Pictures Last Longer

Summary:

Jyushimatsu has a smartphone. Todomatsu helps. Todomatsu helps a lot, and then some.

Notes:

hi! sooo. i've started writing this quite a while ago, and its in the works, though i might be slow with it. this is in totty's POV. also, headcanons:

jyushimatsu texts with auto capitalize on, but doesn't really use punctuation or anything otherwise. UNLESS he really wants to make a point, then exclamation marks are his fave
totty texts the way i write here kinda! just all small letters, with punctuation. plus he uses a heckload of emojis. so many emojis.

i'm a LINE user, buuut the way i write using LINE might be too technical, so if that's a bother, i apologize.
ok i hope this is nice to read! im having fun w this. i Might up the rating eventually, but for now, i'm unsure yet. ok! bye!

Chapter 1: (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑

Chapter Text

Todomatsu wouldn’t say he was the most observant out of his brothers, because really, none of them were. But he noticed things from time to time when he cared enough. And Jyushimatsu holding a phone was something he definitely cared about, in addition of that being very obviously different. It was almost silly, how his brother was patting away at the smartphone’s screen with his thumbs encased in sleeves, tongue sticking out the side of his mouth.

“Jyushimatsu nii-san? Is that yours?”

Jyushimatsu looked up at him and nodded vigorously twice, before returning his attention to the phone, “Yeah! It’s super brand new. And it was cheap!”

Todomatsu pushed himself up from where he laid on the floor, very curious, “Oh? You got yourself a smartphone? Why?”

“Homerun-chan gave me her number,” Jyushimatsu said, his smile gone softer, “I can send her pictures so she can laugh every day, and it was really cheap!”

This was new. Well, the whole thing where Jyushimatsu met a girl who genuinely seemed to like him was also new, but it wasn’t a bad development at all. In fact, Todomatsu was quite glad that Jyushimatsu decided to get a phone. At least one of his brothers decided to graduate from being an old-fashioned piece of shit and catch up with the times. Todomatsu sidled up to Jyushimatsu, resting his chin on Jyushimatsu’s shoulder, “Can I see? Does she have LINE? I can help install it for you, so you can talk to her for free.”

Jyushimatsu whooped and wrapped an arm around Todomatsu’s shoulders, squeezing hard, “Totty!! Totty yes, put a line in this phone for me!”

“Gimme then,” he snickered, well aware that Jyushimatsu had never heard of LINE in his life, probably. That was fine. He could teach Jyushimatsu the ways of the socially adept, Jyushimatsu had potential. And Todomatsu actually liked Jyushimatsu, and couldn’t really say the same for the rest of his nerd brothers.

(Well, that depended on his mood, but still.)

He plucked the smartphone from Jyushimatsu’s hands and his brother wasn’t lying, it was a cheap model. An OPPO Joy, with small storage and mediocre camera megapixels, but Todomatsu supposed it would do. It was decent enough. He felt very proud of Jyushimatsu for a moment.

“Here, I’ll install a few things for you, you can use my data for now,” he palmed his own phone while Jyushimatsu vibrated in place next to him, “But you gotta get your own soon, so you can LINE Homerun-chan whenever you want. Okay?”

“Totty!!” Jyushimatsu yelled louder, hugging Todomatsu so hard he was sure his ribs would break into pieces, “That’s amazing! You’re the Phone Guru, please show me your ways, thank you!”

Todomatsu was gasping for breath by the time Jyushimatsu let him go and did a happy little dance, but he couldn’t bring himself to reprimand his brother for nearly killing him. There was a lot to do for Jyushimatsu’s new phone, and a lot to teach Jyushimatsu, when he was actually paying attention. It wasn’t always that his brothers needed his help specifically, so helping Jyushimatsu out with this felt pretty neat. After all, he was the Phone Guru.

Nothing was happening today. There weren’t any cute girls working out at the gym. He was only chatting with two people at once, instead of the usual five, and Jyushimatsu didn’t really count so it was really just that one girl. It was fine, though. Jyushimatsu didn’t send him messages that often, but when he did, it was like a barrage of words and LINE stickers that were very amusing, so Todomatsu didn’t mind it all that much. The day Jyushimatsu discovered the stickers on LINE was a day Todomatsu would remember forever.

