Respite

Summary:

An end of S2 AU.

After Colin returns home he finds that Penelope has seemingly abandoned their friendship, unaware that she heard him drunkenly say he'd never court her. Determined to mend things with her at Anthony and Kate's celebratory wedding ball before the beginning of the new season, Penelope and Colin find themselves forced into a marriage when they are caught alone.

Pre-reading details: 

 

This story is an end of Season 2 AU – everything with Jack happened as per the show. Penelope did hear Colin and the toxic Lord squad the night of the Featherington Ball. Colin left for his travels not knowing Penelope heard him as per the show. 

 

Major changes:

  • The entire Eloise and Pen plot outing her and Theo never happened. Eloise is more aligned with her book character in terms of LW and while fascinated with Lady Whistledown did not try and find her in any real and meaningful way, therefore nothing happened with Theo or the Queen. 
  • At the start of this story only Philippa is married – Prudence is still looking for a husband.

 

This story begins at the end of S2 during the last few days of the "off season" before they are scheduled to go back to London.

 

I've always wanted to try my hand at regency - so here we go. I once again ask forgiveness for any typos as there is no beta but me. I do have most of this mapped out - but life does life and I am not sure how regular I will be with my updates. That being said I am brimming with ideas and have already gotten started on the second chapter.
