Work Text:
The king's assistant is looking absently out of the window of the dining hall, from which he has seen a few seasons pass by. Every day, when the sun reaches its zenith, everyone gathers together to have lunch, same goes for supper; the same ritual, over and over again, accompanied by background chit-chat, while the trees outside observe quietly as the guests' forks hit the plates.
Almost everyone has got up at this point, and the few who were still sat began to leave as well; a country was still in the making after all, not a task one can postpone just to nap after a rich feast.
"Your Royal Highness, are we ready to get going?"
Laios is caught with his mouth open, moving his eyes only to look at his consultant, fork interrupted on the way to his parted lips
"I told you not to call me that.."
his cheeks are rosy as he speaks, evidently embarrassed by the excessively formal title. He barely wanted to accept this position, let alone be called fancy names. He was still the same Laios of a few months ago, why would that change?
"I know. I was just messing with you"
Kabru throws his head back on the chair, his deep blue eyes keep wandering on the ceiling, as if deep in thought.
"it seems like you still don't get me"
he adds, without looking back down
"I just.. I don't know, I'm sorry Kabru. I really don't mean... Can I just eat this?"
Laios looks back to the fork middair, on which sits a generous portion of cake, blueberries and warm sauce dripping slowly back on the plate
"what.. You're still eating? No- no leave it, you're going to get sleepy otherwise, we have a meeting to attend, remember?"
the man slightly lowers the fork, just to take it back to his lips again
"it won't hurt, don't worry, I know what I'm doing! And look at this.. It'd be a shame to not eat it"
"you asked me, and I said no- Hey! I said no, put it down-"
Kabru takes him firmly by the wrist, interrupting his movement once again.
"do you ever listen?"
Laios has a surprised look on his face, his eyes bigger than usual, almost begging
"is.. Something the matter? You're not usually so..hot headed, if you will"
he tilts his head, like a big puppy trying to read its owner's eyes.
"I-... So you do notice things when you want to.. You're insufferable, Laios"
his tan fingers crawl up the other's man hand, elegantly taking the utensil held between his digits.
"I swear I don't know what you're talking about-"
The fork, interrupted many times now, goes straight to Kabru's own mouth in a swift motion, and the cake disappears quickly down his throat.
".... Wait! That one was mine- why did you do that??"
with each passing moment Laios gets more confused. The kind, curious man he ought Kabru to be had become an unintelligible individual during the time they spent together.
"'Cause you're insufferable, I told you. I deserve a treat from time to time"
he finally let's the fork down, resting on an empty plate, and gets up from his seat.
"do you want some still?"
Kabru is still speaking when he positions himself on Laios' lap, heightening both is embarrassment and utter confusion. The lean man locks his arms around the other's neck, cat's eyes fixated on his. Laios could swears to be earing him purr as he leans in.
"I thought you didn't want me to eat anymore..."
"you think a lot of things. Some are right, most are wrong. You should really be doing better after all these months. Being the king hasn't taught you anything useful outside of the council room?"
he carefully strokes his nape, soft golden hair contrasting nicely with his skin when it pokes from between his fingers. Laios let's his head back a bit, lowering his eyelids, flattered by the expert touch of the other man. The same hand goes on with its exploration, crawling under his robes and stroking the warm skin hidden under layered clothes; this isn't exactly new, even though Laios can't really recall how exactly did they end up in this unclear situation.
He gets quickly brought back to reality when Kabru locks his jaw between his fingers, digging his digits through his cheeks and forcing him to slightly open his mouth
"Let me see... Maybe I shouldn't have offered to give back that cake, I swear you'll rot all your teeth away if you keep going on like this...." the man keeps turning the other's head unceremoniously, inspecting his molars "do you know how important it is to have a good set of teeth for a man in your position? It tells everything about your health, we don't want anyone to think you're unfit for the role.... Or that you don't have any self control."
as the last words get muttered with a hint of sarcasm, Kabru slides his slender fingers inside Laios' mouth. Carefully, he feels the smooth enamel and the sharp tips, only to slightly pinch the tongue between his digits with an unbothered look on his face;
"Kahh...bhu...?"
unlike Laios, whose drool is beginning to pool at the bottom of his mouth, a flustered expression twisting his features
"what....?"
at this point, Kabru can't really help himself thinking about how much he looks like a lost puppy.
