Bokuto is misunderstood, everyone seems to think he is dumb just because he failed some of his classes But, everyone gets surprised the moment they see him for the first time in a match.
The day of the actual match he seems to be the only one who remains calmed. Everyone is so used to his mood swings during those matches that they forget that he is the team captain for a reason.
The moment he starts making an inspirational speech, he looked calmed and collected, he made sure to reassure everyone that they would keep playing no matter what.
He seemed so wise while talking to them, until he broke into a bragging fit of him being the best Ace there. The trance that everyone had fell into broke. They all realized that it was the same Bokuto that they've known.
That was the moment they all finally got to understand their captain and how he had gotten to where he was. And that was the moment they decided to never judge anything they were ordered by him.
