Chapter Text
A boat pulled up to the beach, a wooden plank slamming onto the sand. A man with brown hair and eyes stepped out of the boats compartment and stood on the plank with some bags. He wore a McDonald's looking uniform, with a name tag pinned to his apron.
El Mariana. What a strange name.
He walked off the boat taking the bags with him, but as he strode off the plank it was lifted and slid back onto the boat. The boat started up making a kind of u-turn going back to where it came from.
“Wait! ¡No sé dónde estoy! ¡No puedes dejarme en medio de la nada!”
(I don't know where i am! You can't leave me in the middle of nowhere!)
Mariana ran trying to get close enough to jump back onto the boat, He wasn't going to stay in the middle of nowhere! He didn't even know if he was in the right location!
He came because of a job interview near a place called “L’Manburg”. It didn't really show up on any maps and barely anyone knew where it was, he was lucky to find someone who knew about it and give him a ride there. This person was quite weird, ‘captain’, they called themself. They wore a white mask with an XD face on it, and for some reason he didn't see that as a red flag.
By now, the boat was far into the distance, he’d be unable to jump onto it. He was going to be interviewed for a place called “McPuffys”, whether he liked it or not. It didn't sound that different from his old job.
Hopefully this one would be worth it or he was stuck on a random island all for nothing.
He took his stuff walking away into the dark oak forest beyond.
He kept walking, dragging his bags with him along the way. He kept it up for a while, suddenly stopping at a stone wall. He stood, just staring at the cold hard wall. Something made him feel like he needed to leave. This place gave him a shiver up his spine. Something just wasn’t right.. And he knew it.
There were rumors that this place had a ghost roaming around, that the people weren't very kind. Infact it was said that someone exquisitely vile was banished to this island due to many disturbing crimes, which made them a danger to the public. All those things were of course not true, well, besides the ghost. Even though they weren’t real, Mariana thought they were. He didn't know what he was getting himself into here. He didn't even want to come.
The only reason he did was because he needed money and an actual place to stay.
He snapped back from his thoughts. He could hear something in the distance, it was… yelling-? There were people here? Actually people! Maybe they could help him find out if he was at the right place! The yelling got near, it sounded very British. He started to get a bit worried, the yelling didn't sound very good, maybe even a bit frightening.Soon he could see some people in the distance, one, a blondie with a red and white shirt.
Behind him, a very tall man that looked like an oreo. He was half black, like charcoal, and half white.
Following a bit behind was what looked to be a goat hybrid running after the two. He wore a green shirt and brown jacket with long hair that covered his eyes.
He kind of backed up from the people coming closer, only one seemed to be yelling. Mariana continued his descent backwards as he saw the blond ones facial expression. He seemed pissed about something.
As they got closer he could see they were all holding weapons. They seemed to have more equipment than he did.
Which was bad because they were running straight at him.
There was no way they were there to help him out. He looked around, finding a way up the wall. He grabbed his bags, sprinting his way up. He stood at the top of the wall, chucking his bags over and jumping along with them.
He ran up the hill in front of him, spotting a light. The light was around what seemed to be a tree farm, and he ran with his bag across the path to safety, at least he hoped.
It led to what looked like a house. The floor was made of crafting tables and the walls were brick. There were three other pathways. He took one leading him to what seemed to be a courthouse? Or garden? He didn't have enough time to go in, just running past.
He noticed the people gaining behind him. They were now running at him from the crafting table house he just left.
He ran faster down the path, Past what seemed to be a church.
Then some sort of ancient looking building. It had a court, columns, and was giant.
Next he passed.. a gingerbread house? It wasn't even Christmas. It was cool that they Celebrated it but why was the house still there?
Right next door was a … gay store?
There were rainbows on the walls and it looked like a target. The front said something he couldn't read before sprinting past.
His emotions were starting to get the best of him. He kept going as the people got closer, still yelling. He needed to find somewhere to hide or something.
“AH!”
He ran down a hill, tumbling a little but seeing some sort of gateway. He walked past it, spotting a sign, he found it! McPuffys!
He ran into the building, hiding somewhere. He could hear the people getting closer then running by.
The blond haired boy seemed to have a blue scarf on with red horns and a demon tail. The tall one looked like some sort of enderman. The goat person, who was a bit far behind, was being yelled at by the blond person. He kept yelling at him to catch up but it seemed the goat hybrid/satyr (he couldn’t tell) was tired out. They hurried by, continuing down past what seemed to be a hotel then out of sight.
Mariana sat down on the ground finally, tired from the encounter. Looking up to see a person with very fluffy hair behind the counter, and his bag sitting right in the middle of the restaurant. The person turned around, looking right at him.
