Work Text:
Mingi never expected his life to become this. He lived a life of chaos, always on the move with shows and roaring crowds. He’d never expected to enjoy something quiet, and delicate. He entered the performance hall, giving the man at the door his ticket along with his friends. His friend’s gave the door man sideways looks and wicked smiles. They don't even give him shit about his outfit anymore, not after the little firecracker yelled at them last time before the performance had started. Mingi had never seen something so beautiful become so deadly in an instant. It was like watching a snake strike with it’s venom. Mingi is special now, he's on the list. His friends are complaining but it’s drowned out by his excitement, who was he becoming? He supposed he shouldn’t be surprised; he was a musician at his core. He could appreciated rising crescendos just as much as electric guitar riffs. His friends, don’t understand why they're here, sticking out like a goth in a hay field, a bunch of punk rockers in a ballet hall. Mingi could tell his friends were getting antsy. They knew they’d never be accepted in this sort of social class, and they were starting to think Mingi was forgetting this fact.
“Dude for real, why are we here?” San rolls his eyes, dragging his feet. Their scuffed boots fall heavily, surrounded by polished loafers and dainty white heels. San hated this, all this performative bullshit; fancy suits and floral perfume, pearls and bowties. They found it all so grating.
“Because I said so and I had extra tickets. I invited Hongjoong to listen to the music and get inspiration, I don’t know why the rest of you had to tag along. It’s swan lake so it's, like, a classic.” His gruff irritation having the same effect as nails on a chalk board in the sea of elegance. Mingi doesn't care, he's only here for one reason. They take their seats, dead center and the boys finally quit their grumblings. The curtain draws and one of the most beautiful dancers they've ever seen steps out. They watch as she spins and releves around the stage, her presence unmatched, and yet completely different from anything these boys have ever seen. Her grace and her beauty increase as the music crescendos, emotions pouring off of her and flooding the audience as if she is truly feeling the hurt and fear within the story, and she might be. She plié’s and arches, her long limbs glistening in the spotlight. The boys sit up in their seats more and more as the story goes on, they may not understand what's happening but they are completely engrossed. This little dancer keeps them hypnotized, they're completely enthralled in a way they never have been. Their eyes shimmer, something that only happens when they all perform together. This--this felt exactly like that. She leaps and they gasp. She lifts a leg and they see her muscle in her thighs. She's elegant and utterly captivating. At the last scene, as she jumps over the ledge, they gasp and San barely contains his irritation as the lights return to their normal brightness. They stay in their seats for a moment as they try to process what they just witnessed.
“Let me get this straight, That dude turned her into a bird, the prince guy fell in love with her because she was a bird, they fought the wizard, he made another girl look like her, and then they both died at the end?! What the fuck bro? Why a bird? What led him to be in love with a bird?” San is frantically trying to piece together the story line, becoming increasingly confused at his own recount.
“She must have been a really cool bird bro, I don't know” Mingi chuckles a bit as they watch San have his meltdown about what just happened. Suddenly he stands, walking down the aisle crowded with social elites, people far too wealthy to be around him and his troupe of rockstar wannabes. He’s met with calls of his name from his friends, however he doesn't care, he has places to be. While his friends turn to leave the performance hall, Mingi turns towards the stage.
“Bro where are you going- Mingi!” They all exchange puzzled glances and one of them lets out an irritated sigh. He can hear them call out to him but again, he doesn't care. He drove them, obviously they’re gonna have to wait for him anyways. This night is special, and if they can’t understand that, then screw them. Besides, they made him move the entire drum set out of the back of the van, when all he could think about–was them. Before his mood can dip too far he hears an excited call of his name.
“Mangi! You came!” He looks up only to be blinded by a 10,000 watt smile. The most beautiful creature he's ever seen runs towards him in Kuromi slippers, leg warmers, and a black and pink duffle bag on their shoulder. He braces himself just in time to catch the body hurling towards him. He places his hands under their thighs as they wrap around his middle, and a kiss is placed on his cheek. His face heats with the contact, one that sends a jolt down his neck.
“Hey baby, you did great. I got you flowers but they're in the car.” He smiles sheepishly as Wooyoung looks down at him.
“Is it special flowers?”
A smirk grows upon his lips before he gives a short chuckle and a kiss is placed in its wake.
