Chapter Text

Narcissa sat in her potions classroom near her friends: Zoya Zabini and Xenophillius Malfoy, as the two talked to each other Narcissa glanced around the room not focusing on the conversation at hand. Her attention was immediately got drawn away when she heard the loud chatter and identified her cousin, Sirius Black, as one of the voices and then assumed the rest was his obnoxious friends but got confused and interested when she didn’t see the tall scarred one with them and then saw him several minutes later walk in and sat nowhere near his friends but sat a bit close/ on the same table as Narcissa.

“Hey Lupin, how come you aren’t sitting with Sirius and that lot?” Narcissa asked as Xenophillius and Zoya kept talking. Remus turned to look at her and then sighed before speaking.

“Sirius pulled a prank that ruined everything...” He said resting his chin on his hand which then Narcissa smirked a bit.

“He has a habit of ruining everything...” Narcissa said then glancing at Sirius and his friends only to find one of the friends; a tall, muscular, attractive, tan girl with short curly brown hair and a plaster on her hand, staring at her. The girl quickly looked away as they met eyes, the girls hazel honey pot eyes met the cold icy silver blue gaze of Narcissa; no one ever dared to look Narcissa in the eye, but the girl was a keeper on the Gryffindor quidditch team and wasn’t afraid of much. Her rough hands had the faint speckle of dirt and mud on them showing she had just come from Herbology and had evidently done a lot of work without gloves, something Narcissa would never dare to do such a thing.

The class passed and Narcissa ended up speaking to Remus almost all lessons; she found out they had a lot in common: love of reading, hatred for loud places, love for Doc Martens, toast lovers, tea not coffee for a fact, heavy number of scars. The only things different were their lifestyles and blood lines, and of course some other things but those didn't really matter. The two left the classroom with each other talking then Narcissa asked.

“What subject do you have next?” Her voice pulled to a halt when she saw the girl from earlier in potions causing a blush to ruffle her face that she quickly dismissed. She tried to stay engaged with the conversation at hand but couldn’t help but glance over to the girl who she had quickly found a lot about just by looking at her: her blue jeans were rolled up at the bottom showing off some yellow socks with bees and plants on them, an embroidered plant pot with a green sprout on her back pocket, her hands were rough but textured from sight as dirt spotted in larger splotches so you wouldn’t get it confused with the beauty marks on her hands that had chipped yellow nail polish.

Later in the day, Narcissa was in study hall doing her daily revision which just so happened to be herbology, the subject she could see from afar the girl from Potions loved most. Her eyes scanned the words of a chapter she then summed up by writing down a summary in her black leather book. She heard someone pull out a chair next to her and she gazed up to see who it was only to find out it was the girl from potions. Seeing her up-close was a whole different experience: a scar on her upper left cheek most likely from quidditch caught her eye.

She then felt the girl brush her hand against Narcissa’s cheek.

“Aren’t you pretty...?” She said as she began brushing her thumb just over the bridge between Narcissa’s lips and nose. The smirk on those lips just enraged Narcissa.

“Get off,” She swatted the hand away, “wash your hands. They have dirt on them.” Her French accent rolling off her tongue hissing her words out as she went back to studying. Her nails raked into her own skin on her leg to stop it from it from bouncing.

“Hey... you alright there, Black?” She asked her voice taking more of a concerned rather than cocky tone now as she took a notice of the nails digging into the pale legs of the girl sat in front. The blonde girl drew her hand away and quickly gathered all her stuff and slid it into her black tote bag with other books and supplies in there.

“I'm fine, Fortescue.” Narcissa said as she drew her eyes away and turned her heel to exit the study hall, her heels clacking against the stone floor. Alice sat in the chair she felt strewn between two feelings: annoyance for Narcissa leaving like that and attraction towards Narcissa for being so rude; Alice took a moment to process her feelings before getting up and rushing to find Narcissa. She followed the sound of clacking shoes in the distant and saw the blonde girl heading away towards a room Alice had no idea where this room was; Narcissa waited for a while before a large door revealed and she slipped inside and shut the door quietly before Alice stumbled towards it and tried to pry the door open so she could also walk in and talk to Narcissa, Narcissa saw the door open slightly and opened it before saying.

“Piss off, Fortescue.” She spat her words out with her French accent rolling off her tongue, her silver blue eyes looked Alice up and down before closing the door on her face. Alice stood their stunned but didn’t miss the eyes glancing over her; this either meant Narcissa was judging her or checking her out. Alice pulled the door open and walked over to Narcissa. who was sat just below sofa doing some work on a table, and Alice sat just behind her and wrapped her arms loosely around Narcissa’s neck- making her blush a bit but she hid it as much as she could. “I said, piss off Fortescue.”

“Oh, but baby... you look so pretty when you’re studying, and you said Fortescue not Alice.” She said with a smirk on her face as she rubbed her thumbs against the slightly exposed collarbones of the pale girl that had a silver necklace laying on it. Narcissa had to bit her lower lip, getting lipstick onto her teeth, to hold back a whimper at the sensations against her collarbones as well as the pet name.

“I- I said piss off... Alice.” She said demanding her to leave. Alice spotted inside the large purse bag lay a set of pointe shoes.

“Are those pointe shoes, princess?” Alice asked whilst running her fingers through Narcissa’s soft blonde hair. Narcissa gulped slightly and nodded and then continued her studies and sighed as she felt weirdly relaxed during this moment; she was usually always tense and on edge but at this moment she felt oh so safe and relaxed with a girl she barely knew and was meant to never speak to and be enemies with, but she didn’t want to anymore- she never felt this safe with someone is years ever since her sister Andromeda left home when she was 7.