She was also a goat hybrid, but quite a bit more pleasant. She had white and brown hair and shades on so her eyes were obscured. Aswell, she had goat ears adorned with earrings, and long goat horns that curved around them. She was wearing a captain-like outfit along with a lovely hat. She had a name tag on her jacket, with “Puffy” sewn neatly into it. She must’ve been the owner!
He got up, dusting himself off and straightening his stance, as she gave him a confused glance.
“Are you ok-?”
“uh si!”
“That’s good. Tommy, Tubbo, and Ranboo didn't cause you any trouble did they?”
Mariana guessed she was talking about the people who were chasing him before.
“Ehhh Me persiguieron por todas partes así que-”
(Ehhh They chased me everywhere so-)
Puffy gave an awkward laugh.
“I'm sorry but I don't really understand spanish.”
“Oh. They uhm chased me. Is that how you say it? Chased?”
“Yes! That's how you say it. So you do know english?”
“Only a little.”
“Well lucky for you! We actually have someone who speaks and knows spanish!”
“Oh really?”
“Yeah! There were actually two people before who knew spanish but one of them.. We don’t talk about it. But yeah we got someone here who knows spanish. His name is Quackity, I'm pretty sure he's in Las Nevadas right now. I could show you tomorrow but for now we need to find you a place to stay.”
“Eh, what about there?”
Mariana pointed at the tall building next door.
“Oh, no one really stays there. I mean you could ask Jack for a room but I dunno if he’ll give you one, it's always worth a shot!”
Puffy walked over to Mariana, taking out some diamonds and handing them to him.
“Take this as your first pay! Tell Jack Puffy sent you.”
She turned around going back to where she was, humming as she worked. Mariana turned as well, grabbing his bags from the middle of the room and walking out the doors, shutting behind him as he did. As he took a few steps away from the door, Puffy followed behind him, holding a bag.
“Sorry to hold you up, but could you maybe deliver this to Jack as well?”
“Oh uh si.”
“Thanks, take this as a day off too! Anyways, bye!”
“Adios!”
Puffy ran back inside waving, and Mariana waved back as the doors shut. He walked down the path a bit, not going down the hill as it looked to be a very long way down. At the very bottom of the hill was a building that seemed humongous, almost mansion-like. He walked by the path towards the hotel, up to the door, then through it.
Walking in, he approached an empty desk. There was a bell on the counter and a card holder where some business cards were held. He rang the bell and not a second later a man appeared from under the counter. He had red and blue 3-D glasses on and had very short brownish gray hair. The sides and back of his head were shaved while the top had more hair. He was wearing a black shirt with blue stripes along with it.
“Sorry! Uhm how can I help you?”
“Eh, I want a room.”
El Mariana held out the bag he was holding, taking out the diamonds.
“Oo!”
The man grabbed the bag of food, opening it, then closing it back up and placing it down on the counter.
“So puffy sent you?”
“Uh si!”
“I could see if I can get you a room but I dunno, how long do you plan on staying? When do you plan on paying?”
“Eh uh, I don't know. How much is it? Puffy just gave me this.”
“You sound weird when you're speaking English, not what you're fluent in or is it an accent? Anyways Pay is at least 2 to 3 times a week and it's about let's say twenty diamonds for a room.”
“Si I speak eh spanish. TWENTY-?! That's more than I will make in a week!”
“Don't know what to tell you, it's either get another job or find another place to stay.”
“Where would I find another job-?!”
“Well, I would hire you but I don't need any workers. I would suggest working in Las Nevadas or the prison, or just ask around and see if you can do anything for pay or something.”
“Where is Las Nevadas? When is pay due?”
“Las Nevadas is by Snowchester, so it’s a bit away from here. I'll tell you what, since you brought me food I'll take what you got now and you can stay until next pay.”
“Really!?”
“Yeah. I'm not that cruel unlike someone… Anyways, I'll show you the way to las nevadas tomorrow, for now go get settled in your room. Maybe even take a nap or something.”
“Gracias!”
The man went under the counter again, coming back with a set of room keys with a tag that had the number on it. He handed Mariana the keys and before going back under the counter, he said-
“By the way, my name's Jack. Call me if you need anything.”
“Si Gracias Jack.”
Mariana held the keys in his hand, gazing at the number before grabbing his bags and going off to find his room; he had gotten the third one. Once he found it, he placed the key in the slot and unlocked where he would be staying for the next while. Grabbing the knob and swinging the door open, he took in his surroundings.
The room wasn't too big, but it wasn’t small either. The walls were a dark shade of blue and the floors were wooden, there was a little sitting area before a cozy room with a bed right in the middle. By the bed was a night stand with a lamp and the TV remote on it. A couple inches from the night stand was a door that led into a small bathroom including a shower, toilet, and sink. A small circular mirror hanging on the wall above the sink.
Mariana got himself comfortable in the room, it was a pretty alright room. He put on a simple black shirt with a pair of shorts, getting into bed, slowly drifting off hoping when he woke up this would all be a dream..