“I think ‘special flowers’ is accurate.” Mingi says, chuckling as his thumbs rub soft circles into Wooyoung’s skin. Wooyoung’s eyes glance behind him for a moment as his hands raise to Mingi’s pink buzzcut. Wooyung wears a curious look.
“Are those your friends? Ooh! Your band mates?” Mingi feels Wooyoung’s thighs grow slightly tighter around him for a split second when he mentions his band. Of course he loves his band, Wooyung thinks to himself.
“Yo Mingi why’d you run off-, what the fuck.” He turns to see his friends, clad in their all black and leather gazing upon his sweet wrapped up in his arms. They all throw curious glances toward Mingi, which could be misconstrued as stoic and sharp.
“Bro why are you dating the hot chick from the bird dance” Mingi knits his brow together. San really doesn’t think before he says anything does he.
“The bird dance?- It’s called swan lake, you lug. And just because I’m an omega doesn't mean we all like being called girls.” Wooyoung retorts, crossing his arms and pouting as he's held by his giant boyfriend.
“I don't know what that means” God Hongjoong is an idiot.
“He’s a boy, dumbass, I promise, baby, they aren't usually like this.” He tries to smooth down his boyfriend’s shirt. These dumbasses are going to scare away Wooyoung.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” Wooyoung is fully locked in on the boy with the light brown mullet. Mingi sighs softly. God Hongjoong control your face please for the love of god.
“That’s a boy?! No way we could totally see your pussy tryna sneak out of your tights!” All of the boys turn to Hongjoong, jaws dropped. Mingi’s jaw tightens.
“Wha- No you couldn't!! I have tights and briefs on top of a body suit! Mangi you couldn't see anything right?!” Mingi’s furrowed brow turns upward slightly. Oh shit now everyone is looking at him-
“No baby you couldn’t. Hongjoong is just dumb and an asshole.” He says placing Wooyoung back on the ground, the other boys finally realizing how small his new boyfriend really is. Mingi shoots a warning glance to the boys.
“He’s just- a meanie.” Wooyoung’s pout is devastating and the little huff he does as he crosses his arms in his oversized shirt is absolutely adorable. The boys take in what he’s wearing as he pouts at his boyfriend, craning his neck up until Mingi gives him a kiss. The shirt he has on completely covers the little skirt he has on underneath unless he lifts his arms, one shoulder showing as the shirt- which they soon realize is Mingi’s- falls down, collar bones fully on display. They collectively have a thought that if Mingi wasn't here they would be getting his number– well maybe not Hongjoong, he seems pretty mad at him. Not to mention he just insulted the poor omega in front of everyone.
Wooyoung winces as he stomps his foot, his slippers lighting up when the pressure shifts. His boyfriend is so cute in his little light up slippers and–oh no. Oh no, he still has the feathered head pieces in his hair. As much as Mingi loves helping him relax after a performance, he doesn't exactly love the mess of feathers being everywhere. And he means everywhere. In his clothes, on his couch, in the van, in his bed, somehow ending up in the shower. God, it gets on just about every flat surface in his apartment. He doesn't understand how so many feathers end up everywhere. Its a small head piece. There aren't even that many feathers on it. But whenever he helps Wooyoung remove it, it almost turns his apartment into a crime scene: murder most fowl. Mingi smirks at his own joke while Wooyoung is looking at him. His boyfriend is so pretty, he loves seeing those big brown eyes look up at him. Oh his boyfriend is starting to look irritated- Oh fuck he was talking that whole time.
“Mangi are you even listening?!” Fuck no he wasn’t-
“Uh yeah baby”
“Really? Then what was I just saying?” Wooyoung’s eyebrow raises alongside Mingi’s panic because he zoned out so long ago, he has no clue what his sweet omega was talking about.
“You do realize his name is Mingi right? Not Mangi” Hongjoong chides with a low voice. Thank you Hongjoong for stepping directly into the line of fire. I’ll make sure you have a nice burial. Here lies Kim Hongjoong, a great friend, but an even greater idiot. Killed by an angry omega. Covered in feathers. He will be missed.
“You think I don't know my boyfriend’s name? That’s just something I call him. If you were likeable then maybe you would have a nickname that wasn't just dumbass.” His omega is using his resting bitch face to his advantage before turning to his giant dumb boyfriend and sending him the sweetest smile as if he didn’t just read his guitarist to filth. “Can we go home now? My feet are killing me and I need to eat something greasy sooo bad. Can we get food on the way home? It’s still okay for me to stay over right?”
