Meanwhile, in an Alternate Universe

Summary:

What could have been...

Incredible art at the end by Toriscreeebs

Work Text:

“And the BAFTA for this year’s Entertainment award goes to… Taskmaster!”

The crowd cheers as the cameras move in on Greg and Alex – separate cameras for the two of them, since they’re not sitting together, for once. They head up to the stage and meet in the centre once they’re up there, going in for a hug at the podium. Greg takes the trophy from the presenter and takes his place at the podium. Once the applause dies down, he begins to speak.

“Thank you very much, we’re incredibly grateful for this.” He holds the trophy aloft. “Thank you for allowing our silly show to continue, and for believing in us even after ten years. We really appreciate it. And now…” Greg turns to Alex, who’s nervously fidgeting with his fingers. “To show you our appreciation, we’ve prepared a little surprise in the event that we won.”

Greg places the trophy carefully on the podium, and then turns to Alex. He grabs the front of Alex’s piped jacket with one hand, and the edge of Alex’s trousers with the other. In one quick motion, he rips the suit right off of Alex, leaving him in just his shiny black shoes, his piped bowtie, and his bright pink pants.

The crowd goes wild. Alex’s face and ears light up bright red as the cameras zoom in and take in the sight. Greg lets the clothing fall to the floor, and he gestures with both hands to Alex, who is grinning uncomfortably and trying to give little waves and nods to the cameras. His socks are black with a pink ribbon pattern to match his pants. Greg’s smile lights up the room as he gives Alex more than enough screen time. He bends down to pick up the discarded clothes, then takes up the trophy in his free hand. Then he leans in toward the mic to address the audience before they head off stage.

“Once again, thank you so much! Alex, thank the nice people for the award.”

“Th-thank you, everyone,” Alex stammers, his face beet red.

As they walk off stage to a round of raucous applause, Greg slaps Alex’s arse on the way, causing Alex to jump and scamper off stage to a roar of laughter.
