She absolutely was not staring. If anyone asked, she’d deny to her last dying breath how her eyes couldn’t leave your face, admiring how the light made your eyes twinkle brightly. She followed the slight crease between your brows as you concentrated on cleaning the glasses held delicately between your fingers. The slight huff that passes through your lips as you hold them up, only to realise they were still dirty. It wasn’t that she disliked you with glasses. If anything, she loved you in them. Especially when you would glance at her over the rim, with your pen tucked neatly between your teeth as you grin and chuckle at whatever stupid joke she’d made.
You were vaguely aware of the raven haired woman's eyes on you. Could feel them dragging across your face. “You’re staring, Prentiss.” You mutter, not glancing up from your task, but you hear her splutter in surprise at being caught. It makes you smile, pleased with her reaction. Emily quickly schools her features. “Sorry, it’s just-... this is the first time I’ve seen you without your glasses.” She’s still staring.
Letting out a small chuckle, “I suppose it’s because I’m rarely in the field with you.” Slipping your glasses back on, you glance over your adjoining desks, only to be floored by the look on her face. Her lips are slightly parted and her gaze is heavy with wonder as she admires your newly revealed features. The dark glaze that blooms in her eyes causes something to stir deep in your chest and your breaths begin to quicken in excitement.
“Have you ever considered contacts? They’d suit you…” she asks, tugging her lower lip between her teeth, a slight blush spreading across her cheeks. A familiar warmth filled your chest at her words, a wide smile filling your face as you contemplated the look of admiration on her face. “I’ll have to look into it,” you muse. When your attention returned to the screen, Emily continued to admire you, ignoring the heat that flared in her stomach.
You felt positively giddy for the rest of the day, amazed by Emily’s ability to change your entire mood with one look.
When you walked into the bullpen kitchen two weeks later, Emily almost dropped her coffee. “Mornin’, Em.” You smiled, reaching by her to grab a mug from the cupboard, making quick work of your own coffee. You hum quietly to yourself as you take a long sip, both hands curled around the mug, as your shoulders sag in relief. Despite hearing her shuffle closer, you try not to jump when her fingers brush your temple, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear. “Can I help you, agent?” Your voice lilts with amusement. From the corner of your eye, you see Emily tentatively pulling her hand back, the embarrassment evident on her face.
She awkwardly clears her throat and begins gesturing to your face. “No glasses…”
Real smooth, Prentiss. Emily scolds herself, hoping–praying–that you won’t be mad at her intrusion. “Thought I’d take your advice, try the whole contacts thing. What do you think?” You answer. Placing your mug on the counter, you step into her space, chests almost touching as you flutter your eyelashes dramatically. A pink tinges Emily’s cheeks as she allows herself to fall into your gaze, an almost dumbstruck expression taking over her features. “Pretty…” she whispers, “I mean-, well, it looks good. You look good!” Emily laughs nervously, all too aware of the smug grin tugging at your lips.
Leaning forward until your lips brushed her ear, you whisper, “I’ll have to wear them for you more often then.” Pulling back with a wink, you grab your coffee and make for the door, leaving a very confused and slightly turned on Emily Prentiss to stare after you.