“Yeah baby you can sleep over, what do you want? Taco Bell or McDonalds?” He says, wrapping an arm around Wooyoung's waist as he grabs his duffle bag off the ground.
“Can we get both? I want a spread- Ooh do you still have those left overs from dinner last night? The kimchi and the bulgogi? Oh maybe some ramen too, I’m starving-” Wooyoung looks like a feral raccoon finally getting the lid off a garbage can outside a Wendy's.
“Isn’t that like, way too much food for someone so small? Not even Mingi can eat that much” Hongjoong opened his mouth once again, and like always, he proves the reason why he isn’t allowed to do press. Goddess please strike him down before he ruins the night of feasting I’m about to get.
“Excuse me? I’ve eaten nothing but salads and greek yogurt for 4 months, I think I deserve to binge on carbs, besides who asked you for your opinion? If I wanted to hear bullshit I would go to a farm, not ask someone who’s makeup looks like they got punched in the face, thank you very much. Now lets go eat, I’m starving, all I had today were almonds-”
“Don’t think you're leaving just yet” God damnit they almost got away. The click of heels on polished marble gets louder as the devil creeps closer to them. She’d be an angel, if she wasn’t filled with the stuff of nightmares.
“Hi mom. I’m gonna spend the night at Mingi’s so if I’m not in the dorms when you check my location, that's where I am. Oh, and we’re gonna get food on the way home.” His baby is smiling so big talking about food. Just before his mom can speak again, little feet coming running towards them
“Noona!”
“Kyungminnie!” He reaches down to pick up his baby brother and pulls him close, giving him a kiss. “Did you like my dance?”
“Yeah but I like when Noona does the other dance more! When are you coming home? We had to ride the train today to see you! I don't want you to stay up here anymore” Kyungmin has the biggest pout and a wobble in his lower lip. Woojung gently snuggles his nose into his little brothers.
“Do you honestly think you should be eating all of that junk? You really should watch your figure, no one wants a fat ballerina. Besides, I can already tell you're starting to get chubby. You've gained weight recently, everyone can see it. Maybe because of all the time you’ve spent with hooligans. Oh! Thomas wants to have dinner with you, you know he's looking for a wife.” They watch as Wooyoung’s entire demeanor shuts down. He pulls Kyungmin closer and the boys stare on with wide eyes. Hongjoong raises a brow, If this omega is fat then he’s a goddamn whale. Wooyoung is a twig, most of them would call him underweight, how does his mom think he’s getting chubby? And who the hell is Thomas?
“I’m following the diet that my instructor placed on me. I’ve actually lost weight since getting with Mingi, and I’ve already told you, I’m not seeing Thomas, I don’t care what businesses his family owns, I’m not marrying him. I’m with Mingi and you need to respect that or you can stop coming to my shows.” Wooyoung’s voice is firm as his hands shake against Kyungmin’s side. It’s difficult for him to stand up to his mother, with her pushing him being the reason he was able to land this scholarship. The long gruelling nights they spent under fluorescent lights in the studios she would rent out, the expensive coaches that pushed and bent his body in ways it was never intended to, hell he’s pretty sure she pushed him into presenting as an omega. The insane diets he began in middle school and her limiting all snacks and meals he could have, god forbid he gains 3 pounds. When he was 16, she gave birth to Kyungmin but that's his pup. He fed him, changed him, and stayed up with him. He didn't want what happened to him to happen to his little brother. The weeks without seeing his parents, as they went off galavanting in foreign countries, to yacht parties he wasn’t allowed at only for them to come home for a night before leaving again before he woke up. He didn’t want kyungmin to have to deal with knowing a nanny as a mother. His nanny is still who he sees as his mother, even after his mom tried to fire her after he turned 10 and continued to call “Miss Jamie mom”. His little brother deserved a loving home, and as jealous as he is thinking he should have had that, he’s glad kyungmin gets to experience it. His mother actually seems to be stepping up for once, no longer using the excuse that she is too young and beautiful to be a mother. He appreciates what his mother did, even if he still has a hard time eating and pinches at the nonexistent fat along his sides and stomach whenever he looks in the mirror. But Mingi is trying to fix that. His constant reassurances always send butterflies in a flurry within his stomach. The soft kisses placed there during long nights spent shrouded in darkness. Mingi is his light and he would do anything to keep it that way.
