tries to brush it off
- The gang learns that Animals need escorts to travel safely, so they take Rola, Catu, and Kiarn to the river one day, giving Rola a chance to speak with a Beaver who has been involved in the resistance
- The day is beautiful, unseasonably and unexpectedly warm
- The Beaver, Castor, has no news on Dr. Dillamond or Tsuga, but does offer Rola an escape path for the Ozdust band
- Rola tells Glinda that part of being popular is being a leader, and Glinda considers her role in stepping up for her friends
- Elphaba creates a magical transforming hair clip for Glinda for her birthday. When she spins the jeweled flower, it turns into her very own magic wand
- The Ozdust is raided by soldiers, none of the Animal band members anywhere to be found by the time the gang gets there.
- When they visit the Wizard, Elphaba casts the spell on the Monkeys, but it is Glinda who realizes that the Wizard is to blame for all the Animal Laws. Elphaba then figures out that he is powerless
- Glinda is able to talk the Wizard and Morrible into giving them a moment to discuss the offer to stay in the city, and the girls manage to steal the Grimmerie on the way out
- Glinda casts one of her listening spells, hearing the Wizard and Morrible talk about using her to keep Elphaba in line and making sure Oz knows not to trust Elphaba ever again
- The girls flee, making their way through the castle. Glinda turns a Monkey pink
- Along the way, Glinda finds that Morrible has cast her connection spell on objects all throughout the palace, no doubt listening in on everything all the time
- Morrible begins to announce to Oz about the Wicked Witch, nearly sending Elphaba into a tailspin
- When they reach the balloon, Elphaba lends Glinda her magic for the first time, giving the blonde enough power to explode the roof, letting them escape
- With the Monkeys still following them, Elphaba decides to lean into the Witch accusations, using her magic to create and enchant a broom to fly, using it to get the Monkeys off their trail
- They escape in the balloon, moving west. No plan, no supplies, no help. Glinda ends the story with one final line:
- “We’re together. We can figure everything else out later.”
