The sun was shining brightly in Maldives, the waters clear and blue, and the weather perfect for two people who are on their honeymoon. Jinyoung and Jaebeom finally got married a few days ago in a small, private ceremony with only their families and closest friends there to witness their union. Same sex relationships are still frowned upon by society, but they have successfully kept their relationship hidden from the public eye all this time, not really needing people’s scrutiny and judgment.
It was nearing lunchtime when Jinyoung finally emerged from the gorgeous villa that they called home for the whole week, looking for his husband. Jaebeom had let him sleep in that morning, knowing how tired he was from their activities last night. Jinyoung eventually found him on a lounge chair nearby with an umbrella that was keeping him from getting sunburnt but oddly had his left arm extended and exposed to the sun.
“Hyung, what are you doing?” Jinyoung asked, amused, as he approached where Jaebeom is sitting. He has gotten used to whatever antics Jaebeom was up to in all the years they have been together, but he still gets surprised every time.
Jaebeom lowered his sunglasses and glanced at him, a wide smile blooming on his face that makes his eyes disappear, “Jinyoungie, ready for lunch?”
“Yes, but again, hyung, what are you doing? Why does it look like you are sunbathing your hand?” Jinyoung asked again because of course Jaebom would not answer his question right away.
“Oh, this?” He raised his arm higher. “I’m getting a ring tan,” Jaebeom happily said like it is the most obvious thing in the world.
Confusion was etched all over Jinyoung’s face, one eyebrow raised, “A what?”
“A ring tan. I saw a video the other day of a guy trying to get one, and I thought it was a great idea. So now I’m trying to get one as well,” Jaebeom explained, checking how said ring tan is progressing on his finger.
“Why would you even want to do that? You already have an actual ring on in case you forgot.” Jinyoung, for the life of him, could not understand his husband’s line of reasoning.
“I just wanted the world to know I’m already taken and happily married even when I’m not wearing my wedding ring. Not that I even plan on taking off my ring, but it’s a nice plan B just in case,” Jaebeom grinned.
Jinyoung chuckled and shook his head, now even more amused after hearing all that. Ever the voice of reason, he said, “Hyung, you do realize that that tan is not going to last forever, don’t you?"
Jaebeom’s face slightly fell. That thought actually did not cross his mind at the beginning. He just thought it was something fun to do and for some reason also thought it was going to last forever. But just as sudden as he was given that reality check, he thought of a great idea. “I’ll take a picture of it then and carry it around with me,” he happily said.
Laughing out loud now, eyes crinkling at the corners like they always do, Jinyoung said, “You really are impossible, hyung, and also an idiot.”
“I’m YOUR idiot, Jinyoungie, and forever too might I add,” he cheekily said while holding up his hand to show him his wedding ring. Jaebeom slowly stood up and reached for Jinyoung’s hand. “Let’s go get some lunch.”
Shaking his head again and still chuckling, Jinyoung took his husband’s hand, and they made their way over to the resort’s restaurant. He may not say it out loud, but Jinyong is already looking forward to Jaebeom achieving said ring tan. Maybe he will even try to get one as well.