“Wonyoung, he’s a phase. You’ll grow out of it soon, and Thomas isn’t going to wait forever. He could give you so much, a stable life and a pretty girl like you could give him a beautiful baby. It would be beneficial on both ends. What can he give you?” His mother shoots a look at Mingi.
“A life spent in the back of a disgusting van? Living paycheck to paycheck while you get fat eating take out garbage everyday. Disgusting.” She casts an absolutely hateful and disgusted look at Mingi as he meets her eye with a smile.
“Mingi makes me happy, I don’t understand what's the problem with that. Why can’t that be enough? Mingi is a great guy, he treats me well-”
“Thomas could treat you well-” His mother is exasperated, desperately trying to make him see her point.
“Thomas put his last girlfriend in the hospital! Three separate times!” Wooyoung is clinging onto Kyungmin, his scent patches beginning to wear off as the boys all look between the two arguing omegas. Burnt doesn't even begin to describe the caramel stench invading each nose. Paired with his mothers scent of champagne and now wilting roses, it's an awful concoction to be surrounded with. Kyungmin puts a hand on his face as Mingi wraps his hand on his waist, pulling him closer as Wooyoung lets out a whine. He’s incredibly sore, positively starving, and his mother is pulling on every emotion he has in his overly tired state. She quickly pulls herself together, realizing that part of the stench is her. Mingi leans down to look into his eyes, trying to check on if his love is alright, but being met with misty and avoidant eyes.
“Well. I was just saying, I want what's best for my daughter. You deserve security. But I know you're stubborn, you always have been. Even with something silly like diets.” She says with a fake smile and an equally fake laugh. He kisses Kyungmin on the cheek before handing his brother over to his mom.
“Well those diets had me passing out during school and I was in the hospital twice because of them.” He mumbles out. “Look, we really should be going, Mingi’s friends look tired and really all I want is a shower and to go to bed. Love you Kyungminnie, be good.” He ends with a soft smile and a ruffle of Kyungmin’s hair.
“Right. A night of junk food I presume.” The judgement is poorly masked by a tight smile.
“No. I’m not hungry anymore.” He grabs his bag and moves to push past, his eyes cast downwards, his smile disappearing as his mom grabs arm, turning him towards her. She places a hand on his face, making him look up towards her; however his eyes meet her for a second before falling again.
“Hey. I love you.”
“I know” His eyes stay glued to the floor.
“I love you. I just want you taken care of”
“I know mom. I love you too.” He's quiet as he says it, nodding his head.
With one last glance up they move away, Mingi taking his bag as soon as Wooyoung goes to pass him and they walk out.
“Are you really not hungry?” He whispers, leaning down.
“I lied, I’m fucking starving. Let's go” Wooyoung says, practically dragging Mingi along with him. They make it to the van, Mingi opening his passenger door, lifting Wooyoung inside and buckling him in. After Wooyoung is situated he tilts his head up to look at him.
“Are you okay?” Mingi asks before crouching lower to see into Wooyoung’s eyes. He watches as tears begin to gather in his eyes, putting a hand on wooyoung’s cheek as he takes a stuttering breath.
“I’m fine, I’m just tired and hungry and I wanna go home and shower, I feel gross and I really don’t wanna cry in front of your friends.” He says with a wet whine as he takes another staggering breath.
“Okay baby, that's fine. Take a deep breath. C’mon shake it off”
“No mingi I-”
“C’mon shake it off” Mingi has his hands on his waist as he wiggles his upper body. “C’mon you know you want to, see, there we go” Mingi smiles as Wooyoung gives a little shake. He lets out a small whine at it, until Mingi does it again until he truly does it with a small smile. His giant boyfriend smiles and wipes his face. “There we go, there's my pretty baby.”
“Youre so dumb. I love you” His hands wipe his face, before he finally looks up at his boyfriend again.
“I know, I love you too. Now let's get food.” He says stepping back and closing the door. He turns to the other boys who are all looking at him as if he's grown a second head. “Get in” he goes around the car and gets in as the boys pile into the awaiting open door. The ride is silent as they make it to Taco Bell.
“Can I get a crunch wrap and 3 soft tacos? A large pepsi. Baby what do you want?”
