Work Text:
One day, someone starts a rumor that Gojo is gay.
In some unbelievable way it’s blown up throughout the university.
And what’s more important is that the same person starts a rumor that Suguru Geto is his boyfriend. Actually, he isn’t. It’s an important detail.
Everyone knows that they’re best friends, it’s not a secret. They’re always together and maybe - just maybe - it’s kind of too much, but they don’t care about that.
Do they?
Gojo absolutely doesn’t, he knows that. He adores every second he spends with Geto. If he had the possibility he would never leave Suguru alone. All because Geto is the one person he really appreciates.
As for Geto’s point of view, Gojo is absolutely one hundred percent sure that Suguru also likes him — as a best friend of course — because Satoru Gojo is amazing, courageous, adorable, charming and generous. His humility is his main feature by the way.
So Gojo knows that everyone likes him, especially Geto. It’s obvious. They’re best friends and he knows that Suguru is his main fan. (Or someone just has too high self-esteem. It’s not Gojo, though. He knows he is a god.)
And it doesn’t matter that Geto is always freaking out because of Satoru's “dumb” (of course it’s definitely not) behavior. He's jealous because Gojo has other fans.
Which brings him back to the rumors. The last three years they’ve been in the university neither of them have dated any girl, and they’ve rejected numerous invitations. So maybe it’s not surprising that someone thinks that Gojo is gay.
Especially because he is. But that’s not the point. He didn’t tell anyone, not even Suguru. Just because… why would he? That’s not the thing he really had to worry about. He didn’t hide it but also didn’t announce it. And Satoru never thought that the news that someone is gay could shock people so much.
“You’ve become the main topic of discussion,” says Geto with a strange expression on his face, almost as if he’s glad of this outcome. Gojo supposes this situation makes him laugh. Maybe Suguru is mocking him. He likes to do that.
“Actually, I’ve always been,“ Gojo snorts, smiling. “The difference is that now people also pay attention to you. Enjoy it while you can.”
Geto raises eyebrows. “I’m no less popular than you are.”
Satoru smirks derisively. “Aren’t you?”
Geto rolls his eyes. “So what do you think about the rumor?” He changes the subject of conversation. Gojo shrugs.
“I don’t care. Maybe it’s even better because now I won’t get chocolates from girls I'm seeing for the first time in my life.”
“Yeah, you’ll start getting them from boys,” Geto says.
“Oh,” Satoru stops. “I haven’t thought about that in this way. I'll die from obesity by twenty five.”
Suguru laughs. “It's already a challenge for you to live until twenty-five.”
“How dare you…” Gojo pretends he’s heartbroken, acting like he’s falling on the floor because of it. And who would have thought that he would actually stumble over his own feet and fall, unable to keep his balance.
It’s unexpected, but at the last moment Suguru catches him. Maybe he knows Satoru too well. Geto doesn’t say anything but Gojo sees his barely noticeable gloating smile and understands everything.
For a few seconds they are frozen. Their faces are so close that Gojo can count all Suguru’s eyelashes. Satoru is really trying to look only at his eyes and he fails at the next second. It’s dishonest because Gojo really can’t control it, his gaze lowers on Suguru’s lips and his almost evil smirk is getting wider as if he knew something Satoru doesn’t know. It feels so strange because Gojo just can’t stop staring and actually he doesn’t want to.
And he knows what to call this feeling. He has known it all his life.
Gojo thinks it is the gayest thing that has ever happened to him.
He swallows when Geto's eyes sparkle, almost apprehensively, and then Suguru gently puts Gojo on his feet.
“Told you.” It’s the one thing Geto says. And it takes Satoru a few long seconds to understand what he means.
Gojo doesn’t answer and doesn’t even look at him, he forces himself to stand up straight on his feet, trying to act like nothing happened. Some students are gazing at them as if they are doing something strange. Some of them even take photos.
