Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Risen from shadows and stars, two flames burn in eternal storm,
lost and found, torn yet bound, seeking through void and veiled shades.
Fractured yet pulled by threads too strong to sever,
shattered stardust weaves love from night,
where unchained power eclipses the light.

The air was thick with the smell of rain and earth. The sky above him was dark – too dark, even for dusk. A strange stillness hung in the air, as though the world was holding its breath.

He was small again, a boy – no, not even that - barely a child, unsure of his own strength. He stood alone in the field, surrounded by tall grass that swayed as if it were alive. The wind whispered around him, though there was no sound… only a shiver that passed through his skin, crawling down his spine.

And then, she appeared.

At first, it was just a shadow. A figure in the distance, her presence like an inkblot on the canvas of his vision. But the closer she got, the clearer she became. She was… not quite a girl… but something more. She moved with an unnatural grace, her hair dark as the void and her eyes… her eyes were light, too bright for the world around them. A flicker of something – something other – shone within her.

She was silent, her feet not disturbing the earth as she walked, like a dream... or a phantom.

“Who are you?” he asked, the words falling from his mouth without thinking.

She didn’t answer. Instead, her lips curled into a smile, faint and knowing, as though she understood everything without speaking.

I know you, her presence whispered, though no words passed her lips. The sensation was far more powerful than anything he had ever felt. It wasn’t a thought, it was an emotion; a connection deeper than his own understanding, as if they shared the same pulse. You’re broken, too, the unspoken thought lingered in his mind.

The boy stepped forward; his legs unsteady as though the ground itself was shifting beneath him. He reached out, his hand trembling, and for a moment, he felt as though he could touch the very fabric of the universe, as though her skin held the secrets of the stars.

No, don’t touch me, the thought came then, sharp and urgent, like a sudden gust of wind. But it wasn’t fear that stopped him. It was something else. Something told him that he wasn’t supposed to. Something else was watching.

The world shifted, the darkness pressing in, and the air thickened with something he couldn’t name. In the blink of an eye, the girl was standing at the edge of the field, her back to him now. The space between them grew, and yet she hadn’t moved. Her silhouette was now swallowed by a blinding light, and he could feel the pulse of it in his chest. She was something impossible, something he couldn’t keep. She was both there and not, a thread in the web of reality that he couldn’t unravel.

He reached for her, desperate now, but the ground was pulling him down, as though the earth itself was rejecting his very existence. His fingers grazed the air where she had been, but she was already gone.

The light faded, and the wind fell still again. The field, the grass… it was all just as it had been, but she was gone.

You will find me again, the whisper echoed faintly from somewhere deeper than his mind... from the forgotten corners of his very soul.

And then – darkness.

A flash of cold. The weight of something unspeakable pressing in on him, smothering him, leaving him gasping for air. The memory frayed, like a broken string that couldn’t hold itself together.

Find me.
