Chapter Text

Cardinal never had accidental Sisters to join on in the ministry before, it was a rarely at most, but here was a girl who mysteriously appeared under Sister Imperators care. And where ever this woman was originally supposed to be, it safe to assume she didn’t have any interest in trying to get to her main location.

Cardinal raised his brow looking at her information on the file as she across from him, her eyes awkwardly darting across the room's shelves of Cardinal’s books and trinkets that aligned the shelves of his office, her seeing the clergy crucifix and shuddered a bit which was off to him. “Sarah? Correct?” Cardinal addressed, she returned eye contact uncomfortably before nodding silently. Based on her reply, she wasn’t all too worried about conversation but more interested in the items on the shelves.

“So, do you like them?” He chuckled softly, “Some are just decor, but most has its relevance,” Cardinal added softly. She looked back at him, looking at his mismatched eyes and her eyes shifted away a second later. Some jars filled with an odd assortment of demon body parts. “Theyre…cool,” she replied not so enthusiastically. “How does Sister Sarah sound to you?” Cardinal asked as he closed her folder and Sarah’s greenish brown eyes stayed put on it as he walked and put it in his metal filling cabinet nearby.

“Sounds okay,” she replied with a ragged breath, she was anxious and seemed not uncomfortable, Cardinal couldn’t exactly tell. Skittish maybe. He didn’t question it. “I’ll show you to your sleeping chambers, shall we go cara?” He inquired, she nodded and got up to follow, he made small talk on the the way.

“So, I noticed you’re file stated your from Mississippi, what is a lady like you doing all the way in LA?” He asked, she widened her eyes a bit at the question before replying promptly. “Blame my parents, or my rebel soul,” she replied, her statement showed she wasn’t comfortable sharing everything to him yet which he didn’t mind. “Rebel soul huh? Bold statement for someone so skittish like you,” he playfully teased which she manage to chuckle at that.

“I’m sorry, I’m just awkward, I need to get use to this place,” she admits thoughtfully, he nods. “I understand, take things slow,” he says, trying to be relatable and she agreed with him.

They finally reached the eighth room on the right wing of the sleeping quarters of the ministry as they stopped in front of her room. He promptly handed her a key, “keep up with this, we only have one copy of each room, one room, no making extras for anyone under any circumstances,” Cardinal stated, handing the key to her which she took from him in a slow motion way, not fast but slow enough to seem elegant even tho her hands were shaky.

“A few rules to know. No tearing up the room, if you destroy, you replace. No letting the ghouls in the room after midnight on a full moon. No harassment of any kind. And finally, sleep and hang with who you like just know word gets around, even if you don’t sleep around or hang with other siblings of sin,” Cardinal stated gently. She nodded and took her notes on her phone.

“One question, what job will I be assigned to?” She asked softly, “You know laundry and housekeeping, those are your responsibilities outside of your room after mass or before,” Cardinal replied.

As she entered her room, she sighed, starting to settle in.