More than anything, Satoru hopes that his cheeks aren’t as obviously red as he is feeling right now. It’s scary. How can Gojo Satoru blush? He is the most shameless person in the whole world and if someone says that he is embarrassed it will be a blatant lie.
The most surprising thing is that Geto doesn’t look like something has happened right now.
Is it because Suguru just doesn’t care? Maybe he doesn't attach importance to such moments and that's fine. Despite the fact that Gojo has always been greedy for people, he is satisfied with the fact that he and Geto are best friends. Well… he is almost satisfied.
“So what do you think? Who spread the rumor?” Suguru asks a second time with an unreadable face.
Gojo shrugs. His thoughts are still somewhere else. Maybe Satoru is losing his mind, but he is sure that recently there have been significantly more ambiguous moments between them.
“Satoru?”
Oh, yeah, Gojo should say something. He’d almost forgotten about that.
“I don’t know… Maybe someone who is jealous of me and my popularity.”
“Like who?”
“Maybe it’s you,” says Gojo. He doesn't mean it seriously, just teasing Suguru.
“Oh, yeah, I'm really jealous of you because these girls are falling all over you,” says Geto sarcastically. “You’re forgetting one important thing. If I was jealous I wouldn’t say that we are dating. Now all these girls think that I’m your boyfriend and also gay. Or at least bisexual”.
“I didn’t know you could be so smart. So if it’s not you, who can it be…” Satoru says thoughtfully. “Maybe Toji? He’s never liked me. Or Nanami? Girls usually don’t notice him.”
Suguru signs. “You really think they’d do that?”
“I'm just throwing things at the wall. We need to start from somewhere. And don’t forget who told me to think about it. It seems you care about those rumors more than I do.”
Geto raises eyebrows. “Really? Maybe I’m just interested in your reaction. After all, it affects your reputation.”
“Nope. It’s the thing I’ve been dreaming of all my life, so I don’t care,” Satoru says, his sarcastic tone masking the truth of the statement. “I even like it.” And he also likes to make fun of Geto, and this is a good opportunity to do so.
Gojo knows from the look in Geto’s eyes that he is accepting the challenge.
“So you like to imagine that you’re dating me?” Suddenly, Gojo is trapped between Geto and the wall. Satoru can even feel his hot breath on his face. Suguru doesn’t break eye contact and Gojo has to make an effort not to give up right now.
Because it’s all just a game. And Gojo knows he is going to lose. He’s already lost.
“Guess.” He grins and winks. “You know, right now we’re confirming the rumors, so you just have to draw conclusions,” Satoru whispers so only Geto can hear him. But even if Gojo has already lost he can still set the rules. And he’s going to get everything he can from this moment. He wraps both arms around Geto’s neck and pulls him even closer, so now there’s barely any distance between their faces.
A small number of students have already gathered around them, but Geto doesn’t even look at them. It seems that he enjoys what is happening as much as Satoru himself.
“Then I guess you’ll be glad to hear that I was the person who spread the rumors,” Geto says with confidence. Then he kisses Gojo.
Satoru swears that it's all just a dream. Because Suguru can’t kiss him so passionately and bite Gojo’s lips, burying his fingers in Satoru’s hair. Can he?
Gojo’s breath is heaving and the world is falling out from under his feet, but he latches on to Suguru’s shoulders and kisses him back. It’s too good to be real. Geto’s lips are warm and soft and very tasty. He acts gentle and he is in no hurry to deepen the kiss, almost as if Geto really cared about Satoru’s comfort. But at the same time it feels like Suguru isn't going to stop that easily.
Satoru’s brain is melting and it’s okay, he doesn’t care because the most important thing for now is Geto’s lips. But Geto suddenly breaks the kiss. Suguru’s cheeks are flushed and his lips have become so chubby. Satoru reaches for another kiss but Geto stops him.
“Oh, I see you really like it, but I think we should continue in a more private place,” Suguru says in a low voice. And Gojo just can’t refuse him.