“Can I get another crunch wrap, no tomatoes? Then 3 more soft tacos add sour cream, a chicken quesadilla, a doritos locos taco with no tomatoes and can I add rice and sour cream? A cheesy bean and rice burrito add steak and sour cream and a large mountain dew and some cinnamon twists? Please and thank you. With diablo sauce please.” The lady reads back their order as Wooyoung turns around. “Oh did yall want anything?” The boys in the back are flabbergasted as they think about the sheer amount of food this tiny omega has just ordered. They shake their heads no as they move forward to get their food. After grabbing their three full bags of food, they pull into the McDonalds drive through as Mingi orders again.
“Yeah, can I get 3 McChickens, a large Coke, a large fry and baby, what did you want?”
“Yeah can I get 2 more McChickens, a big Mac with no lettuce and extra Mac sauce, a large fry, 2 Large sweet teas, and a 10 piece nugget with ranch? Thank you so much” He turns to the other boys in the back as he once again hands his card over to Mingi, “Did you guys want anything?”
“Wait- all this food is- is just for you?!”
The look they get from Wooyoung is heart breaking. “I- yeah” his voice breaks a bit and they can smell the sadness “is that… is that bad?”
“Well-” Hongjoong do not say what you're about to say “I mean, don't you think it’s a bit much? Like that's a lot of food” Wooyoung’s face begins to twist. “Like that's way too much food for a little omega like you”
“Too much? Too much?? You wanna know what I’ve eaten today? 7 almonds. 7 ALMONDS! All day! And you wanna know what I have eaten every day for the past 4 months? SALAD! Only salad. But not a salad with cheese, cheese makes you fat. And no crutons, crutons make you fat. And you can’t do protein, it makes you gain more definition in your muscles and that makes you bigger and if you get bigger then you look fat and you can’t fit in the costume and if you can't fit in the costume, congrats! You just lost the role. And all those salad dressings have much more sugar then you realize and the sugar free healthy ones oh, well those are packed full of protein and other things I can’t have. So what do I use? A lemon! I get one lemon wedge and I can only have that with my salad and you might wonder, what I have in my salad if I can’t have cheese, or meat then I surely have a ton of other vegetables in it? Right? Wrong. I can’t have nuts because that adds more sugar and proteins and if I have them on my salad then I can’t have them as a snack later, when I really need it and feel dizzy. What am I supposed to eat during the times I really need it? If I eat something else, I’ll mess up the weigh ins the next day, so what am I supposed to do?” Wooyoung is laughing in the middle of his spiral as the boys in the back sit silent and terrified. They had no idea how much work the ballerina’s put in just to stay skinny. “I mean I suppose I could do what the other ballerinas do and just smoke cigarettes. I already follow part of their routine by drinking plain black coffee. That's it, black coffee, a handful of almonds, and- and- LETTUCE!” Wooyoung has tears in his eyes as he spirals further into his rant, scaring the boys in the backseat more than they expected when Hongjoong uttered the poor unsuspectingly hurtful words. But how was he supposed to know better, he’s an alpha. “I- I can only do so much, and I’m so hungry all the time, and I put so much energy into everything I do and, and I just want to eat *sob* I just *sob* want to be able, t-to eat and not b-be judged for it, o-or feel like I’m doing something wrong for eating o-or feel bad about it *sob* I’m tired of feeling bad about it” Wooyoung has begun sobbing as he sits forward again, head in hands as he cries and Mingi shoots the boys in the back the nastiest glare they have ever seen as his boyfriend pulls his knees to his chest, shoving his face into his knees. The young men in the back sit in shock, firstly, no man their age, omega or not, should be able to sit comfortably on the passenger seat with their legs pulled in. And secondly, they didn't mean to set off Mingi’s boyfriend like this, well they didn’t really do anything, Hongjoong did, but this is not how they ever expected to meet Mingi’s future partner. They pull out of the drive through after collecting their food and begin the trek back to Mingi’s house. After they arrive he gets out and goes to Wooyoung's door, opening it and unbuckling him with a small sigh. They see him pull Wooyoung out of the car before moving a few feet away before he cradles his head in his large hands. They see his quiet words of reassurance as he tries to calm him down, his entire body shaking worse than normal sobs would, however nothing about this is normal.
“I-I’m sorry, M-Mangi I’m so sorry, I-I wanted t-to make a g-good impression and I ruined it, I’m so sorry.” It makes Wooyoung cry harder and they see Mingi’s resolve break for a moment. They can’t deny the way the crying omega pulls on their heartstrings. The little omega’s hands clutch onto Mingi as if he would be swept away if he released him.
