Work Text:

Jaeyi didn’t notice it at first.

When they met again, Seulgi ran to her, sobbing hard, and threw her arms around her.

Then, as her cries softened, she hugged Jaeyi even tighter — like she never wanted to let her go.

Jaeyi could feel Seulgi’s breath against her neck.

“I’m never letting you out of my sight again,” Seulgi whispered.

She didn’t notice the way Seulgi started getting overprotective.

At first, it felt normal — comforting, even.

Until one day, when Jaeyi decided to step out of her small house to go to the market — something she had always done — Seulgi stopped her.

“You’re not leaving,” she said, voice low and final. “It’s not safe out there.”

Jaeyi froze.

Seulgi looked different. Her eyes, her voice — there was something off about them.

But then, in an instant, the Seulgi she knew came back— soft, pleading, desperate.

She explained how her father might be lurking around, showered Jaeyi with kisses and soft touches.

And how could Jaeyi possibly say no, when Seulgi was already pinning her down, making her forget her own name all over again?

So she let it go.

She could still go out, just not too far. Not anywhere crowded. And only with Seulgi’s permission. And Seulgi would always be there — always watching, always hovering, always making sure nothing could ever take Jaeyi away from her again.

Kyung and Yeri eventually found out — much to Seulgi’s obvious dismay. They visited often, and to Jaeyi’s surprise, she actually felt happy every time she saw them. It was refreshing, seeing other faces — hearing other voices that weren’t Seulgi’s.

Don’t get her wrong — Jaeyi loved Seulgi. She loved her with all she had.

But lately… it was starting to feel suffocating.

Everywhere she went, Seulgi was there. Every move she made, Seulgi was breathing down her neck.

Even trips to the washroom — Seulgi followed.

Sometimes, it felt… tiring.

Even the endless sex — especially when Seulgi’s hands would tighten and leave bruises on her skin. On her hips, her wrists, her throat— as Seulgi watches her come.

Still, Jaeyi brushed it all aside.

So when she finally confided in Kyung and Yeri — when she told them everything — she didn’t expect the way their faces would twist in worry.

She didn’t expect to feel scared, too.

Surely there wasn’t anything wrong with Seulgi, right?

But then that day happened.

Kyung and Yeri insisted on taking Jaeyi out — just a quick trip to a coffee shop.

They felt sorry for her, trapped in that little house.

Jaeyi wanted to let Seulgi know, but they promised they’d be back before Seulgi could even notice.

Jaeyi agreed. And for a while, she didn’t regret it.

For a while, she could finally breathe again.

It would have been a perfect day — if she hadn’t seen him.

Her father.

Standing across the street. Frozen. Watching her.

Ready to drag her back to hell.

Panic shot through her veins. She ran, faster than she thought possible.

Everything blurred — faces, colors, sounds — until she could barely see where she was going.

She ducked around a corner and stopped, gasping for air.

Slowly, she dared a peek behind her — to see if he was still there.

That was when she felt it.

A sharp sting in her neck — like a needle piercing her skin.

She spun around, wide-eyed —

And froze.

“Seulgi…?” she whispered.

And then everything went dark.

The first thing she felt was the throbbing ache in her neck.

She groaned, blinking into the darkness — blindfolded.

Her wrists were bound to the armrests of a chair.

A thick rope wound tightly around her body, pinning her in place.

Her breaths came in short, desperate bursts as terror set in.

“Seulgi!” she screamed.

No response.

Tears welled in her eyes. “Seulgi, where are you?” she whispered, voice breaking.

Minutes passed — or hours — before she finally heard the sound of a door creaking open.

Locks clicking. Chains rattling.

Footsteps.

“You’re awake.”

Her voice sounds different, darker. But Jaeyi knows it’s Seulgi’s. She would sometimes hear that voice before—warning her before she went out to skate, reminding her before Seulgi left the house, and in their closed bedroom before Seulgi tore Jaeyi’s clothes.

“Seulgi, take these off, please.” Jaeyi begged.

She heard a chair scrape against the floor, then felt fingers at her blindfold — tugging it away.

Seulgi sat in front of her, expression unreadable.

She looked around. There’s a bed. A kitchen sink. A sofa and a TV screen. Another small room— probably a washroom. But there are no windows. The door has many locks and even wrapped in heavy chains.

“I wanted it to be a surprise.”

She almost jerked when Seulgi spoke again.

Jaeyi looked at her, heart hammered against her ribs. “Where are we? Why am I tied up?”

Seulgi leaned forward, holding Jaeyi’s bound hands— no, grasping.

“I don’t want you to do something stupid again.” her hands trailed up Jaeyi’s bare arms, making her shiver. “I told you not to see Kyung and Yeri anymore. I told you not to go out. But you didn’t listen You never listened. And I almost lost you.” her hands held Jaeyi’s arms tightly, eyes locked onto Jaeyi’s, burning with intensity. “I could never let that happen. Not again.”

“Where are they? Kyung? Yeri? My father?”

Seulgi’s lips curled into a smile — a smile so wrong it made Jaeyi’s blood run cold. “You don’t have to worry about them anymore. I took care of it.”

The words dropped like stones in Jaeyi’s stomach.

“What did you do?” she croaked.

But instead of answering, Seulgi  just grinned, as if she found Jaeyi’s fear amusing. Her hand lifted to cup Jaeyi’s cheek, and Jaeyi flinched.

Seulgi noticed it. Her smile faded, and she brought both hands up to cup Jaeyi’s face—firm, not too tight, but enough to force Jaeyi to meet her eyes.

“I’d do anything to protect you, Jaeyi. To keep you safe. I’ll keep you where no one can ever hurt you again.”

Her grip tightened, bruising.

“They can never take you away from me. Not again.”

Jaeyi should’ve noticed.

She should’ve seen it coming.

Maybe then she could have stopped Seulgi from turning into this.

Maybe then she wouldn’t have walked out of one hell, only to fall straight into another.
