Walking towards the execution chambers, Akito had accepted his destiny; that was what he got after dating the prince even though he was only a knight, after flying too close to the sun it's only a matter of time that your wings start to burn.
"AKITO! PLEASE LET HIM LIVE, HAVE MERCY ON HIM! I BEG OF YOU DO NOT PUNISH HIM AND TAKE ME INSTEAD!" He had heard the love of his life shout when he walked to the plaza where the traitors were exposed. He would not lie that his heart broke when he heard him and could not comfort him as he was used to doing.
"You only get 5 minutes." The executioner said, 5 minutes before he would leave his lover all alone.
Although all of his body burned and weighed like lead, he continued on pushing through, running to meet with his beloved prince one last time.
When they finally met each other, they wrapped themselves up in a tight and desperate embrace, trying to cling to each other's warmth to never forget it, to never let go of it, to never leave it behind.
"Please Akito, my love, my sunshine, my partner, let me take your place in this punishment, let me take the blame for everything, please please!" was the desperate plea that his lover gave him, slowly starting to tear up until he was crying uncontrollably on his shoulder, ever afraid to let go.
"I'll never stop protecting you Touya, it's what I swore on the day I was assigned to you and now I'm fulfilling my promise to us. I'll never let you be harmed, even though it's going to," he swallowed the lump on his throat "kill me in the process..."
Touya's eyes went wide with fear and shock, because even though he'd been aware of what the punishment for his lover would be, that the latter confirmed it suddenly made all of it feel more real and that it was going to happen in less than five minutes.
"No... No please no!! Don't leave me behind Akito! Please don't leave! Don't accept it as it is...!!!" More and more tears flowed from his eyes and to his face, which was gently cuped by shaking hands in an attempt to reassure him one last time.
"You only have one minute left." The executioner's cold voice echoed in the chamber, cementing the ever-so-growing dread between the lovers.
In a last minute decision, Akito kissed Touya; as passionate and delicate as it could be but also as long as they could, as if a kiss would be the cure to the problem they were trapped in.
"I'll miss you my dear prince," was the last thing Akito said before being dragged to the scaffold, Touya desperately tried to grab his knight before he was taken away by force.
The only thing that could be heard was a deafening heartbroken scream.