He was getting decent with it, too, only sometimes asking Todomatsu for technical help. But Jyushimatsu didn’t constantly have his phone in his hand the way Todomatsu did, so while the rest of their brothers were aware of that little development, no one really mentioned it aside from the initial exclamations of surprise. Jyushimatsu was still Jyushimatsu. Well, that was fine as well. Todomatsu wouldn’t want that particular brother of his to change drastically.

Someone was waiting for him to stop using the treadmill, he could see them from the corner of his eye. It was kinda annoying, some random guy hovering beside him like that, but he was a regular at this gym and it wouldn’t do to accidentally mess with another regular. That’d be a nuisance. So Todomatsu slowed his pace, stretching his arms while he did, obviously coming to a stop. He flashed a brief smile to the other person as he left; nothing too genuine, it was fucking rude to just stand and stare; and left for the showers. He had a decent workout, his routine was still unhindered, so he was good for the day. Small accomplishments were still accomplishments.

He checked his phone one last time before stripping out of his sweaty clothes. The girl he was currently chatting with, Jyunko, was pretty brazen in her texts. There was potential there, be it for jerk off material or something more, but Todomatsu thought he might just try his chances. There was no one around; it was a weekday; so he pulled his shirt up and snapped a quick picture of himself. Then he snapped seven more after reconsideration, and chose the best one out of them all. He sent the picture with just the right amount of blurriness to Jyunko on LINE.

just finished gym! do u think its doing me any favors? Σ(*ノ´>ω<。`)ノ

He slipped his phone into his tote bag and locked it in the individual metal lockers they had, before going off to clean himself in the communal showers. Numerous texting experiences had taught him that it was much better to distract yourself with literally anything else while waiting for a reply after sending something risky. Reading the (usually positive) replies afterwards always felt like a pleasant surprise. If he was lucky, Jyunko might just send him a selfie in reply. Probably something with her midriff bared. Gotta love those belly button wrinkles.

So he showered, taking his sweet time. If Jyunko wasn’t into his careful, half-assed body shots then that was fine, she was fun to chat with, but not really his type anyway. He just liked making friends. He came out of the showers feeling a little antsy anyways, curious to see if there was a reply. He wiped at his hair with one hand as his free one opened the locker and got his phone to check. There was a reply! But upon closer inspection, he realized that the reply was from Jyushimatsu. Probably some weird ass sticker again, but Todomatsu opened it anyway, he never let texts linger unless he was trying to get out of a situation or playing hard to get.

He felt his eyes bug out. Jyushimatsu had sent Todomatsu a picture. It was of Jyushimatsu himself, as clear as day, with his baseball jersey off of his body and on his shoulder instead, chest gleaming with sweat, his goofy face grinning at the camera. Todomatsu swallowed, scrolled up a bit and saw his own body in that chatbox. He had sent his body shot to the wrong person.

He had sent his half-nude to Jyushimatsu.

Todomatsu scrolled back down, reading what Jyushimatsu had said in reply, temporarily distracted by Jyushimatsu’s bare chest.

LOOOKIN GOOD TOTTY!! Gyms good for you! What about me???

He felt dizzy. He found himself tilting his head anyways, reevaluating Jyushimatsu’s picture. His brother could probably work on the angle a little more, maybe stand somewhere where the sun wouldn’t shine so brightly, but Jyushimatsu looked…he looked pretty damn good. It was no secret that Jyushimatsu was fit from all that baseball bat swinging he did, it wasn’t as if Todomatsu wasn’t used to seeing him naked but somehow this was a little different. His eyes dropped down to Jyushimatsu’s navel.

A notification noise alert from his phone made him literally jump, knocking his elbow against the metal of the locker door. It was still Jyushimatsu; he had sent Todomatsu a sticker of some weird anime character flexing, and Todomatsu had to laugh, albeit a little nervously. His throat felt a little dry. He exhaled and typed a reply, just a short one. It wouldn’t do to let Jyushimatsu know that he wrongly sent that selfie. He’d get teased for ages. There was no telling with Jyushimatsu.

not bad nii-san! we should both work hard (*•̀ᴗ•́*)و ̑̑

That settled that. He forgot completely about Jyunko,  got dressed, packed up his things, and quickly headed for home, silently wondering if he could keep a straight face when he inevitably met Jyushimatsu later.

He saved the picture of Jyushimatsu into his phone, though. Just in case.