"I was just making a point, it's not that serious"
a sigh follows the retreat of the hand, swiftly dried on the king's silk jacket
"Kabru... I'm afraid that I really can't read you..."
Laios' tone is serious this time, and slightly defeated; definitely unusual from him, and absolutely sincere.
"...you don't have to"
Kabru's piercing gaze digs through the other's insecurities as if they were made of brittle sand
"just listen to me, and we'll manage everything"
as he speaks he quickly closes their distance, making their lips finally meet unapologetically. The sweet aroma of blueberries still lingers on both their tongues, making it even more difficult to part, their taste slightly addictive, just like pure sugar. Short breaths warm their wet lips; Hunger. A dark pit, deeper, so much deeper than the stomach, urging to swallow everything. And so, hands follow that trail in hopes to get satiated. And so do lips, tongues, teeth, interlocked legs; until tan fingers are unbottoning golden disks expertly sewn on elegant trousers, a kind of impractical indulgence that Laios hoped to never wear again when fleeing from his father's house. It's not long until those same fingers, ever so delicate, forged by years of well-rounded education ranging from sword to pen, are caressing his length. Slowly, unlike their hurried kisses, and accompanied only by the sound of shallow breaths; Kabru works is way from base to tip, indulging in the only vice that actively interests him: studying the only man he can't really understand yet. Laios, honest to the point of naivety, and yet so unintelligible; just like he appeared to him, apparently. There was no hiding in these brief moments they shared, and the Hunger of the mind could be satisfied by observing the most candid of all reactions. Soft moans leaving Laios' lips, parted, slightly swollen, so attractive that Kabru feared he would one day tear them right off his face. No words were needed to know that the other thought the exact same thing. Nothing could compare to this kind of Hunger, not gluttony, and yet not just lust; but the very desire to consume the other, to merge into something new and indiscernible to everyone else's eyes.
With much less care Kabru unbottons his own pants, letting their hips meet where garments are out of the way; both members, erect and oozing steadily, gift a short sense of relief when stroked together- by Kabru's skilled hands at first, and then by Laios, whose fist can wrap them both with ease. Even if it embarrassed him a little to admit it, it was hard for Kabru to not lose himself against those calloused palms, the only part of his brain still connected to his consciousness imagining to be a tool in the other's hand; the sword he cherished so deeply maybe.
When precum coated both of their lengths until they could slide away with ease, and just a moment before one of them, or probably both, could release themselves before even getting to the main course, Kabru lifted his hips, eliciting an audible gulp down into Laios' throat. The younger man showed no shyness for his state of undress, and well, distress, for pearly sweat slowly dripped from his forehead- adjusting and positioning Laios right at his entrance. Meanwhile the king looked hot and bothered under him, almost melting into the chair, reduced to a pool of sweat and heavy panting. Nothing else was so overwhelming, yet so incredibly fulfilling as this, probably more addictive than that sugar- the sweet and tainting wait for satisfaction.
As he lowered himself, opening, stretching, to accommodate the other's notable girth, a long sigh finally left Kabru's mouth; an impossible sense of fullness, a warmth so raw he could have swore it was burning him from inside out. The image of slightly sizzling flesh, to be eaten and swallowed whole... He wonders if it's Laios' hidden side, the one he tried to uncover since he first saw him, crude and unsettling, that's finally creeping into the crevices of his mind and insinuating those thoughts.
Anyway, every thought, blissed or cursed, is snatched away by impatience. Strong hands firmly hold his hips, locking him in place while Laios let's his head hang from the headrest, swaying ever so slightly while his eyelids flutter sweetly, blond lashes carresing his cheekbones; as he recollects all his strength left, he lifts Kabru effortlessly, grinding him up and down his own length, pulling a sequence of sweet, sweet moans out of his mouth, like a string of pearls that was choking the sounds in his throat.
Wild abandon fills the dining room, the one that's so severely prohibited during meals; it seems like every appetite must be satiated sooner or later, and so it will be. A shoot of clear liquid erupts from Kabru, soiling those clothes that, in the end, are nothing more than apanage to both of them, while his bowels get filled all the same. Again, so hot it burns, so deep it scars; an incorporeal mark that bounds them more than titles and rituals.
Both lie exhausted against each other, hands distracly stroking backs, lips softly brushing cheeks and necks. The silence has fallen once again on the dining hall. It's not discomfort, it's peace. Maybe words aren't made for them after all.
