🥀

Saint never believed in the supernatural.

He always thought of ghost stories as mere fiction tales whispered to frighten children. But that was before he came into his life before Shin, his lover died..

It was an ordinary evening, like so many before it. The moonlight filtered softly through the curtains, casting its pale glow across Saint’s quiet apartment. But there was a shift in the air something he couldn’t explain. It felt colder than usual a sudden chill that seemed to seep into his bones even with the heat on.

Saint had been lying on the couch, wrapped in a blanket, trying to read. His mindhowever wandered to thoughts of Shin, who had been gone for months.

Shin’s absence left a gaping hole in his heart that nothing could fill. The silence of his home was unbearable. He never thought he would feel so alone in a place he had once shared so intimately with the one person he loved more than anything.

The apartment felt emptier with each passing day. But tonight, something was different. The faintest whisper of a breeze seemed to stir the room, carrying with it a sensation Saint knew all too well the faint, elusive trace of Shin.

It wasn’t until the whispering began that Saint started to believe in the things he once dismissed. Soft almost imperceptible at first as if carried on the wind. A name his name.

“Saint…”

The voice was unmistakable. It was his voice, familiar deep and soothing. The same voice that had always comforted him made him feel safe.

Saint sat up, his heart pounding in his chest. He looked around the dimly lit room searching for any signs of life but there was nothing. The apartment was empty. Except… it felt different now. It felt alive in a way it hadn’t in months.

The whisper came again clearer this time.

“Saint…”

His breath caught in his throat. He stood up, his feet carrying him to the window, where the cool night air brushed against his skin. His fingers reached out, trembling and for a fleeting moment, he swore he saw the reflection of Shin in the glass. His heart skipped.

Then, he felt it.

A soft presence behind him, warm and familiar. The feeling of Shin’s arms wrapping around him from behind pulling him close. It wasn’t a dream no this was real. Shin’s spirit was here in the room with him, protecting him even in death.

Saint’s breath hitched as he felt the coolness of Shin’s presence settle on his skin. His fingers twitched wanting to reach out to touch, but he couldn’t see him. The room was dark and the air felt dense with the weight of unspoken emotions.

“You’re here,” Saint whispered voice cracking. “You’re really here.”

A soft chuckle filled the room, low and comforting.

“I’ve never left you,” Shin’s voice said, a hint of possessiveness lacing his words. Saint felt the warmth of Shin’s spirit surround him wrapping him in a protective embrace. “You’re mine, Saint. Always.”

Saint’s heart swelled with emotion as he leaned back into the invisible presence of Shin. The sensation of being held of being cared for flooded him with a warmth he hadn’t known since Shin’s death.

“Why didn’t you tell me?” Saint asked a sob catching in his throat. “Why didn’t you stay… with me?”

Shin’s spirit was silent for a moment the air thick with tension. Then a soft pressure on Saint’s shoulders as if Shin were caressing him.

“I couldn’t stay in the way I wanted, Saint. But I’ll always be here” Shin whispered, his voice both possessive and tender. “You don’t need to worry. No one will hurt you.”

Saint closed his eyes, feeling the love and warmth in Shin’s words, the possessiveness of his spirit wrapping around him like a cocoon. He felt safe, love though in a way, it was haunting. Shin’s spirit had never truly left but Saint could feel that the boundaries between life and death had blurred.

“I miss you,” Saint whispered, his heart aching with longing. “I don’t know how to go on without you.”

Shin’s presence tightened around him, an almost protective force. His spirit seemed to envelop Saint the air around them thick with the energy of his love.

“I won’t let you go, Saint. Not now, not ever,” Shin’s voice murmured, his words heavy with a possessiveness that made Saint shiver. “You’re mine, remember? And I’ll keep you safe, forever.”

Saint leaned into the presence of Shin his fingers brushing the air as if he could touch him. He closed his eyes giving into the warmth of Shin’s spirit. As long as Shin was there, he wasn’t truly alone.

The Nights That Followed

As the days passed, Saint began to feel Shin more and more the subtle shift in the air whenever he entered a room the way his presence lingered even in the darkest corners of the apartment.

It was as if Shin’s spirit had woven itself into the very fabric of the place his touch lingering just beneath the surface.

At night, when Saint would lay in bed his body would shiver as the cool ethereal touch of Shin would gently press against him.

He would feel the weight of Shin’s arms, soft and warm wrapping around him. And though Shin was gone in body, his touch was so real it made Saint feel like he was alive again like there was still something that tethered them together something that would never break.

Shin, in his eternal form, was possessive in a way that Saint had never fully understood before. It was subtle at first small signs a faint trace of breath against his skin a soft hand brushing against his shoulder when he moved a whisper in his ear when he lay alone at night.

It wasn’t intrusive or aggressive, but Saint could feel the intent in the air. Shin was watching. Shin was there.

“I can’t live without you,” Saint had whispered one night as if testing the limits of Shin’s spirit. He wasn’t sure what he expected in return, but when he felt Shin’s presence tighten around him, a soft warmth like a protective shield, he knew that Shin heard him, that Shin was there holding him even from the other side.

“Don’t you ever doubt that, Saint,” Shin’s voice came a low growl in his ear that made Saint’s heart race. “You belong to me even now. And I won’t let anyone take you from me.”

Possessiveness From Beyond

Saint’s pulse quickened as the presence around him grew stronger as if Shin was getting closer, becoming more corporeal. He felt fingers ghosting over his skin tracing the outline of his arm, the curve of his waist.

The air grew heavier, charged with something that felt dangerous exciting Shin’s presence was no longer just a comforting ghost. There was an edge to it now, a force that made Saint’s breath hitch his heart skip.

“Shin?” Saint murmured, unsure of what to say. He wasn’t sure if he was ready for whatever Shin had in mind but something deep inside told him he couldn’t resist.

“I’m always with you, Saint. I’ll never leave,” Shin said, his voice low, dark with desire. The air around Saint shifted again warmer this time as if Shin’s spirit was pressing against him enveloping him in a way that felt more intimate than ever.

Saint’s breath caught. He could feel Shin’s longing feel his spirit reach for him, and the possessiveness in those words sent a shiver down his spine. Saint couldn’t help but lean back his body instinctively pressing into the air where Shin’s presence was strongest.

“I’m yours” Saint whispered, his voice barely audible, his own desire evident in the tremor that ran through him. “You’ve always had me.”

Shin’s chuckle rumbled through the room a deep sound that made Saint’s heart race. He could feel the intensity of Shin’s gaze the love that swirled around him like a protective force.

“Good,” Shin murmured, the air growing thick with energy. “Because I won’t ever let you go. You belong to me Saint. Forever.”

And so, Saint drifted off to sleep that night, the warmth of Shin’s spirit surrounding him. In the silence of the night he knew Shin was still there still watching over him.

The boundary between life and death had never seemed so thin, so fragile. But for Saint it no longer mattered. Shin was still with him his lover his protector and nothing could ever take him away.

End-

“Even death cannot sever the thread that binds us. Love is not bound by time or flesh it lingers, persistent and eternal like a whisper in the dark always waiting to find its way back.”