“Hey. You didn’t ruin anything. Hongjoong was being an asshole, I’m sorry about that. He shouldn’t have said anything that he has tonight. You aren’t overweight but I am going to take you inside, okay? I really need you to eat something cause you're shaking really bad. And you and I both know what happens when you cry too hard, don’t we.”
“I-I throw up.” He says with shaky breaths, still sobbing.
“Exactly and you don’t have anything in that little tummy of yours so how about you go in and shower super quick and get in your jammies? Hmm? Get in some fuzzy socks and your little jammie shorts and get one of my shirts out of the closet. Oh and how about you make a nest for us, you’d like that huh? That would make you feel a little better, huh?”
“Fuzzy socks” He's finally looking at Mingi but his breathing is still way too far out of his reach.
“Mhm”
“A-and your shirt.” His big eyes look up to Mingi as tears slowly streak down his face.“And a nest?”
“Yeah, I’d love to have you in your cute little nest when I get inside so we can cuddle and watch a movie, wouldn’t that be nice?”
“Nice, it w-would be n-nice.”
“You are doing so good, baby. Now, how about we take a couple deep breaths, hm? There we go, how about a few more.” Mingi is helping him with guided breathing, smoothing one of Wooyoung’s hands across his chest.
Slowly but surely Wooyoung’s breathing becomes softer, His body leaning almost completely into Mingi as he runs a hand through his little omega’s hair.
“I’m really sorry Mangi, you shouldn’t have to deal with all of this” His voice is broken from his crying, breaking halfway through, showing his exhaustion. Mingi pulls away to hold his head in his hands.
“Hey, I signed up for this. You told me a long time ago about your struggles and gave me an out then. I didn’t leave then and I’m not leaving now. I love you, all of you. I’m here for it. Okay? No getting rid of me now” His hand returns to Wooyoung's hair as he pulls him close for a minute more. “Now how about that shower?”
“O-okay” Wooyoung looks up at Mingi one more time before his head falls back to the ground, as he turns to walk back inside. Mingi turns back to the car after making sure Wooyoung makes it inside.
“Sorry about that, Wooyoung… struggles with a lot of things. But we’re working on it” His hand rests on the base of his scalp.
“Naw man, I’m so sorry, I didn’t realize I was gonna trigger him that badly.”
“It’s okay, please don’t bring it up again. Right after he gets put on rest is always the hardest since he gets stuck in his pre-show mind set. Eating is a hard subject”
“Yeah we see that” Mingi tosses Seonghwa the keys to the van before turning back to the house, glancing over his shoulder to call out to them “Thanks for bringing the food and stuff inside, I’m about to carb load him into a coma” He chuckles at the thought of his little omega, asleep, belly full and round with fries stuck to his face and a half eaten taco in his hand, exactly how he found him last time they did this.
“Hey Mingi, why did his mom call him Wonyoung?” Seonghwa asks quietly. Mingi looks to the sky for a moment before taking a deep breath.
“Once he presented omega she changed his name. Said Wooyoung was too boyish for a girl like him. He is a boy and always has been but yeah. His family only refers to him as a woman, that’s why he said that about omegas being boys.” Mingi enters the house seemingly ending the conversation there.
The boys load up in the van and sit there in silence for a bit. San leans forward from the middle row, the same seat he was in before, returning to it after bringing all the food inside.
“His mom refers to him as a girl. I don’t know what I would do if I woke up with a vagina after a week of pain and my Dad started calling me a girl.” San is quiet as he says it, all of them feeling worse about this meeting as time goes on.
“Yeah I get that.” They drive in silence back to their respective apartments and homes.
Meanwhile Mingi gets in the house and goes to find his kitten. He stops outside of the bathroom and finds it silent. He walks to his bedroom hearing quiet sobs once again, breaking through the silence. It’s obvious that his darling hadn’t heard his entry as he quietly tries to hold in his sobs.
“Oh baby, come here. What’s wrong” His voice is gentle as he walks over towards the omega surrounded by the messiest nest he’s ever seen from him. Usually Wooyoung is extremely particular with his nests, unable to rest as he needs it to be perfect.
Wooyoung’s head shoots up from his place sitting on the floor, the fuzzy socks in his hands while he's being swallowed by Mingi’s oversized shirt.
