Sleeping in

Summary:

Brian..."

"Mh?"

"It's eight."

"...Okay."

Well, you're missing class, and sure, you could rush up to school while you've still got most of your classes left, but... Okay, you have no excuse, but you're both tired; why ruin the moment?

Sleeping in with Brian

Work Text:

"Mnn..." You groan, the caw of the crows outside ringing in your ears as you roll over onto your left side. Suddenly, your boyfriend follows suit, rolling over and wrapping an arm around your torso as you blink your eyes open. You drowsily lift up your phone from his nightstand, wincing as you glance up at the screen.

"Brian..."

"Mh?"

"It's eight."

"...Okay."

Well, you're missing class, and sure, you could rush up to school while you've still got most of your classes left, but... Okay, you have no excuse, but you're both tired; why ruin the moment?

You lay your phone back down before rolling over on your right, wrapping your arms around your boyfriend's back as you lay your chin against his shoulder. Brian reciprocates, rubbing his thumb into the dip of your back. Once you manage to drown out the screeching of the crows, you've drifted off to sleep again.

A loud thump along with some barking pulls you out of sleep. You squint your eyes open as you sit up, patting down beside you only to be met with a handful of warm sheets. You open your eyes fully and look around the room. "...What was that? Where'd he go?" A groan coming from the front catches your attention, as well as Brian's dog, Doggo, walking in.

Brian huffs as he pushes his tired body up off of the ground, slipping again on a controller cord before he finally manages to steady himself. You burst out into giggles as he stands up, wobbling a bit before he gains his balance. Sulking over, he leans down to pet his dog before leaning back up and arching his back with an audible crack. He presses his left hand up against the back of his head, rubbing against it while he stares over at you in annoyance.

Taking notice of what seems to be pain in his head, you stop laughing and clear your throat before speaking. "Are you good?" "Yeah." "You sure? I've got some painkillers if...?" You pause when he rolls his eyes, a faint smile on his face as he lowers his hand down against the back of his neck. "It's fine; it doesn't hurt."

Your eyes close, and you yawn before opening them once again and turning to the side, dangling your feet off of the bed before standing up and walking over towards Brian. He looks to you with wide eyes as you grab the side of his neck, pulling his head down to kiss the back of his head, coincidentally in the spot of a gash with stitches.

"Well, now it doesn't." You say with a grin at the end of the sentence as you make your way back towards his bed with a wave over to his dog. You reach for your phone, scratching at your collarbone for a second as you open the screen. You swipe away some notifications before seeing something from Polly.

"I'm gettin' something to eat." Brian interrupts as you begin to read. "Alright, I'll be there in a second."

You open the notification to your texts, reading out the messages she'd sent.

"GIRL WHEREE ARE YOUU"

Scrolling down, you see some blurry photo of her and Damien, and you can't really tell what's happening; you'll ask her about it later.

You check the time, half past two, before plugging your phone into Brian's charger and setting it down. You sigh, close your eyes, and rub your face before standing up to walk towards the kitchen. Once you step down and move your other foot behind, you suddenly—

Now you're face down on the floor and maybe facing a concussion. You push yourself up on your knees and look down at the blanket that tripped you. "Ugh." Pushing yourself back up on your feet, you see Doggo walk in the room with a wagging tail. You give the little fella a pat to the head before you finally walk off into the kitchen in discomfort, Doggo following beside you.

A half-eaten cup of vanilla yogurt in hand, Brian looks to you with a smug grin. "Did you fall?' You reciprocate the look, but with a bit of aggression in your eye. "...I have a headache, Brian." He chuckles, you adore it, and you walk over to sit down beside him as Doggo runs off to drink some water.

He sets down his yogurt along with the spoon before he runs a hand through the front of your hair and pulls your head down. He presses a soft kiss onto the back of your head before you pull back up.

"Better?"

"Absolutely, but I fell on my face."

He can't help but laugh, rustling your hair instead of tending to where you actually fell.

"I heard there's painkillers for that."

You turn your head and pick up his yogurt cup to shove a spoonful into your mouth. He looks and laughs before he chokes on his own saliva and starts to cough; Doggo hopping up onto his lap doesn't help when he hunches over. As he settles down after a moment, you set what little is left of his yogurt back down, and you give him a peck on the cheek.

"I love you," he says.

"I love you too," you return.

"I'm hungry."

"Me too."

"..."

"Your breath stinks."

"I bet."

After a good few minutes of enjoying each other's company in silence, you stand up, leaning back and stretching out your arms. "I'm gonna brush my teeth." Brian nudges his dog to the side and ruffles the ears before standing up beside you. "Guess I should too then. Prolly' woula' forgot if you didn't mention it." "I would've forgot if you didn't have bad breath."

You two make your way into his bathroom and pick up your toothbrushes (of course you have a designated toothbrush at his house). He drops a bit of toothpaste on yours for you before you start to brush. You spit out your toothpaste and rinse your mouth out; he does the same, but the water trickles out between his teeth.

"Wanna' make breakfast?" You ask as you both walk out from his bathroom. "Together," you add on, cooking being a thing you try to do together when you've got the opportunity. "Sure, but I think we're outa' some stuff." You shrug it off and reach for his cold hand.

Turning from the corner of the hall, hand in hand, you both notice Doggo sitting at the front door with a wagging tail as you come into view. "Damn, we usually go for a walk before school." You think to yourself, "It's been what, 8 or 9 hours after?" before saying, "A walk sounds nice." "Yeah, we can probably get food from the store too." He says with mention to his family's shop.

You walk over to the door, his dog standing excitedly as you both put on your shoes. He reaches for the leash on the coat hanger and snaps it onto Doggo's collar before opening the door. Suddenly, a wave of coldness hits you, and he shuts the door, his dog looking up with confusion. "Well, it's colder than yesterday." He says with a sigh before grabbing his coat from the hanger and handing it over to you. "Huh?" "Take it; you didn't bring one."

He leaves you no room to decline as he drops the leash and walks back towards his room. Pushing your arms through the thick, insulated sleeves and lifting the collar over your shoulders, you can't help but smile; it reeks of dead body, but in the best way possible.

Returning with a hoodie over his T-shirt, he's greeted by you smiling back at him, lovingly. "What?" "I just love you." He smiles back as he leans down to grab the leash back off of the floor, Doggo turning back around towards the door as he does so. He leans in to press a soft, cold kiss against your own with dry lips. "I love you too." You hold his right hand in your left as you open the door once more, feeling warmer than before. It'll be a good day today.

Notes:

First, I wanna say thanks to everyone that finished this! A little anxious over my writing style especially with such a slow writing, so I thought you'd all get bored and drop this early on lol. I enjoyed writing this, so I might make a request collection if anyone would like to comment some stuff!(or if monster prom ao3 isnt dead lmao)

Second, I started writing this at work, right? I was around 900ish words in when I got back home, and once I did, I immediately set an alarm, and fell asleep. Before I knew it, I was getting woken up an hour past my alarm and now I'm like 40 minutes late...
