Work Text:

This body wasn’t one of the best she’d been given—not that there was anything objectively wrong with it, but it didn’t give her any advantages on this planet, in this time, that she’d found herself plopped in after her most recent regeneration. But there was no dwelling on that now. She bolted across the boarding school grounds, her skirts tangling around her legs as she went. It had rained last night, and the shoes she wore weren’t made for this. It wasn’t long before she fell, skinning her elbows and covering her entire front in mud.

“Ugh,” she groaned, scrambling to get up.

Before she could, she was snatched by the scruff of her neck, like a kitten. Manhandled into the strong iron grasp she knew all too well, no matter what body he was in, she was soon being carried inside.

She flailed and screamed as she was carried up to the headmaster’s office, drawing the attention of various students and teachers who were on their way to morning classes.

“He’s not who he says he is!” she screamed. “And I shouldn’t be here. I’m—I’m the Doctor. And he’s—”

A hand clamped over her mouth. She knew better by now than to bite it.

“Apologies,” the Master’s voice called as he entered the office of the man for whom he’d taken over. “Somebody’s having a bit of an overactive imagination these days. I’ll be dealing with her disruption promptly.”

The door closed behind them, and the Doctor resigned herself to the punishment she knew would come. It had been like this for two weeks now. Surely another opportunity for escape would come soon, and she’d go about it better this time. For now, all she could do was endure.