“They’re ripped, they- my socks- I- I can’t-” Before he can continue on with his spiral, Mingi grabs his hands, white knuckles clutching the socks. His wide eyes look up at his large boyfriend.
“Baby those are the old ones look-” He pulls a new pair of pink fuzzy socks from on the bed, his poor baby was probably already crying from his shower, he didn’t even see them on the blankets.
“But my feet, they're all torn up… It'll catch on the socks..” Mingi’s distraction only works for so long but he's gonna do whatever he can to fix the situation. Wooyoung always does so much for him, he deserves to feel good after such a hard performance. Mingi looks down at his feet, covered in bandages and patches to cover blisters. The bandaids are new, meaning he changed them after his shower. He knows enough about ballerinas to know about their feet and the damage they do to them. He softly puts Wooyoung’s foot on his hand before bringing it up and placing a soft kiss on his ankle and the sole of his foot. He grabs the new fuzzy socks and gently puts them on his lover. “See? No problem.” His smile helps melt away some of the tension in the small omega’s shoulders.
Wooyoung lets another tear slip as he looks at him. Why does his boyfriend have to be so perfect, soft and caring towards him?
“Thank you” He croaks out. All Mingi does is smile towards him. He softly caresses his lover's leg as he tries to sooth his mate. “Is that all that had you so upset?” He's gentle as he looks at his sniffling mate as he tries to get the words to come out. This breakdown has been building for a while, with Wooyoung’s packed schedule with little food leading up to the performance. His little shaking mate looks around for a moment, Mingi doesn't rush him. He sits patiently waiting for him to be ready to talk.
“I-... The nest…” He looks at Mingi who is still sitting outside of the nest, giving the omega a bit more time to settle himself.
“What about the nest baby?”
“It's bad” His voice breaks once again as tears stream down his face. He looks around at the lumps of blankets surrounding him, nothing weaved together or on top of a blanket like normal.
“Not bad, it just needs to be finished.” Mingi smiles softly, “Do you wanna move to the living room? I just got a nesting mat but it’s out there and we could eat and watch a movie.”
Wooyoung softly nods his head reaching out for Mingi once more, he's tired and he wants the food he had forgotten about. Mingi helps him up, when he sees Wooyoung stand on shaking legs he decides to just carry him. He takes him into the living room, placing him down on the soft couch, rolling out the nesting mat before quickly grabbing all of the blankets and clothes he knows Wooyoung likes in his nest. He also grabs one of his biggest sweatshirts he owns for his lover to wear. He quickly makes his return after changing into ‘nest approved’ soft clothes. He comes back out to see his omega sitting on a blanket sprawled out on the mat, already starting to weave blankets. Mingi smiles as he hears the sniffles are lessening, as his omega lets instincts completely take over. Slowly but surely the most perfect nest Mingi has ever seen is finished, his lover chewing on his lip and looking up at him.
“What a beautiful nest baby. May I enter? Such a perfect nest, such a good omega for me.” Wooyoung nods his head as his cheeks turn pink. Mingi carefully steps over the walls of blankets, bringing all the food into the nest so his baby can eat. Wooyoung sits crisscrossed as Mingi unloads all the food into the nest.
Wooyoung waits patiently as Mingi takes all the food out of the bags, handing things over to his lover. He turns on the TV and Wooyoung hears the voice of Kristen Stewart starting on the screen. He turns and begins removing all of the feathered pieces from his hair, running his fingers through the inky locks after all the pieces are removed. They eat as Wooyoung’s mood picks up, Mingi and him sharing snacks until eventually the sweetness returns to his caramel scent. The rich notes of bourbon hiding under the strong scent of pine make their way to Wooyoung’s sensitive nose as he looks up at Mingi. “What?”
Mingi looks at him confused “What?”
“Why are you so happy? I can smell you”
“What I can't be happy watching twilight and eating dinner with my beautiful omega in his nest?”
Wooyoung gives him a look that tells him he isn’t believing him.
“Okay I’m just happy you're smelling so sweet again. It makes me feel like I did an okay job as an alpha.”
“You did a great job. Thank you for helping me, and just… being with me.. being you. I really appreciate you. I love you” he finishes by tilting his head up towards his much larger boyfriend, being met with a soft kiss where all of their left over emotions from the day.
“I love you too” He smiles down at his lover and offers another kiss to him.
